trazire··on Ask HN: Are people in tech inside an AI echo chamber?
There definitely is an echo chamber, but not related to the existence of ChatGPT and other AI technologies (even the "menial" laborers I know being relatively aware of it, and my parents and family members frequently talking about it in the context of deepfakes/cheating (at school)/automation/healthcare.

Common reactions to ChatGPT and a lot of the fear are definitely overemphasized in the tech field, but that makes sense.

trazire··on The EU’s fight for user-replaceable smartphone batteries
Wasn't the Samsung Galaxy S5 waterproof despite having a removable battery?
trazire··on Ask HN: Did Google turn off IMAP access for good over the weekend?
They support using phone numbers and then switching to TOTP and deleting the phone number.
trazire··on PayPal and Venmo are still letting SIM swappers hijack accounts
I believe that when Capital One does that they somehow match your name and address to the phone number. A VOIP or prepaid number doesn't seem to work.
trazire··on Building a static serverless website using S3 and CloudFront
No, it is still true. From https://help.github.com/en/github/working-with-github-pages

> GitHub Pages is available in public repositories with GitHub Free, and in public and private repositories with GitHub Pro, GitHub Team, GitHub Enterprise Cloud, and GitHub Enterprise Server. For more information, see "GitHub's products."

trazire··on Google ditches its free WiFi service in South Africa, three months after launch
With India, they did this. They collaborated with RailTel, but I assume that was more logistical then anything else.
trazire··on China Seeks to Buy Control of Hong Kong Companies
As I see it, it's mainly because not that many people live in the City, and this enfranchises employees.
trazire··on San Diego Cell Service Possibly Affected by New Operator in Mexico
Seen it for other networks as well (TMo, ATT, Verizon).
trazire··on San Diego Cell Service Possibly Affected by New Operator in Mexico
I think that's normal. Walking around La Jolla, a lot of places have no reception (on Sprint).
trazire··on A YouTube Video Without View Count
You can hide view counts on Youtube.
trazire··on Datadog S-1
It looks like it was founded in New York, but in general the process is just making a new American corporation and transferring the French corporation (or its assets) to the American one, and dissolving the French one. Also, getting work visas for your employees and hoping that the bureaucracies don't affect you/deny you/remove your work visas after being accepted.
trazire··on Aussie ISV buys ads to wake up Google support
Never use Air India.
trazire··on Cloudflare S-1
The maximum, as provided by general consensus are 4 letters. The fifth letter, when applicable, signifies company status. "Q" for bankruptcy, "A" or "B" for class names, "E" for delinquent, "J" and "K" for voting and non-voting respectively, and so on. See https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/06/nasdaqfifthlette... (doesn't just apply to NASDAQ)
trazire··on Cloudflare S-1
It's unclear, but as we've seen in normal IPOs of this calibre (e.g. Slack, Pintrest, Fastly), probably next month.
trazire··on Verizon to Sell Tumblr to Automattic
After-tax loss of around $877 million.
trazire··on National Certificate in Kazakhstan Is Canceled
The SSL cert was simply for "bad" data on "trusted" sites. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship_in_Kazakhs...
trazire··on The Cloud
To be fair, those are cheaper because they want to make you more reliant on AWS and because those are more idyllic for Amazon to run, as with Lyft. Same with AWS Activate and etc.

But for most people, it's simpler to just use them and get it over with, and I'm glad it worked for you.

trazire··on The Fed is getting into the Real-Time payments business
Switzerland has access to SEPA, I believe, as a member of the European Free Trade Association. I don't think it's widely accepted.
trazire··on The Fed is getting into the Real-Time payments business
Also, despite not technically being a governmental operation, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Payments_Interface, from India.
trazire··on Lambda School fined $75k by CA for operating without state approval [pdf]
Are you going/have you registered with the State of California now?
trazire··on The Library Card Project: The Ease of Forming Anonymous Companies in the U.S.
It normally is in Voter ID states like my (for a couple more days) home state of Wisconsin. The problem is that a lot of people can't provide supporting documentation, i.e. a birth certificate.
trazire··on The Library Card Project: The Ease of Forming Anonymous Companies in the U.S.
For the Cayman Islands, FACTA exists, so they probably in actuality get more data about the company.
trazire··on Ask HN: I don’t have a company, how can I be paid on the internet?
What do you have against Stripe? Normally, and I believe it does in Italy, it supports sole proprietors. Otherwise, use Square, Gumroad, Amazon Payments, Authorize.net, or any other payment processor. Paypal.me would normally be good, but in the event of refunds, you are still liable for the 2.9% + 30c fee typically assessed on transactions, and they can freeze your account at any time. I assume that in Europe, as they are registered as a bank, they are required to have more accountability, but I'm not sure.

Are you looking for a one stop solution like Gumroad or something more like Stripe?

trazire··on MITM on HTTPS traffic in Kazakhstan
Yeah, it should, unless this is only for residential ISPs, which I strongly doubt. I can't appear to find a Kazakhstan-hosted VPN however, did you find one?
trazire··on Building the New Twitter.com
For me, deleting all cookies and logging back in works.
trazire··on MITM on HTTPS traffic in Kazakhstan
No, as the certificates are user installed. The Bugzilla and other threads are about distrusting that user certificate.
trazire··on YouTube video has its own URL in it
How?
trazire··on Elizabeth Holmes to Face Trial Next Year on Fraud Charges
According to Bad Blood, she had an ED.
trazire··on Open Letter from the OpenID Foundation to Apple Regarding Sign in with Apple
$15k is an inconsequential amount for the OpenID Foundation, either. Just based on members listed on their site, they're making around $966 thousand.
trazire··on Ask HN: Best free compute and other resources for startups?
I believe you can email your pitch deck in and get a code to apply.
