twidlit··on What is the truth behind "9 out of 10 startups fail"?
I would be more curious to know the number of successful bootstrapped businesses vs. VC-funded ones...
twidlit··on Square's Disruptive Payment Service About to Get A Huge Retail Boost from Apple
I think this increases the possibility of something like Square being built into the next iDevice with Apple buying Square first. If Square doesn't sell, then expect Jobs to build his own.
twidlit··on The betrayal of Bntr
To me , the classless one is the Tumblr guy getting incensed with a barely-related-possibly-in-the-near-future-if-they-dont-pivot startup that was getting funded.
twidlit··on Aviary has slick HTML5 image editor. Add to your webapp now. Source code soon.
We love their image editor widget but need something faster (it understandably lags when sending images to their server). Aviary has promised to offer the source code 'soon' but the problem is they said that last December.

Here is to hoping 'soon' has whittled down to a few weeks now. :)

twidlit··on Fuel - A simple and flexible PHP Web Framework
Honestly curious, are existing PHP frameworks hopelessly complex and rigid to have this problem?
twidlit··on Fuel - A simple and flexible PHP Web Framework
I wanna know what is the one thing it is aiming for? simplicity? speed (ala Yii PHP framework)? or modularity? Its not clear on any of the page...
twidlit··on Steve Jobs Interview about the Blue Box Story
It really feels like the world finally caught up to Steve Jobs rather than the other way around. Its a wonder how early he has been using the word 'magical' and obsessed with creating the best version of anything out there even with a hacky product like a blue box.
twidlit··on At least now we know why Color really got that funding
Color is not the sonic scanning mobile device in Dark Knight, it was the multi-lens visual scanner Lucius Fox threatened to quit over and self-destructed when they found Joker.

Bruce Wayne is Nguyen and we are Lucius Fox, but in this case there is no Joker to catch.

twidlit··on Poll: Would you like tags implemented on HN
Indextank should be all over this...
twidlit··on Poll: Would you like tags implemented on HN
Can we have a built-in search engine first?
twidlit··on Ask HN: What will Y Combinator look like in 3 years?
Perhaps it was just that it was not the right time (or place)
twidlit··on Ask HN: What will Y Combinator look like in 3 years?
Would YC ever go the Techstars route and make it a city by city 'franchise'?
twidlit··on Google to Launch Major New Social Network Called Circles, Possibly Today
I like the name, and the concept 'hook'. Here is to hoping that Google nails the UX and if its really really good. utilize google.com / gmail / android tastefully to get to critical mass.

I am not sure if i want Google to be successful in social though, too much power in a single company...

twidlit··on The Boy Who Stole Half-Life 2
My point is it would encourage more people to apply by trying to hack into the company's networks instead of just creating impressive mods, Valve is a game dev/platform company after all not a network security one.
twidlit··on The Boy Who Stole Half-Life 2
Considering how good Valve is making fanbases, the number of hackpplicants would then be untenable.
twidlit··on The Boy Who Stole Half-Life 2
Now if someone would only leak Episode 3/Half-Life 3...
twidlit··on Mark Suster to Twitter on behalf of users
maybe UberMedia really has plans to jumpstart a Twitter-like service off of the Twitter clients soon and somehow Twitter got wind of this and moved to cripple the trojan horses it bought / is buying.
twidlit··on Ask HN: What startups have you witnessed from its inception to going big?
Reworded the description to draw that out (i hope).
twidlit··on 500 Startups Unveils Start-up Accelerator Program
Spoondate is awesomely named.
twidlit··on Aerial footage of uncontacted Amazon tribe
I think the best way to do this is observe, document and study as much of their culture as we can without contact, After that contact them to with the goal of medical help and protection. And proceed carefully from there.
twidlit··on $1.50 per gallon synthetic gasoline with no carbon emissions?
This is too good to not think that it has drawbacks or serious concessions required. But the fact that its applicable to existing internal combustion engine makes it more feasible than electric powered vehicles.
twidlit··on Would-Be Suicide Bomber Killed by Unexpected SMS From Mobile Carrier
There's a Twilio idea here somewhere...
twidlit··on Sean Parker: "The Social Network" is a complete work of fiction
I have a feeling that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Sean Parker has a lot to gain by dismissing his portrayal as fiction. While Eduardo Saverin has lots of reason to demonize him, I would think it has some grain of truth to it. After all, if Parker is such a swell guy, why is he kicked out of every company he founded?

For the movie, I think Sorkin just created one dimensional people from character nuggets to serve the story he was trying to weave.

twidlit··on The Social Network Wins Golden Globe for Best Picture
I'd say the one pushing the envelope while achieving some mass market success... but that's just me, cuz i happen to want more ambitious films.
twidlit··on The Social Network Wins Golden Globe for Best Picture
The Social network was good and all but Inception was a masterful, intelligent film that was original to boot. Far better IMHO.
twidlit··on Ask HN: How can outsourcing be improved from the contractor's side?
Agreeing 100%. 'Communicate' can be unpacked into 1. asking a lot 2. systematically eliminating fuzziness 3. use visual tools (drawing, screenshot, references)
twidlit··on Turn MySQL to NoSQL
thanks!
twidlit··on Tumblr is Down – Fans Angry
Posterous must be planning some marketing stunt around this. :D
twidlit··on Kinect by Microsoft Keeps You Entertained Hands Free
Im sure it will be. the most important ingredient there is the developer/publisher commitment (its strong)
twidlit··on At My Wit’s End: Jason Calacanis Threatens To Sue Us
Funny how in last week's episode of This Week in Startups. The founder of Unsubscribe.com and Phonetag.com said to Jason that suing anybody is a big waste of time for everybody involved.
