throw2bit··on United States Expatriation at an All-Time High
I understand the air of superiority in your comment. You can keep that to yourself and go back to your colonial days. By the way, what you think about this ? Isnt it stupid to call it a world series ? As a European, will you call it the world series ?

throw2bit··on United States Expatriation at an All-Time High
Thats a common misconception and ignorance of western world in action. Just like they call their native Americans as Indians. And when they say "world", they really mean the North American continent. When they say immigrants, they mean third world people, and when they say expats, its first world country citizens.

These misconceptions will change once the solipsistic cloud over the western world clears out.

throw2bit··on United States Expatriation at an All-Time High
Its funny to see if a first world country citizen moves to another country he is called an Expat and the third world citizens are called immigrants.

A common misconception. If you have given up your US citizenship, you are an immigrant. Not an expat.

throw2bit··on Ask HN: How to sell your app/side project while working full-time?
Don't you understand ? Using Paypal anyone can sell from anywhere in the world. Why are you still insisting on Stripe ? "Stripe allows purchases from over 135 countries". I want my product to be sold all over the world. Stripe don't do that. Stripe has a good API than Paypal and it ends there. I ditched Stripe for Paypal and I never looked back, sales from everywhere in the world, rather than customer's emailing me..."It says cannot accept my card"
throw2bit··on Ask HN: How to sell your app/side project while working full-time?
It was when I tried it way back. Didnt care to check back. My customers are from everywhere around the world. Not only from those petty list of countries that Stripe supports. I cant tell them, sorry you cannot buy my product because the payment processor dont support your country. What a turn off it will be for the customers.
throw2bit··on Ask HN: How to sell your app/side project while working full-time?
Stripe is US only and very bad charge back fees and worst dispute resolution. After losing a lot of money by using Stripe as a small time side projector, I recommend using PayPal, they have all that Stripe provides. I don't understand why people go behind Stripe. Because Stripe is cool ? Paypal has everything Stripe has plus zero dispute fees. Stripe has 15$ fees. You will feel the burn when you have lot of disputes which are common. Stripe has statistically favoured customers in disputes as far as my sales. So I ditched Stripe way back. Let Stripe be equal to PayPal. Otherwise using Stripe do not give you much advantage.

Edit: Stripe is not US only, but the countries that they support is very limited. Not recommended if your product has worldwide customers.

Thats great. But why is this on hackernews ? Whats the relevance ? There is a single page linked to this.
throw2bit··on Most unicorn founders are graduates of Stanford, Harvard, and the IITs
IIT grads get funded to study using taxpayers money in India and they migrate to the US. There is no use for the country funding them with high quality education. We should stop funding IITs with tax payers money which is of no benefit to the people or the country. India's brain drain.
throw2bit··on Why I deleted my Facebook account
I am happy to leave Facebook. But what will I tell the US govt if they ask for my social media ? I frequently fly in & out of US and not a citizen.
throw2bit··on How much is 5% of Saudi Aramco based on DCF Model?
FYI, US is not the only country which have cars. Do not peg everything with whats in US. Its pure solipsism. The demand for oil will rise from developing nations in the near future. Rise of Tesla ? Everywhere else in the world, we havent heard of Tesla. If a company makes it big in the US market, it doesnt mean its a success everywhere else.
throw2bit··on 70 job interviews in 17 days
Person of color here. Everyone else have to struggle a bit more. I am not automatically privileged like the whites are born into. I changed my name in the resume to a white name just for a test and surprisingly got more interview requests.

Call center in India ? But but but ... you guys said Indians are taking jobs away from the US. Why cant business be profitable with call center in the US itself. Greedy corps wants profits, outsource it and then innocent Indian employees gets the flak for it. Just wow !

First world country problems. In India, we dont really care. And China ofcourse. So half of the world dont care and I dont think India and China has any penetration or audience for these services.

throw2bit··on Venture investors blast US decision to withdraw from Paris Climate Accord
Climate change and immigration are the two topics that Trump can use to his benefit without the fear getting bitten back.

