transportheap··on Bitwarden is no longer free software
source?
transportheap··on Ask HN: Why Debian got called for keepassxc patch when other Distros do similar?
openbsd was just an example. other distros and os do patches all the time including changing features but only debian gets called out.
transportheap··on 3D printing on OpenBSD? Yes, that’s a thing
given also they port a really old version of prusa im not surprise. i bet 100% octoprint not make it, or new version, because they are scared to update deps for reasons. openbsd port people also no share patches upstream and probably "too hard" to port in current form with many patches.
transportheap··on I paid for Sublime Text
i would consider buying if they stop shipping eol software. they ship py3.3 which is eol of 10 years! seems like a wont fix too

transportheap··on Ask HN: Safest open source Win11 privacy tool?

transportheap··on Cargo-semver-checks: Scan your Rust crate for semver violations
rust lang shifts the digits right by 1 so minor (second spot) == major in their eyes meaning always breaking and nobody hit 1.0+ because they are scared of not changing thing or misunderstand semver.
transportheap··on OpenBSD: Game of Trees 0.90 Released
absolutely not. openbsd decide to reinvent the wheel for their own bubble let them pay. you say server is openbsd only too in post. maybe not you but other openbsd devs dont give back either (despite project docs and policy) and even change the openbsd docs to no longer say contributor should give back to upstream (this is documented). why should there be trust this will care about others and the money is for this specific development?

tldr prove its not another openbsd NIH project and people outside openbsd care or f off

transportheap··on Ask HN: Does Sublime text still have value in 2023 given its cost?
ya doesnt seem to compete with helix or vscode anymore to justify price hense question
transportheap··on This Week in Rust 499

transportheap··on Just: A Command Runner

transportheap··on Helix 22.12

transportheap··on Rust: Cargo upgrade doesn't any more (regression)
more convo: https://internals.rust-lang.org/t/feedback-on-cargo-upgrade-...
transportheap··on A Culture Problem in Arch Linux
openbsd comm is worse than arch
transportheap··on Please don't use Discord for FOSS projects
perfect example of foss accessibility issue: https://github.com/iSoron/uhabits

this dev refuse to consider accessibility as it means ui changes or new option. users with visual impair are unable to use app and dev just locks issue reported for it and ignores users. probably to boost number of dls/markerting.

even if user does a patch dev just closes and does his own thing that dont help. even foss projects kick contribs out for try to help

transportheap··on System76: A Case Study on How Not to Collaborate with Upstream
system76 isnt alone, openbsd devs and packagers regularly also dont share with upstream too. they even got caught so they change their policy on sharing https://marc.info/?t=160764244000001&r=1&w=2
transportheap··on No Starttls
someone should tell the openbsd guys https://github.com/OpenSMTPD/OpenSMTPD/issues/451 who explicitly tell certain users to use starttls
