tokioyoyo··on Meta Horizon Worlds on Meta Quest is being discontinued
They actually did that before, if i recall correctly?
tokioyoyo··on Kagi Translate now supports LinkedIn Speak as an output language
I don’t participate, but signaling other participants that you’re willing to participate is a signal is a subconscious signal in itself, apparently.

Weird stuff all around. Quality of the audience or the content doesn’t matter at this point. There’s an implicit understanding that the bigger your audience, the more likely you can get any attention, which translates into influence, money, trend and culture setting.

tokioyoyo··on Ask HN: How is AI-assisted coding going for you professionally?
We use it daily in our org. What you’re talking about is not happening. That being said, we have fairly decent mono repo structure, bunch of guides/skills to ensure it doesn’t do it that often. Also the whole plan + implement phases.

If it was July 2025, I would have agreed with you. But not anymore.

tokioyoyo··on Qatar helium shutdown puts chip supply chain on a two-week clock
Financialization of everything is so funny to me, because even I, who is extremely stupid when it comes to big money stuff, can see not having state capacity on important stuff is insane. By that, I mean hard resources, materials, THINGS.
tokioyoyo··on Elon Musk pushes out more xAI founders as AI coding effort falters
The feeling on the street is that Anthropic IS the Apple of the AIs.
tokioyoyo··on Willingness to look stupid
Not sure if this is the right place to respond, but I’ve only seen this play in situations where people visibly want to look better than others, because they feel insecure about their status.

Frankly, I have no idea how to explain it in words, but when you’re in a setting where everyone knows they’re good at their own thing, but also know the others are also exceptional at their thing, this game goes away. Like it actually becomes the opposite. Everyone calls themselves stupid, become more cordial, and things get fun. Trying to not to look stupid signals negative status, or whatever you call it.

It’s very funny to write this out, because I’ve never thought about it on purpose. Everything has just felt natural at the time of the event.

tokioyoyo··on Good software knows when to stop
They're upset, yet they're paying for it. It sounds like the software was underpriced, because people are still using it. Honestly, blame the consumers, not the businesses in these scenarios.
tokioyoyo··on The next generations of Bubble Tea, Lip Gloss, and Bubbles are available now
From my interactions with younger engineers, this is what "they're looking for". I think we're just used to a different format, so our expectations don't match the reality. Our instincts are different, maybe? Not sure.
tokioyoyo··on Meta’s AI smart glasses and data privacy concerns
Less attention on you, less negative press, better sales.

tokioyoyo··on The happiest I've ever been
No DINK I know posts anything about their lives ever. Probably the most "quietly enjoying their lives" people ever. Most people get jaded through social-media as it's just pure hate-rage baited content from all the sides. Most people are normal, they're just living. It's not up to you, or me to dictate what they're supposed to find fulfillment in.
tokioyoyo··on The happiest I've ever been
> but the majority is rather miserably lonely when you look past the facade

People make their own choices, and it’s not up to me, nor you, to make assumptions on their lives. If children give you fulfilment, god speed to you. If others can find happiness without children, god speed to them.

By the way, I’m speaking as a person who wants children. But I totally get my child-free friends. I know people in their 60s as well, who debated this question and found a life for themselves. There is always a “what if question” hanging around, but all in all, they’ve weighed their options and are generally happy.

I think a lot of people who ended up having children to find fulfilment did not find happiness in other means. So they can’t experience the “other side’s argument”. Same applies to child-free people, as they haven’t experienced the other side.

tokioyoyo··on The happiest I've ever been
Yeah, everyone I know who doesn’t have a child/not planning to have zero connection to Reddit or anything online. Tldr is, people find fulfillment without children easier nowadays. And as they watch other going child free or 1-2 children, they realize that life is possible nowadays.
tokioyoyo··on Google workers seek 'red lines' on military A.I., echoing Anthropic
Yes, but we both know this is not the same kind of “autonomous weapons”.
tokioyoyo··on Google workers seek 'red lines' on military A.I., echoing Anthropic
I don’t think they’re refusing all military involvement. Autonomous-decision making is the problematic part.
tokioyoyo··on Why isn't LA repaving streets?
The one thing I noticed in NA is that it takes ages to rebuild a road. I have close to zero experience in road construction, but a bit weird to see how they can repave a km stretch of a road here in Tokyo within a week or two, but it took months in other cities i've lived in.

