turingfeel··on OpenAI Reinforcement Fine-Tuning Research Program
Can't you opt out? I'd even wager by default they don't retain this data for in-house training, especially at enterprise.
turingfeel··on OpenAI completes deal that values company at $157B
What avatar?
turingfeel··on Web scraping with your web browser: Why not?
If you want to get your personal IP and fingerprint blacklisted across major providers and large ranges, unfortunately this is how you do it. Just keep the rates low.
turingfeel··on xAI's 100k GPUs data center in Memphis is up and running
I haven’t seen any info on those being in a single cluster. They seem to just be referring to total GPUs. It’s currently almost impossible to create a single cluster of GPUs that size.
turingfeel··on X (Twitter) blocks links to hacked JD Vance dossier
Much of the dossier reads like it was written by ChatGPT. Similar style and structure of paragraphs. I think a Trump campaign staffer got a little lazy.
turingfeel··on Trello Allegedly Breached
Because it wasn’t a breach, the title is misleading. It was just credential stuffing.
turingfeel··on AI system self-organises to develop features of brains of complex organisms
The integration of spatiality seems to allow for greater modularity and sparsity, but I'm not yet sure that it implies an increase in intelligent ability. If anything it may hinder its capacity for computation.
turingfeel··on Retentive Network: A Successor to Transformer for Large Language Models
Interestingly, I did see this tweet [0] mentioning a phase shift that occurs in transformers at exactly the scale RetNet stopped at. Probably simply coincidental but I was previously unaware of this phenomenon at such a scale in transformers.

turingfeel··on First impressions: Yes, Apple Vision Pro works and yes, it’s good
I agree, and I’m pretty worried that really is all that’s being offered on day one.
turingfeel··on First impressions: Yes, Apple Vision Pro works and yes, it’s good
It doesn’t run any desktop apps yet though, only Safari and Photos and a few content apps. They also demoed mirroring only a single Mac display. I think people are overlooking this and expecting to get multi monitor displays for heavy workload apps like on the Meta Quest Pro, but Apple are committed as always to making this a standalone system.
turingfeel··on Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s first spatial computer
They announced all the tech specs. As for the chips, an M2 and a new dedicated chip for sensor processing called R1.
turingfeel··on Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s first spatial computer
I think the avatar they demoed was somewhat lifelike to put it very generously.
turingfeel··on OpenAI has applied for “GPT” trademark with USPTO
Do you consider Apple an "open" company because they allow you to purchase an iPhone from them rather than keeping it for themselves?
turingfeel··on StableLM: A new open-source language model
Did they claim this? I didn’t see that claim made in the above post.
turingfeel··on BloombergGPT
It’s not trading anything, in which case the above still wouldn’t be true. It’s just answering financial questions, so if it hallucinates and tells you Tesla isn’t a public company 40% of the time then what’s the point? I’m using a very simple example here, I’m sure the model makes more intricate mistakes.
turingfeel··on Terence Tao makes progress on the Collatz conjecture (2019)
> The algorithm can run infinitely.

Really? Isn't the whole point of proving the conjecture attempting to answer that question? If you have an example of a starting integer that causes the algorithm to run infintely I'd be eager to hear it.

turingfeel··on Secret ChatGPT plugins can be revealed by removing a parameter from an API call
Given some of the behaviour we've seen thus far from OpenAI, I wonder how long it'll take before there's a breach and release of the weights, or a ransomware attack holding them hostage. Have we ever seen such financial potential concentrated in such a small private repository? I'm sure there are some examples, maybe the RenTech Medallion Fund's core model.
turingfeel··on GPT-4
I’m not sure I agree with the statement of this sample being about a theory of other people’s minds. Socratic teaching is a well documented method of teaching and learning via conversational probing among other simple quirks.
turingfeel··on GPT-4
In what way is Google scrambling to catch up? In my opinion PaLM-E is more impressive than GPT-4. Additionally Google do not have the same incentive to publicise what they’ve worked on as much as OpenAI. Google has had similarly performant LLMs the whole time. Who were the publishers of the “Attention is all you need” paper, of which almost everything OpenAI has been credited for is built upon?
turingfeel··on Joint statement by the Department of the Treasury, Federal Reserve, and FDIC
I am really, really not a fan of the guy. However making cash deposits and taking out loans are two very different things.
turingfeel··on Joint statement by the Department of the Treasury, Federal Reserve, and FDIC
I’m inclined to believe that may not be entirely true [1]. It seems there is some evidence of depositor losses but they have been incredibly rare and insubstantial.

turingfeel··on $3.3B of the ~$40 billion of USDC reserves remain at SVB
USDC/USD at Kraken is currently .925 with $174m 24h Volume.
turingfeel··on DeepMind AI is as fast as humans at solving previously unseen tasks
What are the previously unseen tasks (the most important aspect of the above AI) involved the Chess engine Stockfish playing Chess?
turingfeel··on An anonymous donor just sent 299 Ether (equivalent to 393k USD) to redox_OS
Probably not a hugely popular viewpoint, but I can’t help but immediately think there’s a good chance it’s dirty money. There’s just so much of it that can’t be laundered so it’s worthless except for altruistic purposes like this.
turingfeel··on Google rewrites history when you search for the 1984 film cast
I think this is because Google compiles these cast lists based on search proximity prevalence. So if you look up some actor and a movie in the same query many times it starts to assume the actor is in that movie. Maybe they combine this with some base scraping but I think it's highly unlikely they use some API or hand craft the lists.
turingfeel··on Anyone Seen Tether’s Billions?
It's not a fixed price asset, it's still a market and Tether relies on arbitrageurs to take profits from inefficiencies in the price when it drops below $1 or rises above.
