I self host my email. From the very start I had no problems with being rejected. What I have noticed is some companies won't _send_ to me but it's rare so it's not worth paying for hosting service. It really hasn't been very complicated. In the last 3 years I've done it has broken twice.

Martin, if you're still around, could you tell us what phone you would recommend to someone if they were wanting to switch to daily driving PostmarketOS? Do you still see that as the pinephone or do you consider another device as having a more promising future/better hardware/better support?

Porn is almost as unavoidable as ads, especially for kids. We know the average age of a boy viewing porn is 11 (1)and that virtually all of them will see porn by 15(2). Of porn viewing done by minors 22% are done by children under 10 (3). Porn has also been proven to have significantly more impact over your brain than advertising. The dopamine response to seeing porn is similar to crack (4). You can't get addicted to ads. Pornography is categorically more dangerous to society than ads, tracking, and privacy invasions.

You're morally bankrupt

Having a server has saved me a tremendous amount of money. Here are a few things I self host that would normally cost money

-Terabytes of storage

-Password manager

-Streaming service (jellyfin)

-Home automation (if I remember correctly some home automation services have a fee)

-Music streaming

-Backups

-Email

-Website saver (wallabag)

Not to mention how much I've learned while managing the thing. I truly think everyone who can should have a server these days. We have zero subscriptions for any internet service and I wouldn't have it any other way

Use yt-dlp and pass it the SponsorBlock flags to auto skip intro/outro/sponsor/non-music sections. I used to use this to pipe videos into cmus or MPV but now just let a browser with ublock/sponsorblock go in the background

I work for a WISP. It is not common to have >=1Gbit and 10 times less latency compared to starlink.

I work for a wisp as a software engineer. I'm knowledgeable enough about our network/prices. None of the network engineers believe the numbers spacex is claiming they can do yet they can see it right in front of their eyes. The main argument is, "Well once this network actually gets any load it'll crumble." Or, "The latency is going to be through the roof." But people who live where a WISP is their only option already don't care about latency all that much.

I can't definitively say this is going to be disruptive but I can tell they're nervous. From my perspective the future of rural internet is in space.

This constant linking to other things is a bit annoying. I found most of them are older books. I clicked the spanking link to maybe find a book on why you should/shouldn't spank your children and instead got a porn site.

Well and that's the thing. I am one of two developers and I've kind of taken on the devops role. Right now we're in a pinch because the last devops guy left and no one knows what he was doing so I want to keep this all as simple as possible

Me and a friend have been working on a game that I describe as "Factorio but for programming". Essentially you're an AI who's mission is to mine every resource from a planet. To keep things efficient you start out small and have limited processing power. You're only able to run an assembly like language that we've developed. As you get more resources you can research new things like functions, variables, type arguments, whatever. We plan for there to be a tech tree so you can choose to build out a language that's not strict similar to JS or you can go the try hard route and build something like Haskell. You build bots that mine, explore, hunt, etc and each bot is a computer running their own script. We plan on there being battles you have to script around and even things like setting up your own network so you can have robots call home when they're out in the field.

I still need to think of a good name for it though.

I'll never understand people who run kubernetes, or even docker for that matter, on their personal servers
