That's a good question. My statement was opinion and speculation, but it would be interesting to see this backed up by data, maybe someone here can find data on percentage of a stock like TSLA for example is held by retail investors?
They made it easy for the uneducated investor to invest in companies that see the spotlight on the news. You can invest in minutes and for free now, right from your phone. These people don't do any research on the company. They see news stories on the company all the time, and news stories that the stock went up XX% So when you have people casually buying stocks I feel like they get inflated past the point that makes any sense, and thus become incredibly overvalued. Seasoned investors would see this and stay far, far away from these businesses.
One of the big differences between now and then is network capacity. Once we've gone past basic text and into 3D, Photo, Video, Timesharing could not work effectively over the internet at the time, the bandwidth wasn't there yet. The only way to continue was to bring the hardware home. Now that we have the network capacity to handle almost anything, we're seeing things go back..
They've also closed the Oshawa GM Plant, and they've reduced a shift at the FCA minivan plant. GM exited Windsor about 20 years ago. If anything the new agreement is aimed at re-balancing auto back to the US and Canada. We had a great automotive relationship in the past, it's mutually beneficial to both economies as there are strengths and weaknesses in the US industry and Canadian Industry. I'm interested to see what happens. I want to see Detroit as great as it was before NAFTA destroyed it.
Nothing is moving to Canada, there had been a pretty big exodus from Michigan and Ontario to Texas and Mexico after Nafta. They’re still closing plants in Ontario and moving them to Mexico.
16$ an hour is less than what they pay in Canada.
Source: I work for a supplier in the Automotive Capital of Canada. These comments are so egregiously false.
Luckily I bought an RCA 55" 4K TV for like 400 CAD, it's 100% dumb, HDMI and other inputs only. Got this two years ago it's probably not like this anymore.
I’m sure they’ll hold on to all the Cad Data, the issue is making sure all the suppliers have the Cad data for tooling and parts, it’s unlikely coming back after going away.
GPA is so irrelevant after like 2 years. I know high GPA individuals that didn’t do much, I know low GPA individuals that are in very high level positions, it’s a terrible indicator. People change, and work is different than academia.
I agree with this. If I buy a modern DSLR, utilizing the same tech as phones with automatic image optimization, I can only imagine how incredible the quality of the Image be by default. It's possible, but they really need to devote the engineering resources to this.
Also to be fair, this comparison isn't fair. The phone has post-processing of the images to improve quality and low-light. DSLR's give raw images so that the photo editor can make those optimizations as necessary. Also, auto-modes on DSLR's are abysmal, especially in low-light settings. A good photographer with the right settings could make the first picture look incredible.
They won't do anything to change the truck economy, it's pretty much what's keeping the big 3 alive and profitable. They get murdered by Toyota and Honda on small cars.
It's still doable with enough effort. My best friend at 32 was able to conceive even with medical issues that would make it near impossible. It took 2 years but it happened.
