theflubba··on Why I left Google
"It also meant making a physical move to Venice (the one in CA, not Italy) so that I could fulfill my dreams of a spacious 1br apartment to myself (which I couldn’t shell out $3k for in SF),"

are you fucking kidding me? rich princess complaining about something most people would kill to have - a comfortable life.

theflubba··on Gooo - The anti-magic Go lang web framework
This is a framework that cuts the unnecessary metaprogramming and sugar that has been obscuring architecture and slowing code for years. There are no helpers. I called it a framework for ironic effect, however it is a framework - an extremely minimilist one, a program that fetches data and serves requests, and renders data.

Other Go web frameworks are like houses of cards, while this one is like a computer monitor. The cards can be knocked over, but the computer monitor is 27".

Forthcoming features for Gooo v2: - more speed - faster - documentation - quicker - higher rate of movement

Eventually: integrating a persistent key-value store

>_< thanks for the email. Thankfully just a free heroku postgres account with auto-generated credentials so I deleted it.
theflubba··on Branch
Totally fucking lame. I can't search for discussions. They hide the popular discussions in the sidebar. All hype, zero value. It's pretty and that's all. $2M in funding, I laughed.

However, I created a scala group: http://branch.com/groups/scala/join/a726238227c

theflubba··on Partially Unobfuscated Compiled Elm Lang Example
Posted this to see if anyone can help shed insight on the javascipt implementations of Haskell functions like lift, foldr, foldl that are obvious in the unobfuscated code. The rest of the fuctions, which are heavily recursive and spread their instructions over several functions, are still quite obfuscated. Fully unobfuscating this code is the goal. By understanding this code, really powerful tools regarding real-time communication and real-time graphics can be unlocked as a standalone pure js implementation.

theflubba··on Facebook, I want my friends back
Thank you, now I know there is at least one hacker news user who knows how markets work. Faith in humanity restored. Not really.

theflubba··on Is time a side effect of universal expansion?
This is the stupidest thing I've ever read. He didn't even back up his argument.
theflubba··on L-Theanine: a 4,000 Year Old Mind-Hack
Yep, it's a common misconception. Stimulants will have the same effect on people with and without ADHD.
theflubba··on Ask HN: What new things are you planning to do this year?
True.
theflubba··on Ask HN: What new things are you planning to do this year?
Not going to happen.
theflubba··on Ask HN: If you have ADHD, what are your strategies to deal with it?
You should. After a week or so you won't have trouble sleeping (maybe you're dosing too late in the day?), but I'm always on the lookout for improving without drugs, although I've pretty much come to the conclusion that getting things done is a matter of just sitting down and just doing it, no methods or apps needed. After 5-10 minutes of doing something, you're closer to "flow", which you've probably read about on HN.
theflubba··on Ask HN: If you have ADHD, what are your strategies to deal with it?
Try blocking all distractions. Auto-hide the dock in OSX, get rids of tabs, block reddit, HN, facebook in /etc/hosts, sign out of instant messengers. If you notice any other distractions, write them down as they occur. Drugs do help, so ask yourself if the insomnia is worth it.
theflubba··on Ask HN: Less Bureaucratic productivity software. Activation Energy, it's a thing
I don't have an answer, but I agree with the idea. Tools are not the key to productivity.
