tweakimp··on Hegseth had an unsecured internet line set up in his office to connect to Signal
I can't understand how someone like that got into such a position.
tweakimp··on Made a scroll bar buddy that walks down the page when you scroll
Can you make him moonwalk when you scroll up?
tweakimp··on OpenAI's o1 Playing Codenames
It would be really interesting to see an LLM watch other players and learn how they think to find the best clues THEY need to hear to find the right words.
tweakimp··on I got OpenAI o1 to play the boardgame Codenames and it's super good
What if the game showed a different order of cards to every player?
tweakimp··on Spectral Imaging Made Easy: A Powerful Python Library
I tried to understand what this library does, but without image examples its impossible for me. The docs almost seem to be unhelpful on purpose. Look at the use case description: "The functionality of the SiaPy library has been implemented in various use cases, demonstrating its capabilities and potential applications. The library's functionality is not limited to these examples and can be extended to other applications as well."

Are we living in the dead Internet already where everything is meaningless AI garbage?

tweakimp··on End of the Line? Saudi Arabia to scale back plans for desert megacity
Sure, they could put money in education, research climate change and photovoltaic or other technologies and try to improve quality of life with sustainable stuff.

But to the people in power, only symbols and power are important.

tweakimp··on Should toggle button show its current state or the state to which it'll change? (2010)
I think toggle switches are newer and therefore designers think they are more fancy to use.
tweakimp··on Performance Analysis of Python's Dict() and {}
I wish I could do {a=3, b=2}
tweakimp··on Unreal Engine Pricing Changes
Jokes on you, you built something for the metaverse.
tweakimp··on The worlds largest Online Toaster Exhibition
What is an "Online Toaster"? Oh, it's a Toaster Exhibition that is online ;)
tweakimp··on Making Python faster with Rust
Its not the looping itself that is slow in the article you linked, its that every element is appended to the list. If you use a list comprehension its even faster and it still loops over all elements of the list.
tweakimp··on Microsoft rebuilt Teams from the ground up, promises 2x faster performance
Most people in here are users who want to have a slick, fast responding tool. Even if I understand the market gains point; as a user, I dont like it when I have to wait >1 sec to open an application that only shows texts and images. (I also dont like it as a perfectionistic engineer.)
tweakimp··on Windows10Debloater: Script to remove Windows 10 bloatware (2021)
So sad that this is necessary. Same for Smartphones apps you cant uninstall and all these unwanted settings you have to opt out instead of opting in.
tweakimp··on Magnus Carlsen to give up World Championship title
Time for a chess rules change?
tweakimp··on To improve search results on YouTube, use the search prefix “intitle:”
I need better filters in the search. I want to search and then filter by views and sort by time, why is that not possible :(
tweakimp··on Robocode Tank Royale
Reminds me of sc2ai https://sc2ai.net/ where you can write bots for starcraft2 and let them battle it out vs other bots.
tweakimp··on Xor swap trick and add/sub swap trick (2010)
Why dont all languages have the inplace swap built in like python has?

In python you can just do: y, x = x, y

tweakimp··on One Year with R
Maybe you can switch to Python? Its also free and has a lot of statistical packages.
tweakimp··on Analysing the AI of Super Mario 64
I think what he meant was a realistic AI, a perfect game logic for the role it needs to play, not a perfect solution for the task it does. Example: I want to have an AI for a monkey that behaves like a monkey would behave. And if that monkey sits in a drivers seat, I want the car to move like a monkey would drive, not like a perfect driver of cars.
tweakimp··on Against Pair Programming
>>> Since we are employing two programmers to do work on the same keyboard at the same time, the output of pair programming must be greater than 2x the output of a single programmer to make sense.

Not at all. Two programmers working on the same project at the same time is already slower than one programmer working twice as long because these two have to communicate. And during pair programming, the communication is sped up.

In my experience, pair programming is really fun and helpful for some parts of my work, for example brainstorming solution ideas or finding bugs.

tweakimp··on Annotated explanation of David Beazley's dataklasses
Will this caching optimization make it into the standard library?
tweakimp··on The reMarkable as a notebook and eBook reader
What is wrong with using a paper notebook?
tweakimp··on We analyzed 425k favicons
Can you please explain why they are the best languages for these jobs?
