tkvtkvtkvtkv··on Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us
I've never been motivated by money and I've been lucky to have had intellectually rewarding jobs for most of my career.

I get paid enough not to have to worry about money for the most part (although I still can't afford a house, but then who can).

My motivation comes from curiosity, difficult problems, or feeling that other people need my work.

One thing that completely shuts-down my motivation is imposed competition. I have absolutely no interest in doing a task to beat someone else or get there first if those motivators are imposed from without. However, sometimes I am motivated from within to make something a competition, I just don't want the competition to be mandatory.

tkvtkvtkvtkv··on Being vegan isn’t as good for humanity as you think
In future all meat will be genetically engineered and grown in bioreactors, and it will be cheaper higher quality and suffering-free. As a result, the line between meat and vegetable will blur as to become irrelevant. We will engineer custom food according to nutritional needs and taste. That's assuming the corporations don't fuck everything up with their stupid greedy patent laws.

lack of imagination. People generally only imagine variations of things they've recently seen and since most computer games are FPS (copied all the way back to Doom and before) that's what they do. People just copy what they've seen before.
