tiuPapa··on Why Facebook still seems to spy on you
Seems to is not the right choice of words, I feel
tiuPapa··on Ask HN: How to find profitable side project idea?
I think there is also a C) You might just be lucky when the other guys weren't. Sometimes, luck is as much a factor as hard work.
tiuPapa··on Electron is flash for the desktop (2016)
Ah yes, but I was speaking more about apps that uses Electron to view their web page like Spotify or Discord
tiuPapa··on Electron is flash for the desktop (2016)
I get how Electron is useful. What I don't get is the why of it. Why should I have open another browser engine when I could just access it on my browser that I already have running.
tiuPapa··on Vim Is Saving Me Hours of Work When Writing Books and Courses
Ah I see your point. What I was trying to say is that learning Vim is a separate commitment. If you are not prepared to make that commitment, Vim will slow you down instead of speeding you up.
tiuPapa··on Vim Is Saving Me Hours of Work When Writing Books and Courses
Not OP, but I think the argument is that Vim isn't a magic editor that would make you fast out of the box. And if you just want to get work done without concentrating on learning a new skill, maybe you should look at other options?
tiuPapa··on Ask HN: How bad is freelancing?
So one thing I am not really sure is how I can build a network where I can find regular contracts? Especially just starting out?
tiuPapa··on Spotify will now suspend or terminate accounts it finds are using ad blockers
I use uBlock Origin and I still receive ads on Spotify. Am I in the clear or not? (I would pay for it but Spotify keeps delaying Indian launch)
tiuPapa··on Reddit Set to Land $150M Investment from a Chinese Censorship Powerhouse
It is hard to resist that call of Goku but I will honor the sanctity of HN and not do that here anymore.
tiuPapa··on Reddit Set to Land $150M Investment from a Chinese Censorship Powerhouse
KAAA MEEE HAAAA MEEEE MONEEEEEEEEEY is all that matters.
tiuPapa··on Show HN: Simple way to share state using React Hooks and Context

tiuPapa··on Show HN: Simple way to share state using React Hooks and Context
How does using a state management library prevent rerender of vast chunks of UI? Isn't that the responsibility of the react's reconciliation algorithm? Is there any way of fine-tuning the rendering, purely from a state-management perspective (I know about Pure Components and shouldComponentUpdate lifecycle hooks)? I am genuinely curious.
tiuPapa··on Why Nasa Converted Its Lessons-Learned Database into a Knowledge Graph
Thanks for that book recommendation.
tiuPapa··on Why Nasa Converted Its Lessons-Learned Database into a Knowledge Graph
I would love to read the DGraph paper.
tiuPapa··on Why Nasa Converted Its Lessons-Learned Database into a Knowledge Graph
Why so? From their site, it looks like they are not really selling a grpah db but a webapp. Lots of application are written in NodeJs.
tiuPapa··on Why Nasa Converted Its Lessons-Learned Database into a Knowledge Graph
So one thing I still don't understand is whether Neo4J a pure graph database is better than using something like AegensGraph[0] or Cayley[1], which uses a pre-existing DB engine for their persistent layer. If yes, what are the advantages? Is it something that totally depends on the use case? If it is, what criteria should be used to make a decision?

tiuPapa··on $190M missing after crypto exchange Quadriga CEO dies
Not true. Things have improved vastly in the health administration sector, especially when it comes to records. Corruption is indeed rampant but I think most Indians themselves have a very Bollywood-y idea about how things happen outside of their circle. So for a foreign official, outright faking it would be tough, until its somewhere deep in the rural parts (with little connection to the outside world). I think its more plausible that he committed suicide and the records are being altered, not faked.

Source: I have family working in this sector. Shit is difficult, especially if you are a foreign personal.

tiuPapa··on Memory usage of a toy C# server and client with 500K concurrent connections on
I have used both and its hard to argue that goroutines and channels are as easy to use as async/await.
tiuPapa··on Movfuscator – Single instruction C compiler
If the attackers can't do anything how will they DoS them? Wait I think I understand now how it can be implemented on the directly on the quantum foam of the vacuum.
tiuPapa··on Valve Breaks the Shackles of Proton
Damn the meme is strong.
tiuPapa··on Show HN: Convert article in current tab to readable form and upload it to IPFS
> all the information I consume (reading, watching, listening, etc) should be available to me for recall. Changes and current availability of the source must not affect my copy.

Reminds me of Github's forks

tiuPapa··on Show HN: Convert article in current tab to readable form and upload it to IPFS
So kinda like a GitHub for your browsing history?
tiuPapa··on Reahl – A Python-only web framework
So how does this work? So is this like a templating where instead of writing a template file, you write an app using widgets and element functions that the framework provides and then stitch together an HTML page when requested and send to the browser?
tiuPapa··on Disable Flash support by default in Firefox 69
Not true. Browsers work with file addresses on your system. You can download an HTML file and all its JS and CSS and if navigate to the path of the HTML on the disk, the website would just behave as if it were served by a static server.
tiuPapa··on Startups Rejecting Venture Capital
Cool to know. Do you use any framework for the backend? And if you don't mind what's the project? I am thinking about using Rust for one of my projects but I am still unsure if I should use it instead of something like NodeJs or Python.
tiuPapa··on Startups Rejecting Venture Capital
> Backend in C++

Why? Is that simply because you are more familiar with the language or does the project actually require the raw power of Cpp?

tiuPapa··on How I Built a $5K a Month Side Project
Ah, interesting
tiuPapa··on How I Built a $5K a Month Side Project
What's code war?
tiuPapa··on Ask HN: What was your experience using a graph database?
Good question, I should probably add this to my original question. Personally, I am trying to build a recommendation engine of sorts and I think Graph DB is suited for this but I am no expert.
tiuPapa··on State Machines and the Strange Case of Mutating API
I think this is a feature of Rust's ownership model.
