throwmeback··on An Exercise Program for the Fat Web
It's also hella buggy on macOS for me, which is irritating - my browser is the only thing I need to work 100% of the time. As much as I'd like to reduce Google's browser monopoly, I consciously choose to make this one exception.
throwmeback··on Music Hijacks Our Perception of Time (2014)
And I'm very grateful for that!
throwmeback··on South Korean students flock to Japan
Those are my daily thoughts about my country. The problem is that if I move away, all my friends will still be there and be miserable, which makes a tough decision to make.
throwmeback··on How I Run a Company with ADHD
That sounds like my GP. I struggle with anxiety, depression and obesity among other things. Every time I go to an appointment with them I hear "Well, it's all in the head you know."

I hate this and it's the case with most GPs, at least in my country. I genuinely just wish my therapist was also my GP.

throwmeback··on What to Do About Inequality (2012)
...why?
throwmeback··on Apple face-recognition blamed by New York teen for false arrest
His name (Ousmane Bah) sounds African in origin.

This of course means nothing as I'm no clairvoyant, but we know face recognition tends to favour some colours over others.

throwmeback··on Reasons to turn down the transmit power of your Wi-Fi (2017)
I remember finding out Americans build walls differently than Europe. The stories about finding insect nests in walls sound insane for me to this day.

throwmeback··on Reasons to turn down the transmit power of your Wi-Fi (2017)
Some devices also have a AP priority list, it's worth checking out if they can be modified (e.g. like on macOS).
throwmeback··on Ask HN: Is all programming constantly changing or just front-end JavaScript?
I think the subparent meant the developer experience - this counts as playing as well.
throwmeback··on Society Needs an Alternative Web
...or alt-left...
throwmeback··on PureOS is convergent
Especially that connecting to the web version is so brilliantly simple (just scan the QR code on the computer screen with your phone). Maybe OP didn't have a computer at hand?
throwmeback··on U.S. users are leaving Facebook by the millions, Edison Research says
I used this method on my friends'/family phones where I can't just flash an AOSP-based ROM. That will change now that I found out about debloating through ADB.
throwmeback··on U.S. users are leaving Facebook by the millions, Edison Research says
I opted out of all emails altogether - I only check my notifications once in a while. I've never missed anything of value.
throwmeback··on Paris's Rue Cremieux Has an Instagram Problem
>Hire 2 fat guys to stand around shirtless drinking beers to ruin the photos. Eventually the tourists will slow down.

I'll take a photo with them - it'd be 3 fat guys standing around shirtless drinking beers. :')

throwmeback··on Oldest Viable Laptop (2017)
Bridging the solder points of the blown micro fuse is a very easy job even if you're clumsy with such jobs (trust me, I'm pretty much a klutz). It'll be a shame if you just leave the otherwise working laptop dead.
throwmeback··on Ask HN: Why is there no activity indicator when an iPhone's camera is on?
Same when using Nintendo 3DS cameras.
throwmeback··on Hayabusa-2: Japan Spacecraft Touches Down on Asteroid
Yeah, it's kinda nostalgic in that it reminds me of those hacker-ish designs of late '90-'00s. Cohesive, readable, not too much whitespace.
throwmeback··on How Not to Do Time Tracking for Software Developers
And there I was feeling weird having to manage 2 time trackers at work.
throwmeback··on Advent of Code 2018, in Coq
You may have just ruined all the fun for me.

I'm pronouncing it like "coque" from now on.

throwmeback··on 16 Inch MacBook Pro and Other Apple Products predicted coming in 2019
My excuse is that it feels nice to press. Simple as that.

I miss tactile keyboards and button on smart devices in general. I enjoyed using them a lot more back in the dumbphone days. Even one of my synths (Yamaha Reface DX) has a uselessly touch-based workflow that steers people away from it, even though it's an amazing synthesizer.

I understand why we made the leap to lose physical keyboards though, don't get me wrong.

As for your Touch ID point - yep, same!

throwmeback··on We Lost Our Ability to Mend
I talked with my GF about this. She said that "My boyfriend fixed my fridge the other day" is the ultimate boast nowadays.
throwmeback··on 16 Inch MacBook Pro and Other Apple Products predicted coming in 2019
I want my Touch ID/Home button back.

EDIT: Downvotes? Really?

throwmeback··on Skype contact lists may have been exposed (2017)
I exclusively use Chromium or privacy-oriented forks on my devices, so I'll be sticking to the user-agent faking for now. Thanks for the clarification though!
throwmeback··on Man discovers 30 year old Apple computer still in working order
Nintendo Switch isn't the most durable device. I attribute this to the sheer complexity of the device - they did what they could to while cutting some corners here and there to make the device affordable. And it's a massive success.
throwmeback··on Why can’t a bot tick the 'I'm not a robot' box?
I mean, even Reddit feels less and less like Reddit nowadays...
throwmeback··on Robot Melts Its Bones to Change How It Walks
I giggled.

My company suddenly jumped to Office 365 recently. We now have to use the "Mobile" versions of all Office apps (they don't even appear in the Windows Store search for me). It feels like a preschool version of an actual Office Suite.

We've been testing Teams for a week and nobody has used it ever since. It doesn't delivers a message and then it disappear; the calls often work only one-way. To use it on Linux, you have to fake your user-agent. It's laughably bad.

throwmeback··on Gates Foundation annual letter
I don't get why you're getting downvoted.
throwmeback··on Millennials still recognise songs from music’s 1960s-90s golden age, study finds
I don't have much time because I'm at work, so I won't write everything I have on my mind. I've been in your spot before, I also have perfect pitch (which I'd argue is irrelevant to the discussion) and I severely disagree. There's more music being produced than ever before. There is a vast amount of music you didn't listen to yet - it's humanly impossible to sift through it all. There's obviously a lot of cheap, quickly produced music, but IMHO the way you describe it makes it feel like "music died 15 years ago". It didn't. E.g. we still have readily identifiable trends in music (eg. indie, vaporwave, chillwave, trap beats).

Filling up concert halls isn't a viable way of measuring an artist's achievement in the internet age for me. People go to concert just because they know the band's name, because someone bought them a ticket or because the media built up the hype.

As for melodies - we won't run out of them anytime soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAcjV60RnRw
