throwawa14223··on Jack Dorsey launches Buzz to combine team chat, AI agents and Git hosting
Jack Dorsey has figured out how to make chat worse by adding LLMs.
throwawa14223··on AI Mania Is Eviscerating Global Decision-Making
This matches my experience. Leadership gives us a weekly "AI is amazing, it's world changing, we're using it for everything". Every project using AI is at least six months late. My team gets praised for using it effectively but we're the team that turned it off. We had an SLA violation because Copilot hallucinated a service we don't have that it claimed was down and we can't convince ops that the service literally doesn't exist. Any amount of time AI could have saved me has been swallowed up tenfold by everyone else having access to it and I hate what work has become.
throwawa14223··on The Exhaustion of Talking to a Tool
I feel this. These tools are viscerally unpleasant. Meetings used to be the thing I didn't look forward to but chatting with an AI is the new low point. Reading AI generated text is the written word equivalent of nails on a chalkboard.
throwawa14223··on Honesty gets Emacs patch rejected
They are adapting to the times, they banned LLMs.
throwawa14223··on Nearly half of LG smart TV apps contain residential proxy SDKs
So is there a residential proxy blacklist I can run on my firewall? Any action I can take as an admin to put a stop to this?
throwawa14223··on Ask HN: How do you get into a flow state when using AI to code?
Never, has made my programming joyless and boring. If it wasn't a requirement to keep my job I'd never touch it.
throwawa14223··on Ask HN: Why is the HN crowd so anti-AI?
Why do workers dislike being charged to rent scab labor from their oppressors?
throwawa14223··on Accenture to acquire Ookla
May it fail and take Accenture with them.
throwawa14223··on Green card seekers must leave U.S. to apply, Trump administration says
That would be amazing.
throwawa14223··on The American Rebellion Against AI Is Gaining Steam
#1 seems like the worst possible dystopia. We should shoot for #2 and have #3 as a fallback. The Culture is the worst dystopia I am capable of imagining.
throwawa14223··on Ask HN: When did computers stop being fun?
For me it's the advent of LLMs. AI is boring.
throwawa14223··on Mozilla's opposition to Chrome's Prompt API
Another reason to criminally prosecute the AI industry.
throwawa14223··on Mozilla's opposition to Chrome's Prompt API
The goal should not be to include something because there is a use case but because the use case so stunningly obvious that this should become part of what every browser must implement.

It is clear this can be done without being part of the standard as is shown by the fact that it is already done. So it has no place in the standard.

throwawa14223··on AI Resistance: some recent anti-AI stuff that’s worth discussing
This is probably going to sound alien. Socialism is ontologically evil. Regardless of outcome or positive it produces there is a moral obligation to stop the state from doing something like UBI.
throwawa14223··on Mozilla's opposition to Chrome's Prompt API
It is non-obvious that adding an LLM to a web browser makes anything better for the web browser user.
throwawa14223··on Mozilla's opposition to Chrome's Prompt API
I do not want text generation in the web API at all.
throwawa14223··on AI Resistance: some recent anti-AI stuff that’s worth discussing
I firmly believe AI is a surefire path to UBI. It's made me radically anti-AI.
throwawa14223··on Democratic AI to serve the public – OneProject.org
I'm not an AI booster at all but democratizing a bleeding edge tech is the worst of all worlds.
throwawa14223··on Pentagon Adopts New Limits for Journalists After Court Loss
This seems like the sanest solution.
throwawa14223··on Wayland set the Linux Desktop back by 10 years?
I don’t get all of what’s going on but from the outside it seems like the xLibre guys got a lot of negative attention for doing that.
throwawa14223··on We mourn our craft
But why would someone pay you for that?
throwawa14223··on Tesla kills Autopilot, locks lane-keeping behind $99/month fee
Just like all subscriptions this kills my interest in it. Tech is only interesting if it isn’t locked in a corporate data center.
throwawa14223··on Calibre adds AI "discussion" feature
Why is it obvious they are here to stay?
throwawa14223··on European Majority favours more social media regulation
Good thing that "“The Internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.”.
throwawa14223··on Mozilla's new CEO is doubling down on an AI future for Firefox
How can they be this oblivious?
throwawa14223··on Ask HN: Is starting a personal blog still worth it in the age of AI?
AI doesn't change anything. If it was worth doing it is still worth doing.
throwawa14223··on The Undermining of the CDC
I do not think it is fair to label a fear of communism or socialism as irrational.
throwawa14223··on The Undermining of the CDC
And we had people believing he was telling the truth long after he changed course. His lie cost us all.
throwawa14223··on The Fatal Trap UBI Boosters Keep Falling Into
The rightful share is radically lower than it would be set democratically. Taxation above a certain point is a form of oppressive injustice.
throwawa14223··on Orion 1.0
I love everything about Orion except it steals focus when I click a link in e-mail or another application. Does anyone know if there's a way to change the behavior to be like Safari's background link behavior?
