Just seems like a clusterfuck to get the damn thing, the foundation exam is dead simple. I'm totally unsurprised by the dwindling popularity of amateur radio here. Even if the difficulty isn't the driving factor, I'm sure it deters lots of people who otherwise would be interested.
That said, I don't think there are any sites I really frequent any more [though HN is one I scan often], I've not noticed PP tip jars on the small number of sites I browse.
Had a CPU cooler fail somehow (resulting in one very toasty, unstable server) and they responded within minutes, the whole thing was probably resolved within half an hour.
I did have a question about the type of chips available, but I was too late for the last post about this.
Perhaps someone with more knowledge could enlighten me?
I've seen tons of RFID implantable chips which aren't that interesting, I've also seen NFC ones but they just look to be read/write storage...
Also, avoid TP-Link adapters as they seem to have some issue coming out of powersave mode that means I have to ping something all day to prevent them from sleeping
We've really gone back to how it "used to be" :(
Maybe, I mean I don't know about "most voters" to be honest. I certainly feel like we're defeated and will be walked all over for the rest of our sad existence
The problem is that "except for games," commercial support around Linux isn't exactly great. I'm just a developer so my needs are covered, but around me are others with different needs - decent CAD tools, Photoshop - they're not sold for Linux.
And now there's probably going to be the "well there aren't enough Linux users to justify it" but then there never could be if the software is unavailable anyway.
I'm aware that there used to be a Photoshop build for Solaris
I like that I don't _have_ to run a specific piece of software if I don't like the way it behaves/looks.
I can pick something else that gets the job done in a way I prefer
