All this energy wasted mining a virtual currency that no one uses.
We have to ask ourselves: is Bitcoin mining really the best use of our resources? Is it worth adding to our already engorged carbon footprints?

Since I've forced myself to go to sleep no later than 11, I've realized that hey, I actually am a morning person.
Not that I'm complaining. The new design is just...weird?
Can we bypass this with a combination of numbers and universal symbols?
Getting from $1k to $10k/month is much easier. You have momentum, traffic, and some authority.
If you have 12+ months of content and backlinks, you will have a much better foundation for getting organic traffic once you do launch.
Email is control. You get someone's email once, you get to control how often you contact them. You can send them hundreds of messages for next to no cost - as long as they don't hit 'unsubscribe'
But if you can't rely on email, what do you turn to? Ads, of course!
I get that there are some nasty actors that abuse your privacy. But as a consumer, I've never felt that spam was that big an issue to begin with, at least not big enough to warrant small businesses ceding control and having to rely on Google and Facebook to reach their audiences.
The search function is still as broken as ever. There is a useless "People" tab near the clock that hogs my memory. Then there is that other useless thing - Cortana. There are random noises for whatever error or notification that keeps playing in the background. Permission control is still completely broken. The Control Panel is a confused mess.
If I could go back to Windows 7, I might still be interested in keeping a Windows laptop. But 10 just keeps getting in my way. I just want to launch Chrome and use Google Docs, but Windows wants to distract me with a million little nuisances.
I can't deal with a software that constantly gets in the way of my work. I gave Windows a lot of tries, but the latest edition was the last straw for me. Never going back.
The author has spent hours creating a useful guide that he is giving away for free in exchange for an email address. He likely hopes to tap into this audience later for a paid product.
Reaching this audience via email is cheap and easy. He can email them as many times as he wants, even if he doesn't want to sell them anything.
But because of GDPR, he can't depend on email so much. He has to rely on other tactics to reach his audience again.
And what are those tactics?
Paid advertising, of course.
No one stands to benefit more from GDPR than Google and Facebook. Everyone here cheering for GDPR needs to think how it placed all the advertising power away from mediums you can control (email) and over to ad companies.
As a consumer, you can unsubscribe and block emails easily. As a creator, you can set up a mail server easily.
You can't do that with ads, at least without relying on outside tech
This should bother anyone. 0 to $1B in market cap in 12 months is about as 'bubble' as you can get
The last time I was excited for a game was Age of Mythology back in 2002.
Nintendo solves the biggest complaint I have with modern games: they just take themselves way too seriously. So many are just trying to become wish fulfillment vehicles instead of actually being fun.
I don't care about story or sitting through 10 minute cut scenes. I don't have that kind of time or patience. If I wanted story, I'd watch HBO and get far better stuff.
I just want to launch and have fun for 30 minutes.
Nintendo gets that.
I remember following Scott Adams, whose work I enjoyed. Before he started talking about Trump, he had some 40k followers.
Since Trump, his follower count has ballooned to 250k and he almost exclusively talks about Trump now
You do know that there is a pretty healthy distance from being "sex-phobic" to this, right?
Who would have thought that a company that offers this could have a dark side?
VR goggles are the opposite of laziness for me.
Too much effort required to set everything up. Why do that much work for little reward if I can just sit back in my couch with a remote and play a game?
Everything has existed on the plane of theory and whitepapers so far.
Nearly a decade after BTC's release and nearly half a decade after's ETH, shouldn't there be a few mainstream applications using them?
