thrawaway3292··on I put a toaster in the dishwasher (2012)
I can't get over the irony of doing this because one was previously wrong about something they thought they were right about.
thrawaway3292··on Cosmic Desktop: Hammering Out New Cosmic Features
> having thumbnailsupport is going to be an improvement

What is this referring to?

thrawaway3292··on India's biggest tech centers named as cyber crime hotspots
Except for the fact that it's nothing like that it's exactly like that.

It's a ridiculous effort by the Indian government that is trying to bury it's awful mismanagement of the economy at a time when nearly every factor is in India's favor (never again will India find basically every Western and non-Western leader basically begging for its support economically and geopolitically, a result of the series of massive own goals by China) by stoking crass nationalism and pretending to be a big bully on the world stage.

But there's nothing racist in the name's origin itself.

thrawaway3292··on Twitter has officially changed its logo to ‘X’
It's pretty simple to avoid that. And no one really talks about Tweeting outside the context of Twitter, which made Twitter's job way easier than say Google's, where something like "I googled you on Bing" has become an acceptable and common turn of phrase.
thrawaway3292··on VirtualBox 7.0.10 download links have disappeared
I doubt VirtualBox was even a line item on Sun's financials, so I really doubt that had anything to do with their failure.
thrawaway3292··on VirtualBox 7.0.10 download links have disappeared
Sure, but it's reasonable for most people to expect an extension they've downloaded from within the app itself might have similar licensing as the app itself.

Even if it isn't reasonable to do so, I suspect most people do indeed do so, and that's exactly what Oracle is counting on.

thrawaway3292··on Sidebery – A Firefox extension for managing tabs and bookmarks in sidebar
That's a legacy of their pre-release marketing where they were trying to be all secretive and stuff.
thrawaway3292··on Get Phones Out of Schools Now
I suspect any marginal reduction of bullying because kids are too busy with their phones is more than counteracted by the much more pervasive and persistent bullying resulting from them being able to record everything happening in school.
