tough··on Lawmakers added $1 to car insurance policies. That money paid for Flock cameras
wealth and inequality (and so poverty) also go hand in hand.

For a few to be very wealthy, the many may remain impoverished.

tough··on Luanti removed from Google Play due to baseless AI copyright notice
One of the loopholes of the counter-claim, is that you accept whatever random jurisdiction of the original claimer as your jurisdiction, pulling you usually into US Sphere.

It's a rigged game, its better not to engage with.

the specific laws and consequences from ai:

> Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3)(D), for a DMCA counter-notice to be legally valid, the person filing it must explicitly state in writing that they consent to the jurisdiction of a US Federal District Court.

> If you live in the US, you consent to the federal court in your local district.

> If you live outside the US, you must consent to the judicial district where the service provider (YouTube/Google) is located—which means the Northern District of California.

> For a creator living in Europe, Asia, or South America, filing a counter-notice means signing a document that legally exposes them to a federal copyright lawsuit in California. Even if the creator is 100% in the right (e.g., they used public domain footage or have clear Fair Use), the sheer financial threat of having to hire a US federal defense attorney to fight a lawsuit in California is often enough to make them abandon the dispute.

If they have happy customers buying them is the dumping just a shibboleth for just "they're taking our national companies market share"

holy shit that sounds like a nightmar-ish work environment
tough··on GLM-5.3 is now open-weight
> If you wanted to ask a 2002 person what they thought about future historical events you can just ask them directly.

The weights arent the truth tho, maybe a timecapsule-vhs but i wouldnt trust llm weights more than more hardcore deterministic media that might get preserved to infer facts from an era.

The companies doing the training are becoming the "winners" that are "rewriting history" as they train their models.

tough··on GLM-5.3 is now open-weight
and even if you were making such a salary, the quesiton of if the investment on hardware to run llm's locally is still a big if, its OK if you buy the HW cause you'll use it and you get the extra capability as a nice extra, but doesnt make sense to spend so much when you could just get 200$ subs with almost infinite SOTA tokens a month etc (if you dont need the local/privacy aspects of it)
tough··on Get your Windows license refund
Its been only 20 years since 2006 maybe you meant 19?
tough··on Get your Windows license refund
It's been very funny to go through life discovering such shibboleths exist in so many random places and its like getting a powerup to even find out about them...

tough··on Why tech bosses keep sharing their manifestos about AI
I think the problem is "how it technically works" to "how it feels" are different things in this case
tough··on Why tech bosses keep sharing their manifestos about AI
As long as you are consciously aware you're not really talking to another human but just entertaining yourself I don't see the harm tbqh.

Anything can become addictive, also i'd say given the costs of operating llm inference the labs themselves when offering the products try to limit your usage at different levels, ChatGPT for example will recommend you take a break and chill if you go hours with it (even with a 200 plan)

I don't see how using an LLM is that different from surfing Wikipedia or Google, in all cases the computer is just giving me outputs i demand it from, in some or other shape, and can be abused etc

I like to think the brain is doing its work and just trashing info it doesnt need and making space for new info when i forget stuff... I guess if it was truly important i'd be worried, but work stuff usually isnt important once its done, emotional/personal stuff would be more worrisome, like alzheimer and others, but work stuff? Im happy to forget it if its done lol

hmm not really, and it probably isnt the origin, but im glad to see him vindicated by having both C-level google leadership people who targeted to try and either stop google from doing the pentagon deal, both stepping down the same day.

At least it makes me feel like he reaching out might have made a difference on remembering this people killer robots are bad, and being part of it might not be on the best of their interests to go down on history for
