thetest3r··on Automatically detecting and replying to recruiter spam
Instead of an initial, I'd recommend putting an emoji in the first name. (And putting your last name as your full name). I've been able to filter out most "InMail/auto" when they say something along the lines of "Hi {emoji}."

I learned of it here: https://www.glennstovall.com/the-wolf-test/

thetest3r··on The Dark Side of Dark Mode
I'd suggest trying Dark Reader extension for your browser. It's a life-saver for me.
thetest3r··on Ask HN: Which Wiki or internal documentation tools do you use?
Had base-tier Confluence at one company. Super nice.

thetest3r··on Show HN: The Vue.js Handbook – Free 120 pages ebook
It's reminiscent of the Succinctly series by Syncfusion. We were considering Vue at our workplace, this will make it a quick read. Thanks!
thetest3r··on Show HN: Culture Queries – The best questions to ask during your job interview
From the looks of it, when you give you email they're adding you to a job posting list... (main monetization scheme)

An additional feature might be to allow posters to also select which characteristics they have and tailor it to you...per say?

Just a guess.

thetest3r··on How does hacker news work?
Anyone is allowed to submit articles. It shows up on new, and then there's a custom algorithm that puts it in the "top of the list."

A good example is reddit.

thetest3r··on Ask HN: What charities do you donate to?
EFF. Their work is extremely relevant to those in the tech industry.
thetest3r··on Ask HN: What happens when an expert touches a noob's code?
Your question reminds me of this github example: https://gist.github.com/weakish/7428608
thetest3r··on Ask HN: Best VPN for personal use / privacy?
I personally use PIA, now the service is slower (than other services), but they've clearly proven themselves :)

thetest3r··on Ask HN: What does your company do to keep you motivated other than pay?
I work for a religious university (so the pay is meh). I would say that it's the relaxed culture in IT (I can come in any time between 8-9), good benefits, and free classes.

You're supposed to use the free classes to work on your masters but I use it to take the "fun" classes you can't during a normal college run. And the boss is okay with it :D!

thetest3r··on Ask HN: Which programming bootcamp should I attend?
Thanks for the information. I'm trying to get a job once I finish these bootcamps. many people have advised me to not take some of the bootcamps because they focus more on the frontend (HTML, CSS, Node.js).

My email is thetest3r@gmail.com.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas!
