tock··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
Generally Indians.
tock··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
> But letting anybody do anything that would benefit them is of course not reasonable.

Who is talking about letting anybody do anything? The parent is talking about people working in tech as a means of upwards mobility. Is that not reasonable?

Do you dislike south asians?

Edit: no-one is upset by what you said lmao cmon. Just clarify what you are really trying to say.

:)

tock··on The LLMentalist Effect (2023)
These questions will never go anywhere because there is no good definition of intelligence or consciousness.
tock··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
sure they did
tock··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
Sanctions and war against China, India, etc? Lmao. We already saw how the world reacted to high tariffs by the US.
tock··on The Nonfiction Book Market is Collapsing?
Opposite here. I almost exclusively read fiction now. I learn enough outside reading and use books exclusively as a form of entertainment.
tock··on GPT-6 Astra
1. It literally learns on data and gives outputs based on the context. I'm sure real time updating of weights will happen sooner than later.

2. What does intelligence have to do with feelings? It clearly doesn't learn like a human. Nor does it have to. Our world is filled with intelligence which behaves nothing like humans. Its a tool not another life form.

tock··on GPT-6 Astra
Why does it need to empathise with something that doesn't have feelings in the first place? It clearly can learn from context. And experience? Again I don't see why it needs to feel anything.

tock··on Anthropic's best AI model struggles to attract users as cheaper tools thrive
LLM frontier companies are more akin to infrastructure like chips and airplanes and the internet than applications built on top of it. There will be products built on top of them that generate revenue.

eg. processors are needed for everything on the planet. No Intel isn't going to generate annual revenue in the trillions because of that. In the case of frontier companies the moat is even smaller with dozens of players competing. LLMs will become a low-cost commodity. You meanwhile can make billions building applications using them though.

I see it's important but trillions? How did you quantify that number?
tock··on Bun 1.4
Claude Code has millions of users and like I said had been using the 1.4 canary a lot earlier than 3 months. But even 3 months is an absurdly impressive timeline for this. And its even more insane to think LLMs are only going to get better. Jeez.
tock··on Bun 1.4
1.4 also adds a lot of features so its more than a port. Plus Claude Code has been using the rust port since atleast July 19. So its definitely less than 3 months.
tock··on Bun 1.4
> given how he pushed the release date ten times

Jared has always done that. Thats not specific to this 1.4 release.

tock··on GM Backs Sodium Ion Batteries for U.S. Grid Storage
Huh Tata is the best selling EV manufacturer in India.

Their new Chery tieup is utilizing the Freelander architecture from the Chery and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) joint venture in China instead of a pricier internal or JLR roadmap. Remember they own JLR.

This is for their new premium EV line.

tock··on 'We used acid to sabotage Microsoft hyperscale data centre construction'
Weirdly the only people I know who hates AI wholeheartedly is in tech.

Damn a GR Corolla is one of my dream cars. Super cool!

Yeah but what is a persons value economically anymore? What skillsets will enable us to continue to make a decent living till we are old?

New things are made by cobbling together existing things.

Lets see how that reasoning works out in court then. SEBI sent them a caution notice earlier asking them to stop and they didn't. Calling it a "simple arbitrage" is silly.
tock··on I design with Claude more than Figma now
Standard arbitrage? JS bought stocks worth 572 crores and sold options worth an effective short value of 8,751 crores. 15x more. You dont short 15x your long position to do arbitrage. They were moving the market to suit their positions.

And I'm saying wallstreet has a reputation of breaking the rules. Like a lot. Are you suggesting regulatory bodies in the US are somehow better? The whitehouse literally has a shitcoin.
tock··on I design with Claude more than Figma now
Beautiful ragebait :)
tock··on I design with Claude more than Figma now
Bloomberg is not some universally unbiased source respected by everyone in the world. And SEBI is a trusted entity for most Indians. Most Indians trusting SEBI over Bloomberg shouldn't be shocking.

Again. Be better. Even if you disagree with the person you had no excuse for being such a vile person. Look inwards and fix yourself.

tock··on I design with Claude more than Figma now
I hope you are a bot. Because its just sad if you are a real person with such hatred within them. Why exactly are you mad right now? Because someone called out Bloomberg publishing an incorrect article regarding India recently? And that prompted you to type out such vile sentences?

HN, 2026.

Have you actually looked into the allegations and the response from Jane Street? By your logic companies can commit any fraud in India because if they get caught you can just say: hey cant trust the country.
tock··on If America's so rich, how'd it get so sad?
No the claim that religion is a major reason for science.

> How could there have ever been religious men of science?

Oh I have no problem with this. There will be religious scientists and non religious scientists. Just like there will be scientists who like red vs scientists who like blue. Being a scientist doesn't mean they are immune to broader cultural trends.
