tmccrary55··on Apple unveils new iPad mini with breakthrough performance in new design
Yeah... walk into a grocery store and ask all of the people using Android if they're using Calyx or graphene.
tmccrary55··on Apple unveils new iPad mini with breakthrough performance in new design
You're the only one talking about a "degoogled phone."
tmccrary55··on Apple unveils new iPad mini with breakthrough performance in new design
Especially weird (though understandable) because it's basically "Doesn't scan your device and send the information to a corporation and the government" when Android basically does that everywhere, all the time.

But Android does it for profit, Apple does it "for the children."

USB-C is a requirement on any device I buy these days.

The amount of annoyance at tracking down a micro-usb cable and plugging it in has surprised me more than I thought.

whoa a performance bump!
tmccrary55··on Drugs mimicking effects of cigarette smoke reduce Covid's ability to enter cells
Nicotine is a strong appetite suppressant.

With cigarettes, I don't think the worst aspect is nicotine but everything else like tar, burning material, etc.

Nicotine itself is pretty similar to caffeine.

tmccrary55··on Web-based editor
Same here. I've been told by various people how fast and efficient it is but it uses as much memory as a Windows VM and the code completion is screwed up 50% of the time for MS tech (and worse for others).

It is usable just not very good, yet.

Ah I see what you mean.
tmccrary55··on Iced: A cross-platform GUI library for Rust, inspired by Elm
It sure looks like it's using the DOM in the inspector.

Which is cool but a custom rendered UI would be cooler.

tmccrary55··on A DIY E-bike Conversion on the Cheap
I upgraded from a Trek xm700+ with a front shock. Both served me well but I don't miss the shock.

Yep, they're both commuter/cruiser type bikes, so probably not best offroad.

Both have the top end Bosch Class 3 motor, so they're usually against the rules on trails in my area.

tmccrary55··on A DIY E-bike Conversion on the Cheap
"cheap" and "ebike" don't really belong together.

A cheap bicycle is extremely dangerous, so a much faster cheap bicycle is crazy.

tmccrary55··on A DIY E-bike Conversion on the Cheap
I have a Trek Allant+ 9.9S that is shockless.

tmccrary55··on The new ProtonMail has passed its independent security audit
It looks like that doesn't happen for me any longer on Android or Web UI.

Maybe I'll reevaluate switching again, thanks!

tmccrary55··on The new ProtonMail has passed its independent security audit
I wish I could use 2FA and not have to enter a code every time I open the app.

That and the total lack of useful search sent me back to big G.

Is the Apple TV better than the Nvidia Shield? I bought one of the tubes and that thing is slick as hell.
