truth_sentinell··on “Learning How to Learn,” the most popular course on Coursera
What's that foreign language and how do you study it? (If I might ask)
truth_sentinell··on A man wouldn’t leave an overbooked United flight, so he was dragged off
You have what's called a cognitive dissonance.
truth_sentinell··on I'm making 30 VR projects in 30 days to learn
That is a interesting approach. Thanks.
truth_sentinell··on Think OS: A Brief Introduction to Operating Systems
I understand one has a job and stuff to do, but 6 months is 4320 hours. Let's say you waste 10 hours a day commuting and in your job, that's 1200 hours in 6 months. You have 3120 hours left to sleep and do whatever you want to do (obviously you have to factor out bed time), unless you have two jobs or children to raise, I think that's enough time to read at least six good size books. I myself am a book junkie, and I always make time everyday to read, because there are so many things to learn!

Mais assim não da.

truth_sentinell··on Think OS: A Brief Introduction to Operating Systems
It takes you 6 months to read two books?
truth_sentinell··on A story of a designer learning math
That looks extremely awesome, thank you.
truth_sentinell··on A Visa for founders, engineers and investors willing to join France
Thank you for this very well explained post with all details. I love stuff like this, 0 obfuscation, straight to the point.

So, if you get approximately like 30k free every year, how much time would it take you to buy your own flat and car?

truth_sentinell··on Ask HN: How to learn new things better?
What have you learned with it so far?
truth_sentinell··on A Month Without Sugar
Yes, but is unlikely that you overdose your daily sugar intake with fruits whereas with a can of coke or a bag of ships you're already overdosing. Besides that, fruits have nutrients and other elements that help fight the possible downsides of the fructuose.
truth_sentinell··on China announces ban on ivory trade by end of 2017
And this guy thinks every buck goes directly into tribes and such. Reality check: that's not how the world works. They probably get peanuts -if they get anything at all-. Please stop being delusional and justifying non-sense with more non-sense.
truth_sentinell··on China announces ban on ivory trade by end of 2017
Yes I'm ignorant, but your reasoning is wrong. I already say I understand that, but I refuse to even consider it as a solution as you apparently are. So we should just let these people kill animals at will because it provides a "greater good"? By your same lane of reasoning you should accept paedophiles there (when animal go extinct) because they pay money and help support the community by doing so. Oh, wait, but in this case you can't consider because it's a human live and animals are not as valuable, right?
truth_sentinell··on China announces ban on ivory trade by end of 2017
I understand but it is really messed up that people even consider that moral. I'm sorry but I can't get any "a bit more" out of killing indefense animals for pleasure. It's just irrational. I believe these thirsty people for blood are just one step away from killing people. There's definitely something wrong in their heads. And the vast majority are white middle-class gun lover (nationalist) people. There must be some correlation.

If you feel like killing something, play some cod, jeez.

truth_sentinell··on China announces ban on ivory trade by end of 2017
It might be true, but like I said, read the analogy.
truth_sentinell··on China announces ban on ivory trade by end of 2017
Have you ever burned a fingernail?
truth_sentinell··on A one-side-project-per-month challenge
Do you have 3 lives? You can't afford that if you want to build stuff. We actually have 15 years (on average) of useful life from 20 to 70 if you're lucky.
truth_sentinell··on A one-side-project-per-month challenge
The main idea I think is not to build quality software, but to actually get shit done. You can refactorize later if you feel like the project has future.
truth_sentinell··on Students surprised by results of DNA testing of ethnic background
Ok, but what makes an American an "American" besides nationality? I'm "American" if my ascendents have been living and breeding in the US for N generations? Are the Mexican immigrants that have been living in US soil for generations also American? Or some people just have DNA mutations that happened in America?

This is non-sense from every angle you look at it and a petty excuse for racism.

truth_sentinell··on Students surprised by results of DNA testing of ethnic background
How can DNA have nationality? I don't understand. Can someone please enlighten me?
truth_sentinell··on The Lost Neruda Poems
I understand. I feel that way with music, some good films and good books. But can poetry (which for most people you have to fight your way through a dictionary to get a glimpse about the actual meaning of the poem) really replicate the same feeling?
truth_sentinell··on The Lost Neruda Poems
Poetry: The art of making writing extremely convoluted and obfuscated. Hell, sometimes writers themselves don't even know how to "interpret" those beasts.

Simplicity is underrated.

truth_sentinell··on Things I hate about Git (2012)

Ok, so where's the part where you get that 2 from?
truth_sentinell··on Bootstrap 4 drops IE9 support and goes full flexbox
Neither do I. Unless flexbox's CSS weights a lot more than classical CSS, I don't know how could that be a factor to render slower. Does not make any sense.
truth_sentinell··on Bootstrap 4 drops IE9 support and goes full flexbox
His and probably the vast majority of web developers (Lets say > 90%)
truth_sentinell··on Bootstrap 4 drops IE9 support and goes full flexbox
Was about damn time a major player like this dropped IE, should have been IE10 though. Good move nonetheless.
truth_sentinell··on 2016's most-edited Wikipedia articles
How do they get to that quantity? I assumes is world-wide
truth_sentinell··on 20 years ago, Apple bought NeXT
In this case they're, because he ain't reviewing and approving another biography.
truth_sentinell··on Ask HN: How do I get freelance developer jobs?
> I made some money but it seemed most things tagged JavaScript or PHP were either design work or WordPress plugins.

Indeed. Most work has to do with something pre-built, e.g CMS wordpress, joomla, etc. What projects do you work on?

truth_sentinell··on Ask HN: How do I get freelance developer jobs?
Damn. I work like 60 hours/week and I barely make a thousand a month when is a good project. I have to get first-world projects.
truth_sentinell··on Ask HN: How do I get freelance developer jobs?
How much time did it take?
