theflyingelvis··on Why Is It So Hard for Men to Make Close Friends?
I don’t think that I agree. The two folks that I consider to be my BFF’s recently helped me (and my wife) through a difficult time. Each had a specific set of skills and were able to offer support and help in ways that my family wasn’t.

Cancer and cancer treatment was a bitch. The importance of friends (and family) became evident to me during that time. YMMV I guess.

theflyingelvis··on Illegal Hashes
I had some illegal hash once, but it wasn’t numeric.
theflyingelvis··on Erfurt Latrine Disaster
Crappy way to die that was. Ugh.

HTML can be easier to read though.

theflyingelvis··on Hurricane Ian and EV Fires
Anecdotal but on my drive home I regularly see car-b-ques of ICE cars. Not so many EVs.
theflyingelvis··on How Google Bathrooms Became Classrooms
Gross.

theflyingelvis··on The Road That Killed a City
It looks like Hartford is still there. Development has just moved, refactored if you will. Killed seems a bit overdramatic.

Cities Change and evolve over time. Hartford is no different.

Seems like a risk to me
theflyingelvis··on AITemplate, a revolutionary new inference engine by Meta AI
Unfortunately your comment was too long. I didn’t read it. Try being more succinct next time.

theflyingelvis··on The technology behind Bella Hadid’s spray-on dress
It’s all fun and games until someone messes up and uses fiberglass.
theflyingelvis··on UML: My Part in Its Downfall
I never found UML useful at all. A complete waste of time. YMMV.
theflyingelvis··on Ask HN: Can large sums of money help advance the cure to cancer?
I have a ‘rare’ blood cancer. It almost killed me in 2021. There are treatments but no cures. It will eventually kill me over the five to 10 years.

I’ve had some innovative treatments such as autologous stem cell transplant, been part of a phase one clinical trial so that my data may help others one day and lastly offered blood and tissue samples for study.

These treatments and studies don’t come cheaply. So, yeah more money results in better treatments and research as far as I am concerned.

Oh the horrors!
theflyingelvis··on Can we make flying “Green”?
The energy has to come from somewhere. So… probably not.
theflyingelvis··on For Better or Worse, Tesla Bot Is What We Expected
I wish this con man would give me my ‘fully autonomous driving’ that I paid so much for three years ago rather than make useless ‘robots’. Sigh.
theflyingelvis··on The NuBike Is a Chain-Less Bicycle That Set Out to Reimagine Pedaling
Yes. Depends on the governing body and discipline but yes.
theflyingelvis··on The NuBike Is a Chain-Less Bicycle That Set Out to Reimagine Pedaling
Meh
theflyingelvis··on Citing new evidence, families sue feds, Raytheon, Lockheed over 1996 TWA crash
I stand corrected. Didn’t see these AD’s.

Also it appears that in 2005 there were about 100 AD’s issued in response to flight 800 center tank issues.

Finally, I never stated that there was a coverup.

theflyingelvis··on Citing new evidence, families sue feds, Raytheon, Lockheed over 1996 TWA crash
Right. But, recommendations are not airworthiness directives.
theflyingelvis··on Citing new evidence, families sue feds, Raytheon, Lockheed over 1996 TWA crash
I remember thinking it was odd that there weren’t any airworthiness directives issued for the center fuel tank.
