tmaly··on Gemini 3 Flash: Frontier intelligence built for speed
Not for coding but for the design aspect, 3 outshines 2.5
tmaly··on GPT-5.2
I can't keep up with half the new features all the model companies keep rolling out. I wish they would solve that
tmaly··on GPT-5.2
seems to be eating something
tmaly··on Last quarter I rolled out Microsoft Copilot to 4k employees
100%
tmaly··on Golang's big miss on memory arenas
What's to prevent someone from implementing arenas in the user space as a stand alone module?
tmaly··on Adobe Brings Photoshop, Express and Acrobat Features to ChatGPT
I think I would rather have them build out the APIs for these applications and publish better documentation. That way we could roll our own MCP etc.
tmaly··on Rust: Proof of Concept, Not Replacement
I would honestly like a simpler language that has memory safety and speed of C where the compiler handles a lot of the work.
tmaly··on The Math Legend Who Just Left Academia–For an AI Startup Run by a 24-Year-Old
did anyone else open the article and get the feeling he was leaving academia for a different reason.
tmaly··on The RAM shortage comes for us all
that is an understatement
tmaly··on OpenAI declares 'code red' as Google catches up in AI race
I did notice a bug on the iPhone, even with app background refresh, if the phone shuts off the screen, a prompt that was processing stalls out.
tmaly··on Mistral 3 family of models released
I see several 3.x versions on Openrouter.ai, any idea which of those are the new models?
tmaly··on Claude Opus 4.5
what is the typical usage pattern that would result in these cost figures?
tmaly··on Show HN: Vibe Prolog
Have you considered asking for a version in assembly?
tmaly··on Cloudflare Global Network experiencing issues
What are the odds this is a human configuration error related to DNS?
tmaly··on Protect your consciousness from AI
I am perfectly okay with offloading low value mental work to an LLM just to recoup time to spend with my family. The modern world has way too many demands that just suck up time.
tmaly··on Tell HN: OpenAI now requires ID verification and won't refund API credits
Didn't Sam try to make an iris scanning startup at some point?
tmaly··on Tell HN: X is opening any tweet link in a webview whether you press it or not
A lot of teachers also stopped using it around the same time. This was unfortunate as it was an amazing source for project ideas for students.
tmaly··on Tell HN: X is opening any tweet link in a webview whether you press it or not
Reddit does something similar in some way but not like this.

I often save links to posts from Reddit in my Obsidian note app. Just copying the link marks it that you shared the link and artificially increases stats in that manner.

tmaly··on YouTube AI error costs creator his channel over alleged link to Japanese account
This is a very difficult situation for creators. It is a hassle, but spreading videos out across different platforms seems to be the only viable solution. This is not great as some platforms bring more revenue than others.
tmaly··on YouTube Just Ate TV. It's Only Getting Started
I love paying the extra for Paramount+ on Amazon Prime to avoid the ads only to find out that does not include Paramount ads.
tmaly··on Is Sora the beginning of the end for OpenAI?
We were promised AGI and all we are getting is Bob Ross coloring on the walls of a Target store.

The app is fun to use for about 10 minutes then that is it.

Same goes for Grok imagine. All people want to do is generate NSFW content.

What happened to improving the world?

tmaly··on Public trust demands open-source voting systems
there are even ways that paper ballots can fail. there needs to be a better process that has proper controls and checks regardless of the format used.
tmaly··on Ask HN: Are you structuring knowledge for Agent usage
I never considered that idea of treating the code and company as executable knowledge.

I am trying to figure out how to structure the unstructured human knowledge like the design docs, Confluence pages, process notes into an ontology or graph that an agent or a human can query to understand how and why systems work the way they do.

tmaly··on Gemini 3.0 spotted in the wild through A/B testing
I had the same feeling when 2.5 pro was initially released, but it seemed like after a while they quantized the model.
tmaly··on Retiring Windows 10 and Microsoft's move towards a surveillance state
I am still on Windows 10. The secure book on my bios doesn't seem to work and so I can't upgrade to Windows 11 yet.
tmaly··on Show HN: How Useless Are You? A brutally honest skills check
I lead a team that is more quick reaction with same day or next day turn around times.

I often have to coordinate with multiple technical and customer facing teams.

This system does not seem to evaluate rapid situations like that very well. I was surprised by the results.

tmaly··on RFK Jr pushes fringe claim linking autism to circumcision
When I read the title, I honestly thought this was a meme
tmaly··on The collapse of the econ PhD job market
Given all the revisions in the government numbers, people are waking up to the reality that most of these numbers do not reflect reality.
tmaly··on Jeff Bezos says AI is in a bubble but society will get 'gigantic' benefits
my 486sx with math co-processor is long gone.
tmaly··on The AI emperor has no clothes
For regular users, LLM's are great, but the $20 a month subscriptions are not covering the bills.

Eventually, the music will stop and people will start looking at the cash flow.

It may take a bubble pop, but eventually business will figure out some good use cases that make sense. This happened with the DotCom.
