titel··on Show HN: Grrrid, an RSS reader focused on images
Seems interesting for designers or for photographers who mainly subscribe to image centric content.

It definitely deserves more up-votes!

titel··on Make Better Select Boxes with Chosen
http://jquerytools.org/ includes a comprehensive implementation of the unimplemented HTML5 form elements; definitely worth checking out.
titel··on CNet's Download.com now bundling Nmap with malware
I'm not saying this is right or wrong.. but there is something worth pointing out.

Technically speaking Download.com is not modifying the original EXE file as some people alleged but using an 'download manager' to intermediate the download of the file.

The bundled 'malware' comes inside this intermediary application and does not touch the original installer other than downloading it to the disk.

titel··on Lamer News
I really don't feel this is the right approach to come up with a HN alternative.

Maybe Hacker News has it's issues but, even if it Lamer News were a better option I do not think that somebody mocking 'competitors' (even though to be fair that is not even close - as this new site is only days old - as compared to HN) is a 'leader' worth following in forming a new community.

titel··on Ask HN: Open-source alternatives of Gmail?
Have you checked RoundCube out? It's a modern and open source self hosted email client - http://roundcube.net/
titel··on Soft32 Updater Stay up-to-date with your software
Secunia PSI seems to be oriented towards the more geeky, security concerned audience, while the Soft32 Updater is trying to scratch the itch of software updates for the 'regular' user.

Disclaimer: I'm part of the Soft32.com team

titel··on Zendesk raises their prices 60%-300%, users predictably revolt
Unfortunately this kind of moves from different companies affect the entire SaaS space.

There has always been a degree of uncertainty when committing your business to one service like this... what if they increase the prices? what if they will close? what if they turn bad and close my data behind a payed wall? will they be able to keep the service up most of the time (just think of the time when Gmail went down..)? And so on...

This is only going to make this worries a bigger issue when choosing to commit to one of these services.