Immigrants have no say or voting rights. They can be used as a drum to do the pow wow ing. Earth wont talk back. Two perfect candidates.

throw2bit··on Venture investors blast US decision to withdraw from Paris Climate Accord
Its truly tragic that the US and US medias are clouded by solipsism that they phrase their sentences like that.
throw2bit··on India’s Bad Debt Is Looking Better to Investors
Well why dont you censor posts which throws dirt on non white countries without any factual evidence. The OP article is a yellow page journalism and you are ok with that ? It looks likes only posts and comments agreeable to western demographic are welcome here. Everything else is inflammatory ?
throw2bit··on Are laws like the French ban on emails after work saving us or burying our jobs?
I expect to see American IT engineer's comment "yeah I don't respond to work email or issues after work". Its because they have Indian H1Bs working round the clock. Any greedy American corp has Indian IT engineers standing by 24x7. Don't believe me ? Visit Amex dev center in Phoenix, Walmart in Bentonville, Visa in Kansas. Take a count of how many Americans are scheduled for production support. None ! .So when American IT engineers says they dont reply or respond to work related issues after work. Its at the cost of exploiting H1B employees, the very group that everyone puts the blame on for losing their jobs to and to get votes.
throw2bit··on Trump Seeks Shift in Visa Allotments Crucial to Tech Outsourcing
H1B as it should be. Only for highly skilled. It will be a severe blow to bodyshops and companies which thrive on cheap H1B workers. My prediction: Big corporations will come up with N number of reasons & lobbying because their profits depend on cheap H1B workers and outsourcing.
throw2bit··on H1B It's a lottery this time too
Looks like the outsourcing companies have defied Trump administration's paper tigers. No positive changes for the American workers from the H1B side. Fake job descriptions and unskilled workers are going to rule the roost this FY too.

If you read the comments at the bottom of the page, it shows how this visa is being abused.

All airlines in North America sucks. Take cue from Emirates and learn from them. See how they treat economy class customers. I wont think twice to fly Emirates , Etihad or Qatar.

how does paypal handle these ? When there is a dispute, I refund the amount and thats it. Paypal bears the chargeback and Stripe passes it to the merchants ?
throw2bit··on IndieHackers.com acquired by Stripe
I moved out of Stripe because stripe charges $15 for charge backs for my product worth $10. The dispute resolution mechanism sucks and it almost all the time favors the customer and stripe is US only. My product is worldwide.
throw2bit··on Ask HN: How do you make money from your side projects?
I initially charged 9$ for my desktop shareware product. This was 7 years back. I thought the app was worth only 9$ that time. But when I understood many people purchased it, I increased to 19$, then 40$ now, but with many more features over the time. I make an average of 800$/month. Stopped using Stripe because of their heavy chargeback fees and bad dispute mechanism. Uses only PayPal to accept payment.
throw2bit··on Bay Area professionals indicted for H-1B visa fraud
Another typical scheme - There are many Indian IT managers who got GreenCard around the Y2K rush. Now they are settled US citizens working in big corporation's IT depts. They setup these one room consultancies as a side business and because of their strong ties to India, they source unskilled graduates from India thru fraudulent H1B satellite "offices" in India (many fraudulent satellite H1B offices are there in Bangalore & Hyderabad in India), since H1B is a lottery, no scrutiny of candidate's skills are done by USCIS. They take the applicant's "word" for it.

Now when the big corporations have IT openings, these managers wont publish the openings in job portals. They recruits these H1Bs from their own consultancies with a high billing rate, indirectly making profits. They also take a cut from the H1Bs salary on a monthly basis as a "fees" for brining H1Bs to US.

throw2bit··on Bay Area professionals indicted for H-1B visa fraud
I am on H1B, but my job in US is being threatened by fake H1Bs from India who are willing to work on salaries lesser than mine, particularly from the state called Andhra Pradesh in India. There are many one room consultancies all over the US which runs fake payrolls and even apply something called "Future Greencards" for people who are willing to pay money. These Andhra consultancies can be found in abundance in New Jersey, Edison, and on West coast. There is even a temple in Andhra Pradesh where you can go and pray to get selected in H1B.

Even though I was a legitimate H1B worker, when the rules become strict to counter these fake H1Bs, I might also get affected, so I moved to Canada with Express Entry, which is based on skills.

Fake H1Bs cannot fake IELTS exam and Canada does thorough verification and police clearances. So that its Express Entry system is not abused like H1B system of US.
