trust_bt_verify··on SpaceX engineers brought on at FAA after probationary employees were fired
What did I misconstrue? You put forth your opinion as fact, I asked you to back that opinion up with some facts but it seems you are unable to do that. Seems pretty straight forward to me, but accusing others of misconstruing your argument is quite the defection technique. Feel free to present your opinions, just frame them as such so others know they are just your feelings and not real.
trust_bt_verify··on Ask HN: Do US tech firms realize the backlash growing in Europe?
You mention the stimulus checks but dodged speaking on the tax cuts proposed by the house. Tax cuts will cost far more than the stimulus checks.
trust_bt_verify··on Ask HN: Do US tech firms realize the backlash growing in Europe?
You must be against the proposed tax cuts as we do not have money for those either, right?
trust_bt_verify··on SpaceX engineers brought on at FAA after probationary employees were fired
You are claiming your main point is obvious with nothing to back that up, but sure you can hand-wave that away as irrelevant.
trust_bt_verify··on Who wants to work in a factory?
There is quite a bit of speculation here. Any sources to back up these feelings?

> obvious

So just relaying your feelings on the subject, rather than adding any facts to the conversation. cool cool cool…

Must be an interesting topic!

> Under Biden, the FAA was slow walking SpaceX approvals.

Liz Cheney, the Republican who was elected by Republicans as a Republican to congress? I agree with your sentiment though, Democrats reach across the aisle far too often.
trust_bt_verify··on Starliner Is Such a Disaster That Boeing May Cancel the Entire Project
You can search for persecution of Elon wherever you would like but there is none here. It’s my understanding that Shotwell is running the show there and Elon is mainly hands off. There are many achievements I believe should bear Elons name like the back-to-back live stream debacles over at xitter or the cybertruck… but he is not as involved in the engineering decisions with space-x and it shows.
trust_bt_verify··on Starliner Is Such a Disaster That Boeing May Cancel the Entire Project
I don’t understand why those who praise space-x also take the time to bad mouth nasa. They are basically teammates here. Space-x has done some great things (kudos to Shotwell) but they did it on the shoulders of nasa and government funding, and that’s ok too.

In my 20 years in gov I saw it spent on productive infrastructure projects. Your anecdotes are weak.
trust_bt_verify··on US created 111,000 fewer jobs in April and May than previously estimated
I see up and down revisions with pockets of each all over this graph. This does not seem to present a strong argument that the Biden administration is actively lying about jobs data.
trust_bt_verify··on US created 111,000 fewer jobs in April and May than previously estimated
This has been a thing for more than just a couple years [0]. Maybe there is nothing nefarious with correcting the original estimations when more information is known later on.

trust_bt_verify··on US created 111,000 fewer jobs in April and May than previously estimated
Is this a reliable news source? Seems like they have quite the agenda in most of the headlines I browsed on their site. Does not seem to rise to the level of journalism that is often called for on HN.
trust_bt_verify··on Banana giant Chiquita held liable by US court for funding paramilitaries
Ok… no then? I was just trying to save the original poster from being badgered in bad faith with questions like, ‘take a guess’.
trust_bt_verify··on Banana giant Chiquita held liable by US court for funding paramilitaries
Yes.
trust_bt_verify··on The Twitch DJ Program
I would complain that the DJ is making too small of a piece of the pie in this situation, given that their performance matters significantly. People can hear music anywhere nowadays. All these players should get paid but the record company taking that big of a chunk is overstating the impact of the music in these streams.
trust_bt_verify··on FBI raids Atlanta corporate landlord in probe of rental market price fixing
No monopolies operate outside of the limits of reality. Trying to draw this line between what you feel is real and fake does not seem to resonate.
trust_bt_verify··on Some notes on influenceering
Hacker news seems to love rage bait and may just align with your biases better than other tech sites. This has certainly been my experience, I often find people I agree with more reasonable before any personal reflection.
trust_bt_verify··on Homeschooling (2021)
> The only reason we hesitate to take them out of school is the socialization aspect.

You really hit the nail on the head for me here. I see that kids need to work with large, consistent, groups of their peers for years to learn all of the skills needed to be socially competent (work and play). Many don’t get this and it can really show when they move into adulthood.

I don’t think they stated that they agreed with the ‘distortion’ statement. They only stated that if you believe that is the case, the government would be the one who should regulate that distortion out of existence.

I personally don’t believe this is a distortion of capitalism as much as it is just a later stage of capitalism’s inevitable self destruction.

trust_bt_verify··on Why We Hate Working for Big Companies (2018)
> Yes I agree a corruption/incompetence is the cause of almost infinite ills. -FTFY Only recognizing when it happens in government is a cognitive bias. Assuming it’s happening in a democracy you have a vote in, you have some power to change that. When it happens in private business, you are powerless.
trust_bt_verify··on Dozens of deaths reveal risks of injecting sedatives into police detainees
Maybe people in these orderly civilizations should figure out how to do that with less death? Let’s push ourselves to be better here.

I don’t see the suggestion made anywhere that we let society fall to rampant running drug users. Arguably this is already happening though, see Diana Kipyokei.
