tonetegeatinst··on Show HN: Rate Floor Pricer – like price insurance on GPU, estimated in real time
No AMD option support, is that planned for future or is this mainly Nvidia focused?
tonetegeatinst··on Can I Buy Your KV Cache?
Does anyone have a good recommendation for explaining or as a primer on KV cache?
tonetegeatinst··on Oracle beats on earnings, but stock drops on plans to raise another $20B
Where in the hell is all this liquidity going to come from? SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI are looking for combined ~250 Billion. The market is all ready pumped and google is also seeking further investment.
tonetegeatinst··on FCC wants to kill burner phones by forcing telecoms to get all customers' IDs
Pretty sure that this would just encourage privacy minded folks to find a loophole.

Or if you get fed up enough you just start blasting FM transmissions without a license..... Keep the burst short enough while your mobile and don't make the transmitter obvious and you could probably get away with it for short SMS comms.

Or just use something like lora or meshtastic/meshcore

tonetegeatinst··on Leaks reveal US authorities concerned about the rise of 'anti-tech extremists'
I'd argue its not the technology, but how big corporations like Flock use this tech.

I also think its an affordability problem, its radicalising to see people unable to afford storage and memory while the consumer market shrinks all while the big tech and military see the benefits.

tonetegeatinst··on Copper imbalance tied to autism's social symptoms and white matter development
I hope the scrap copper industry can handle the sudden spike in demand.
tonetegeatinst··on Reddit blocks JSON API access, which leaves read-only apps like RDX unusable
Can confirm....I wanted to convert a long post and its comments into latex....that way I could export it as an image or share it easier and I am yet to find a workaround as every source gets blocked or does not work for the LLM.

So now I get to spend hours converting it all by hand.

tonetegeatinst··on Meltdown Now Supports OpenRouter
Had a true of "ow fuck fuck fuck" panic thinking this was another meltdown vulnerability in hardware.
tonetegeatinst··on Hi-res microscopes give biologists petabytes of data
How much does it cost to built one of these microscopes?

I still think that most nanoscale microscopes,SEM,TEM,etc are unaffordable to the hobbyist or garage workshop of scientists.....which is just as important it the equidity in science.

tonetegeatinst··on No Slop Grenade
Darn and I was hoping we would see a new invention someone could form1 with the BATFE.
tonetegeatinst··on GitHub is investigating unauthorized access to their internal repositories
Microsoft owned so many a CYA to explain why the liability insurance goes up to investors?
tonetegeatinst··on Designing an FPGA Calculator from Scratch
Got a link for the writeup/post from them?
tonetegeatinst··on Getting fired? Here is what you need to do to get a shit ton of money
Man I hope someone has made a US version of this....

Getting suddenly fired or PIPed in the US is not uncommon or unheard of.

tonetegeatinst··on 'A' grades are suddenly everywhere since the arrival of ChatGPT
I think cheating is a more prevailant issue thanks to LLM's but from personal experience I can say they have really helped me better grasp concepts that a professor might in a classroom.

That translates to better comprehension of exam problems and being able to tackle to problem in new ways thanks to better understanding the actual issue.

tonetegeatinst··on Project Gutenberg – keeps getting better
I mean you could block entire AS numbers that relate to amazon or big tech datacenters
tonetegeatinst··on FAA adding transponders to all its airport vehicles after LaGuardia runway crash
So will ADSB receivers be able to pick this up if they are nearby?

Will the position be GPS or RTK based?

tonetegeatinst··on How RL Reward Hacking Made Claude Mythos a Zero-Day Hunter
Mythos's research is easily replicated via other top models and even some open source models, so this is nothing new.

This is just like using Fizzers to test programs or auditing code using test cases to find potential issues and then turning that into an exploit.

tonetegeatinst··on Worldwide Semiconductor Revenue to Exceed $1.3T in 2026
What's the profit? And how does that break down into different industries?
tonetegeatinst··on OpenAI's Sam Altman tells companies to try four-day working week
I'd argue we need the 4 hour work week, but we also need an affordable wage.
tonetegeatinst··on Is BGP safe yet?
200billion CHF....how big is that in bandwidth?
tonetegeatinst··on You probably don't need to lift state
Read the title and my brain instantly though "a state is very heavy.....you might need a powerful lever and fulcrum to lift Texas or California."
tonetegeatinst··on Is being 6ft the secret to success?
Tall person here, not going to reveal my exact height but let me add a few comments for those who think being tall is really good.

1. More strain on the heart...you need to pump harder to get good circulation... In fact many tall people are at increased risk for heart injury.

2. Cost is everywhere. Nothing is your size, meaning you have to go to stores that sell for tall or fat people which because its a niche it will cost more. Being taller might put more pressure on your spine?(unsure of this) but the biggest cost is travel. If you can't fit in a car or standard plane seat then get ready to fork out extra.

3. Leg pain anytime you have to cram yourself into normal sized vehicles. If the vehicle ceiling isn't tall then you have to literally bend your neck and head.

tonetegeatinst··on Andrej Karpathy's lab has received the first DGX Station GB300
What's the profit margin on this for dell and nvidia I wonder.....
tonetegeatinst··on How many branches can your CPU predict?
Intel is currently looking into replacing their branch prediction with a system based on astrology, tarot cards and crystal balls.
tonetegeatinst··on Hollywood Enters Oscars Weekend in Existential Crisis
Iv had some movies I wanted to see but had to wait for them to appear online via youtube, apple, PBS, or DVD.

Niche films / indie films don't get shown everywhere and unless your sometimes willing to drive over 150+ miles you just have to wait.

tonetegeatinst··on Motorola GrapheneOS devices will be bootloader unlockable/relockable
I will be ordering one as soon as they release evenn if its a downgrade, because I want to see this succeed.

I also am willing to suffer lower specs in short term if it benefits me in the long run.

tonetegeatinst··on Sub-$200 Lidar could reshuffle auto sensor economics
Radar is extremely expensive, and lifar is just below that.

Glad to see someone lowering the cost of this technology, and hope to see lots of engineers using this tech as a result.

We might even see a boom in LIDAR tech as a result

tonetegeatinst··on Laser writing in glass for dense, fast and efficient archival data storage
Reminds me of the DNA storage that used to be in the news....but never saw the commercial or homelab market.
tonetegeatinst··on CXMT has been offering DDR4 chips at about half the prevailing market rate
More competition is always good
tonetegeatinst··on Show HN: AI pentester – verified exploits, $999/assessment
Are you able to share what models or fine tuning you did for the agents?

I'm currently studying security in college, and most of my time is spent working on a good system card and premade prompts for certain situations like using nmap or burpsuite.
