tsejerome97··on Google releases Bard to a limited number of users in the US and UK

tsejerome97··on I record myself on audio 24x7 and use an AI to process the information
this is also one of my pet ideas, but I keep procrastinating. Have your idea transformed into any kind of repos that we can contribute to?
tsejerome97··on I Don't Understand NFTs
I realize that most people here who ask what NFT is, actually is not asking what NFT is. They are referring to whether there is truly a market for it; and if it is web3, they have doubts whether the broad market is going to accept it. (I'm one of them :D)
tsejerome97··on Show HN: I've made a Figma plugin that converts design to HTML with TailwindCSS
This is quite nice. The problem I usually see with Figma converting to HTML plugins is that, there are too many nested divs! This might not be friendly for weak devices and is not that SEO friendly. If you are trying to solve this problem, it would be awesome!
tsejerome97··on Apple Daily to shut in days unless government agrees to plea to unfreeze assets
As your talk is quite generic, here is what I perceive as a guy who lived in HK for 10+ years.

If you are referring to against mainland China people on anti-immigration issue. It is quite normal as the citizens don't agree the government's policy on allowing mainland non-professionals to be HK citizens easily (500+ mainland Chinese people becoming HK citizens per day), statistically speaking more than 70% of them doesn't have a degree and is using government funding to survive every month (which is actually from HKers' tax) as I recall.

If your Conspiracy Theories are about COVID vaccinations, which many HKers believe that they want to wait for 1-2 years to make sure the long term side effect is minimal. I do think that is understandable given that there are quite some correlation of certain side issues (not causation)

tsejerome97··on Life as a public school teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2021
imagine posting a day in a life of San Fran Public School Teacher on YouTube and seeing a student deliberately setting the school on fire
tsejerome97··on One startup's quest to take on Chrome and reinvent the web browser
One of my favorite browser was the station app (which currently pivoted to become browser extension). It helped me to organize my work by a large percentage. I guess their pivot is due to not good enough traction and becoming a chrome extension can help them increase their market size. I felt sad when everyone treats these amazing product as free product. They deserve a hug.
tsejerome97··on Ask HN: Favorite purchases of last two years?
I know this is stupid but use a lower volume?
tsejerome97··on Google's push to bring employees back to offices, some say they'll rather quit

tsejerome97··on Mcdonald's HK app has 1M+ Downloads, but it's the worst app I have ever seen
Mcdonald's HK App should have lots of people talking about it in HK, but I have never heard anyone mentioning about Mcdonald's App. As there are 1 Million downloads shown on the play store statistics and as there are around 8 Million people in Hong Kong, it means there are 1 out of 8 people downloading Mcdonald's HK app (excluding iOS). And given the assumptions suggested from Statista [3], HK has 91% smart phone market penetration rate, and iOS:Android ratio should be around 4:6 (which should be 7:3 from my personal experience). It could mean that 1 out of 4 people in HK will have this app downloaded, either on iOS or Android, but I haven't heard from any of my network even mentioning this app. (Note: This app is meant for localization as its main feature is for local delivery + the name of the app itself)

A usual case for half of your friends to mention the app can already be achieved when there is around 100K - 500K Android Downloads. Two good examples are ZA Bank[4] & LIHKG[5], ZA Bank has only 100K+ Downloads on HK Play Store, yet I hear at least 30% of my network talking about it, 70% for LIHKG. This is why I kinda conclude that Mcdonald's Hong Kong has bought certain amount of downloads.

Adding on to this, when I'm checking the reviews on play store, I see that 80% of the 1-2 stars reviewers are local and more than 90% the 5 stars reviewers are non-local, concluding that they are buying 5 stars review.

It seems like Mcdonald's Hong Kong's company rather spends a lot of budget to (they also did lots of promotion like giving out Dispenser for orders more than HK$60), instead of spending the same budget/ part of the budget to improve the app.

tsejerome97··on How to Learn Complex Things Quickly: A Guide
I am quite curious if you will study textbook when studying a programming language or a development framework :D
tsejerome97··on I coded a Binance trading bot that analyses news sentiment and places trades
Hello, I am also planning to make a Binance trading bot soon! I have several questions if you don't mind to answer - How did you come to a conclusion that news are the major reason/metrics to evaluate to do a buy or sell? - Why not doing automated technical analysis?

Thanks!!

tsejerome97··on How to Learn Complex Things Quickly: A Guide
I totally agree with this. This approach can work only if you have the big picture. It is a lot easier for a web development background person to learn app development as the person knows it is still a "frontend". However, it would be really really hard for me to learn Astrophysics and Quantum Physics. (would appreciate a lot if anyone can offer any advice:D)
tsejerome97··on Docker Raises $23M
That's quite interesting, let's see if it will pivot a bit for the "new" trend like going serverless
tsejerome97··on Docker Raises $23M
As a 10+ years old company / YC company + significant amount of market share, I was expecting Docket to be like series D-F or even going public. Wondering if it is actually common for companies in CA to be like that...