Maybe they do a lot of extra work over night over here in Tokyo, and it just goes faster? Or it's a very systematic thing and part of the maintenance schedules, so it doesn't really go that bad?

tokioyoyo··on How I use Claude Code: Separation of planning and execution
Do you actively use LLMs to do semi-complex coding work? Because if not, it will sound mumbo-jumbo to you. Everyone else can nod along and read on, as they’ve experienced all of it first hand.
tokioyoyo··on Every company building your AI assistant is now an ad company
Pretty much this. Nobody really actually cares. People will cite 1984 twenty million times, but since they're very disconnected from 3rd order effects of cross-company data brokerage, it doesn't really matter. I used to care about it before as well, but life became much easier once I took the "normie stand" on some of the issues.
tokioyoyo··on I verified my LinkedIn identity. Here's what I handed over
Because super-majority doesn't really care if the product does what it's intended to in the end.
tokioyoyo··on Tailscale Peer Relays is now generally available

tokioyoyo··on Tailscale Peer Relays is now generally available
Cloudflare still operates like this.
tokioyoyo··on "Token anxiety", a slot machine by any other name
Come on man, you know exactly what I mean. You can keep coming up with these arguments, but the world has moved on already. I genuinely don’t know a single person in 3 different countries from age 12+ who does not use LLMs at least once a week. We have to adapt, or choose to not play the “game”.
tokioyoyo··on Claude Sonnet 4.6
All those you mentioned are somewhat physical and not that simple across the borders. Practically speaking you will never get universal laws across all nations, otherwise financial havens wouldn’t exist either.
tokioyoyo··on Claude Sonnet 4.6
> the rest of the world quietly leaves if they know what's good for them.

Userbase of TikTok, Instagram and etc. has increased YoY. People suck at making decisions for their own good on average.

tokioyoyo··on "Token anxiety", a slot machine by any other name
Like I understand this commentary, but it’s so detached from reality. My dad in his 70s is writing Excel macros, even though he never touched that in his life. There are a ton of cases like this, but people can’t see reality out of their domains.
tokioyoyo··on Claude Sonnet 4.6
I actually agree with you, but I have no idea how one can compete in this playing field. The second there are a couple of bad actors in spammarketing, your hands are tied. You really can’t win without playing dirty.

I really hate this, not justifying their behaviour, but have no clue how one can do without the other.

tokioyoyo··on "Token anxiety", a slot machine by any other name
Ok, to be very honest I wrote that in the middle of having a couple of drinks. I guess, what I mean is, countries are funding AI labs because it can turn into a “winner-takes-it-all” competition. Unless the country starts blocking the leading providers.

Private companies will turn towards the best, fastest, cheapest (or some average of them). Country borders don’t really matter. All labs are fighting to get the best thing out in the public for that reason, because winning comes with money, status, prestige, and actually changing the world. This kind of incentives are rare.

tokioyoyo··on "Token anxiety", a slot machine by any other name
> What makes you believe this?

Simply, cut-throat competition. Given multiple nations are funding different AI-labs, quality of output and speed are one of the most important things.

tokioyoyo··on What dating apps are optimizing
Looking from my surroundings, in my circles, women are way more picky than men. Across different races, age groups and etc. According to all of my girl friends, they don’t really need a man, especially of their life is ok right now. They can satisfy their sexual and non-sexual desires much easier without dating.

My guy friends though, they’re less picky and more desperate (in a good way). This basically works out for guys constantly “looking”, but the girls not as much so. So you have an imbalance.

It’s much easier from one perspective in the gay world, because we can satisfy our sexual desires much easier. However, it also becomes complex once we seek something that’s more than sexual relationship.

I look at it as a physiological problem that I can’t see an online solution to. It basically needs to be cultural, where women and men meet each other in the middle ground. But good luck with that in 2026z

tokioyoyo··on Ring cancels its partnership with Flock Safety after surveillance backlash
Honestly? I don’t care enough about that. I’ve simplified my life to a degree where I’m not depended on anything, nor I get that much ads anywhere. So it’s just a life built around conveniences and focusing on things I care about.
