Preview is pretty great on macOS.

The best way is to specify limit on the credit card.

> I think this is a much better approach that baking tree sitter into VS Code

they're implementing both, with tree sitter being 'dumb' version of LSP syntax highlighting: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-anycode

tsar9x··on Wireless Charging Is a Disaster Waiting to Happen
In my car phone overheats quickly when I'm charging phone and using wireless CarPlay/AA :(
tsar9x··on Gnome 40 – The anti-desktop desktop
I'm using i3 with 4k monitors, just set Xft.dpi: 163 in Xresources and that's it. Depending on your applications, you may need to tweak some individually, for example Spotify can be adjusted via cli argument. There's one con, you can't have mixed HiDPI and non-HiDPI displays.

For sway it's much easier, you can have DPI scaling per monitor, but XWayland apps are blurry, so I'm waiting for all my apps to be updated to Wayland. There's experimental sway/wlroots branch with proper XWayland scaling, but I don't have easy way to install it.

tsar9x··on Gnome 40 – The anti-desktop desktop
I gave up on Gnome, there are many things that I had to tweak to have productive environment, and I don't like to be part of experiments(Gnome 40) on my machines. I simply moved to i3/sway, best decision ever.
tsar9x··on IntelliJ IDEA 2021.1
How? Are you using custom JDK with Wayland?
tsar9x··on IntelliJ IDEA 2021.1
Correct, but I saw that they are working on it in their JDK fork.
tsar9x··on IntelliJ IDEA 2021.1
You are running Xwayland not wayland.
tsar9x··on IntelliJ IDEA 2021.1
It starts quickly because everything is lazy loaded, if you open project it will start language server, start indexing etc, It's definitely not much faster than IntelliJ, but functionality is still behind.
tsar9x··on IntelliJ IDEA 2021.1
Hopefully they will support Wayland in next version.
tsar9x··on GNOME has no thumbnails in the file picker and my toilets are blocked
On macOS you need to "Option-Click" on Scaled radio button to see full list of resolutions.
tsar9x··on AMD Announces Ryzen “Zen 3” and Radeon “RDNA2” Presentations for October
Not really, drivers for Navi were equally bad on Linux. Second thing is that you need to wait several months before open source driver is stable, first months you have to use latest kernel + mesa-git. On the other hand, you can use Nvidia blob from day one.
tsar9x··on Firefox 80 to Support VA-API Acceleration on X11
AFAIK no, as WebRTC is not in the scope of this work (similar story for Wayland implemention).
tsar9x··on Linux Touchpad Like a MacBook update: progress on multitouch
It worked on Fedora 31, but they did noticeably improvment in F32. If you are fun of Wayland I recommend to check Sway.
tsar9x··on Lenovo to Certify ThinkPad and ThinkStation Workstation Portfolio for Linux
You can install "moby-engine" (docker-ce 19.03.8) from Fedora repos instead, I think docker doesn't care about repo for fedora as they lag few months every release.
tsar9x··on Linux Sucks 2020
> 1. Yay! With web I do not care as much about software, I am free to use Linux.

This. Web and electron apps is the greatest thing that happened to "linux desktop". I know that they sucks and are slow, but without it I would not be able to use linux for work.

tsar9x··on MacOS Catalina: Slow by Design?
Well, it is. However it's much easier with resolutions perfect for 2x scaling, so 4k on 15" XPS works great. As for fractional scaling (needed for 4k on 14/13") it's still kinda work in progress, I think it will be ready when chromium on wayland finally lands (I expect at least 1 more year). If you don't use electron/chrome, you can use it right now.

Obviously you can use less elegant solutions like changing fonts but it won't work with multiple displays with different resolutions.

tsar9x··on Gnome removed solid-color backgrounds based on what developer's friends use
Well, this is how Gnome works, their way or highway. It's funny when they emphasize community importance, but most of the time few people are calling the shots.
tsar9x··on Microsoft admits being 'on the wrong side of history' with regard to open source
If visual studio code is open source, please show me code of Remote Dev extension.
tsar9x··on Initial Impressions of WSL 2
You are right that enterprises are lagging 1-2 years behind current windows build, but in many of them WSL is seen as major improvement for developers. Fortunately I am allowed to run Linux, so I don't care :)
tsar9x··on The iPad's new cursor and keyboard
Hopefully Apple patented it and I won't see it on websites, normal cursor works fine.
tsar9x··on Initial Impressions of WSL 2
My view is that WSL2 will help developers who are stuck on Windows (many enterprises force Windows on users).

I don't think Linux will be affected as much. Moreover, Linux is better than ever:

- you can buy laptop with Linux from two companies: Dell and System76, soon from Lenovo

- performance can't be beat (especially for development, with native docker and kvm for virtualization)

- amazing package managers, with fwupd you can even update firmware

- graphics stack is really good and getting better, firefox on wayland with video decoding support, wayland with great hidpi support

- work on chromium on wayland in progress (beta already available), we will have electron apps with hidpi support

- no bloatware (candy crush, 100s of processes...)

- gaming with Proton is miles better than gaming on macOS, still behind Windows for known reasons

Obviously if you need Adobe/Office, Linux loses many points :)

tsar9x··on Initial Impressions of WSL 2
One caveat is that WSL2 needs Hyper-V, and many anti-cheats won't work with it (many CS:GO anticheats, I think it will be true for many multiplayer shooters).
tsar9x··on Initial Impressions of WSL 2
Systemd is not working.
tsar9x··on New 13-inch MacBook Pro
Objectively not, but in practice a lot of people are locked in Apple ecosystem, for long time MacBooks were the only good laptops for development with support of communicators, graphic tools etc.

It's changing with Linux and WSL, but can't blame people to stay with macOS if it works for them.

Personally I'm using linux and thinkpad, but even x1 carbon falls short to MacBooks in areas I mentioned before.

tsar9x··on New 13-inch MacBook Pro
Well, competitors are still behind Apple. They offer worse touchpad, worse screens (it's either 16:9 or weird resolution), no macOS, worse speakers, worse microphone, worse battery.
tsar9x··on Coming soon: Fedora on Lenovo laptops
Now Lenovo please step up your laptop game. 16:10 screen, small bezels, HiDPI screen with sane resolution (like 3200x1800) -> good trade-off between battery life and sharpness, and perfect for 2x integer scaling (better performance). Good speakers and microphone.
tsar9x··on Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 Moving into General Availability
Technically, there should be more HiDPI monitors on the market. I'm using now 24" monitor with 4k resolution, scaled 200%, and fonts are perfect :)
tsar9x··on Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 Moving into General Availability
I have fairly linux friendly laptop (Thinkpad T480) with Fedora, and GPU driver was broken for whole 5.3 kernel tree...
