toisanji··on Show HN: I made a Chrome extension to clean up your Gmail inbox locally
nice work, I wouldn't pay monthly for this, but I would buy a one time license.
toisanji··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (May 2024)
we are building out small team for https://replicantlife.com

Looking for an intern right now to help with simulation building using three.js graphics. Experience with LLMs is a plus. You must have experience with three.js or other javascript libraries. You can submit resumes to contact AT replicantlife.com

toisanji··on GraphRAG with LangChain and Neo4j
why do people use medium to post content?
toisanji··on Cyc: History's Forgotten AI Project
I would love to see a Cyc 2.0 modeled in the age of LLMs. I think it could be very powerful, especially to help deal with hallucinations. I would love to see a causality engine built with LLMs and Cyc. I wrote some notes on it before ChatGPT came out: https://blog.jtoy.net/understanding-cyc-the-ai-database/
toisanji··on Show HN: Speeding up LLM inference 2x times (possibly)
awesome, looking forward to seeing how your results perform. I tested powerinfer on smaller models and didn't see large performance gains.
toisanji··on Show HN: Speeding up LLM inference 2x times (possibly)
this sounds related to this: https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.12456 https://github.com/SJTU-IPADS/PowerInfer
toisanji··on Show HN: Using Google Sheets as the back end/APIs of your app
tried it, sign in and ssl doesn't work.
toisanji··on Faces.js, a JavaScript library for generating vector-based cartoon faces
very cool. Are there libraries like these that do whole characters with bodies? Would love to play with those!

can it be used for whisper and asr as well? I would buy it if its cheaper.
toisanji··on Is Cosine-Similarity of Embeddings Really About Similarity?
We found similar results when working on our paper for creating LLM agents with metacognition and explicitly called this out in the paper: https://replicantlife.com

toisanji··on Building an e-ink weather display for our home
thanks for sharing, this seems way faster and cheaper to build and almost as nice. Can you have the kindle mounted horizontally instead?
toisanji··on Ask HN: How did you stop drinking?
This is a dear question for me and it took me many years to figure out. For many people, occasional drinking is fine, but for me, small amounts of alcohol will mess with my sleep and health. So I would fix it for a while, but because alcohol is socially acceptable, I would occasionally have a drink and then a few weeks later I was back in the habit of a few drinks a week, which meant poor health. The answer for me eventually was to write a blog post to myself: https://blog.jtoy.net/stop-drinking-all-alcohol/ After writing that and occasionally going back to reread it, I don't drink at all :) I hope it helps.
toisanji··on P5.js – A library to make coding accessible for artists, designers, educators
I love p5js, I recommend it all the time for new programmers because it allows you to to program something immediately and to see feedback in real time. Here are hundreds of little programs I wrote for fun: https://concepts.jtoy.net/ http://www.jtoy.net/sketches/
toisanji··on Cyc
Cyc had potential and its still being used by some people, but its mainly dead now. I have been dreaming of a cyc 2.0 for a while, I did a tiny mvp here a while ago: https://concepts.jtoy.net/

I recently wrote a review on Cyc as well : https://blog.jtoy.net/understanding-cyc-the-ai-database/

toisanji··on Chatbots: Still dumb after all these years
These AI models don't actually understand anything. I just wrote up this article on what understanding for a computer should look like: https://blog.jtoy.net/a-computational-definition-of-understa...
