I think I read something like this in a Schopenhauer book on Free Will: if you admit of a precognition (or subconscious) can't you, by the same reasoning, say that the subconscious has a sub-subconscious, etc?
threads2··on Octopuses caught on camera throwing things at each other
> if you never have heard of terms like "efference copy" it will be interesting food for thought about what consciousness might be

Can you expand on this? I think I kind of understand where you're going with this: consciousness might be an efference copy of our actions? (so our actions don't "surprise" us? rather than consciousness creating actions?)

threads2··on TikTok is the bane of my existence working with middle schoolers
Thanks for the thoughtful response. Gave me a lot to think about. You're right about the current school system being contrived.

Like you say though, there's no real alternative. I wish there was something else with widespread adoption.

Lots to think about here.

> What's most disturbing is the realization that a measurable percentage of humans are just f*cked up.

yeah I think that's the theme of David Lynch movies

> It also suggests that the apocalyptic movies may not be so far off when they suggest that humanity will revert to open barbarism if we're faced with a catastrophy large enough.

I think that's disproven - I saw a study where they looked at peoples' behaviour during the WWII London bombings and it was mostly characterized by Mutual Aid

threads2··on Americans Are Too Fat to Donate Their Bodies to Science (2017)
I remembered Reuters doing an expose on this about five years ago so I couldn't empathize at all with the opening of this Vice article.

This might actually be a better article. Shows some examples of how the bodies are set up to be blown up:

https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-body...

Wonder how many people would sign their bodies up for military testing if they made the distinction.

Do they ask people already in the military if they want to donate their bodies for military testing?
