thejazzman··on Managing AI Coding Costs at Scale
This monstrosity cost $82,000?!

thejazzman··on Improving GPT‑5.6 Sol in ChatGPT, expanding GPT‑5.6 Luna access for free users
Don’t say the last part out loud or it will be $800.
thejazzman··on Karpathy’s Pelican
iOS users spend dramatically more on e-commerce. I worked in e-commerce. Maybe it’s changed in the last 5 years. But that’s where the ops sentiment comes from.
thejazzman··on AE Studio recruiting pirates to recover treasure located by AI
You better unload yourself before the burden leads to something regretful. DM me your theory and I’ll help you cope. I’ll need precise details. Trust no one else.
thejazzman··on How AST-grep Rewrote Tree-sitter in Rust and Made It 30% Faster
It’s a load bearing poster.

thejazzman··on Buz – A fork of Bun using modern Zig, with sub-1s incremental builds
It’s a macOS thing too. I turn it off because it burns me when copying code
thejazzman··on Don't Take the Black Pill [video]
I'm probably the person ya'll are hating on. Writing code and writing code under pressure while you have a full blown anxiety attack are not the same thing. I'm lucky if I can accurately tell you what I had for breakfast once that triggers..
thejazzman··on Why Sony can't bring back its classic Walkman models
I still adore the hell out of my 512GB (SD) iPod Classic/Minis

You can buy new shells, colors, storage adapters, batteries, etc.

thejazzman··on Nativ: Run frontier open models locally on your Mac
I did. And then it rewrote it. Over and over again. And I kept restoring it. And it kept taking agency to change it to some other neutral slop.

That’s the point.

thejazzman··on Nativ: Run frontier open models locally on your Mac
You’d be surprised how hard this actually is. I spent 3 days iterating on a marketing site, where I had very explicit / “well written” copy, and it would just repeatedly rewrite it back to the most awful slop. Over and over again! Ended up adding various AGENTS rules telling it to leave the copy alone
thejazzman··on Codex Resets
It no longer works and only respects a server supplied value now
thejazzman··on OpenAI reduces Codex Model Context Size from 372k to 272k
This used to be really effective and cheap, now it lights my quota on fire, even after I fix the config and restore smaller subagents instead of like-agents

Multiple (slow) conversations seems to be the efficient path for me the past week or so

thejazzman··on Win1998
That was unexpected.
thejazzman··on Samsung Health app threatens data deletion if users opt out AI training
is this a common expression? i'm genuinely confused/curious. i am confurious.
thejazzman··on Claude Code sends 33k tokens before reading the prompt; OpenCode sends 7k
for subagents to be cheap/effective, you have to specify the size of those subagents; i.e. right now by default 5.6-sol spawns many 5.6-sol subagents. 5.4-mini as subagent saves me tons of tokens. 5.6-sol audits the work before accepting it, so there's not really a quality issue.
thejazzman··on Old and new apps, via modern coding agents
i'd imagine when microwaves first came out chefs were genuinely excited? it's pretty insanely magical to observe ... at first.

thejazzman··on What xAI's Grok build CLI sends to xAI: A wire-level analysis
So xAI now has a "legal" copy of all of Tesla's code? Convenient.

thejazzman··on Doctors die. It's not like the rest of us, but it should be (2016)
so on Lost when Jack is really upset about Charlie, and he beats the shit out of his lifeless body, ... and it worked, did he do real or fake CPR? These comments make it sound very real.
thejazzman··on FAANG Simulator
solidarity; i'm right there with you.
thejazzman··on HamsterOS: A graphical desktop OS that fits on a 1.44MB floppy
I had someone call my unreleased product slop. It’s the cool thing to do apparently.
thejazzman··on Apple raises prices of MacBooks, iPads
at a (previously) $20 price difference, why would they add a 3rd model?
thejazzman··on Mark Zuckerberg directed Meta to create a prediction markets app
I thought that was a hardware device for your wrist. Wow.
thejazzman··on Elevated error rate across multiple models
I retried Pi yesterday with GLM5.2 and Deepseek

I asked a simple question about my codebase. Pi: >60s and 100k tokens, I cancelled and gave up Claude (pointed at the same deepseek model): 17s 15k tokens

I burned my $5 GLM budget in 15 minutes.

So idk what the Pi hype is about cuz this is my 3rd disappointing try

thejazzman··on Codex logging bug may write TBs to local SSDs
why over complicate it? the answer is obviously yes? it sees it and reads the file? might it sometimes not? yeah, just like every other thing you write in agents.md or the prompt. if you want to write a more verbose statement telling it to read the other file do so. or if you really want to make damn sure it read what you wrote, then symlink it, because it does in fact read the thing twice.
thejazzman··on Deno Desktop
I'm so sincerely glad that 28 years later I get to spot hate for eMachine in the wild. What an absolute piece of shit. I remember buying one and immediately returning it and to this day... you get it.
thejazzman··on Ubiquiti: Enterprise NAS, Built on ZFS
I'd be alarmed that they seemed to know you were going to WWDC. Like, they were tech-aware if they took the drives while you went to tech event... how did they know any of this / scout you?
thejazzman··on Wages in America Are Too Low for the 30% Rule to Work for Renters Anymore

thejazzman··on US holds off blacklisting DeepSeek, more than 100 firms deemed security risks
