trvz··on Sonnet 5.5
Maybe they could put Fable onto creating a website that doesn't use 80% of the GPU on an Apple M2.
trvz··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
Most people in any nation aren't observant enough, without exception. Since it's the Japanese people whose opinion counts here, it's their turn right now to be called out for it.
trvz··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Best I can do is half a pair of ASML socks.
trvz··on How did AMD Ryzen get 50% faster in two years?
The upcoming shortage was public knowledge before the prices rose.
trvz··on MiMo v2.6
That’s for toy GPUs, like the 5090.

ETH Zürich is up there high, particularly for computer science.

The LLM they were involved in last year (Apertus) still was a letdown.

As someone who actually went there, my impression is that Europe in general is complacent when it comes to computers, and any bright eyed student will get their motivation choked out of them in academia here.

If you want to do things with AI in Europe, you can have a bigger effect by working for a consulting company than being at a university. That's … not a good sitatution.

trvz··on Bonsai 2 27B: Near-Lossless Compression in a 9x Smaller Footprint
It should be though.
trvz··on Devastated father says his 9-year-old son spent $118,000 on YouTube ads
Imagine buying stuff they want for your kids?
trvz··on There's a 100% Chance AI Agents Are Ruining the Internet
Cue both of them sending you a weekly newsletter from now on, from which you can't unsubscribe from, for the next 30 years.
trvz··on What a time to be alive – rouge AI agents attack RubyGems.org
Don’t forget outright intentional.
trvz··on Homebrew 7.0.0
1) usable for most tasks != pleasent to use for most tasks

2) using an Intel Mac as your main computer, for most tasks != using it as a home server

trvz··on Homebrew 7.0.0
And given the performance jump from Intel to Apple Silicon, the perceived difference is 10+ years even.
trvz··on Great Lakes sturgeon may be 400 years old:Scientists rethinking how to save them
Don't mind this, they'll definitely be fished to extinction now.
trvz··on QBittorrent breaks out of sandbox to commit crimes
Indeed, and because of that, I argue it's not just the crime of hacking, but crimes against humanity, due to endangering the existence of the species.
trvz··on GPT-6 Astra in code review: Gains, privacy, and cost
It's a bigger model, of course it's slower.
trvz··on Qwen 3.8 27B available on Cerebras at 1500 tokens/s
Normal people: tok/s or t/s

Psychopaths: tok/SEC

trvz··on K2 Horizon: A connected fleet of six open models
Why? Sure, I’d prefer it, too, but this is just another GNU/Linux vs. macOS situation: most of us would prefer the first, but actually get shit done on the latter.
trvz··on ChatGPT outage – Resolved
Simply use GLM 5.3 Flash on the Strix Halo you've purchased just for this situation.
trvz··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
Just put Mythos on the task; it’ll work out the best way in a measly few hours.
trvz··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
Try turning the sound on, off, on again — not impressed by this bugginess.
trvz··on Quasar 438B: Europe's Leading AI Model
As a European: I don’t care where an open weight model comes from.
trvz··on AI Can Make You Suck Faster Too
I don't disagree with the title of this weblog post, but its premise is wrong: the existence of AI has an impact on the total number of tech companies, but not on the number of companies that make it real big (the AirBnBs, Stripes and Dropboxes the author is looking for).
trvz··on AI-written code is still your code
For most people employed as programmers, inheriting code from previous people has been a thing.

Also relevant: including libraries written by others in your own software.

As always it comes down to finding a healthy balance.

trvz··on Small Models Have Arrived
You misunderstood what I was referring to by “hacker” there.
trvz··on Small Models Have Arrived
First, smaller models are fun for hackers: you can run them locally, or run them faster.

Second, when cloud models become unavailable or otherwise deteriorate, these will be all you have. May as well prepare.

trvz··on GLM-5.3-Flash
All M3 variants use LPDDR5.
trvz··on GLM-5.3-Flash
That M3 had an older type of RAM. Apple hopefully secured sufficient supply of the newer variant for the M5 Ultra.
trvz··on GLM-5.3-Flash
It’s implied that they do, but don’t have the balls to tell you they do.
trvz··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
"matches" could've also been written as "this year's product falls short of the competitor's last year one".

And multithreaded is 10 cores vs 6 cores.

I appreciate Apple being kept on their feet, but they're not dethroned yet.
