Dont let perfect be the enemy of good.

This HN thread might interest you [1] "A near 100% renewables grid is well within reach, and with little storage"

From one of the comments:

>That's what is different about this new study. It uses real time supply/demand figures instead of annualized averages. It meets 98.8% of demand with renewables and fills in with fossil power the rest of the time.

thecopy··on Swedish court rules against Tesla in dispute with postal service over deliveries
There is a lot of guessing among the comments in these threads.

It is not PostNord's decision. Striking is a constituional right in Sweden and it would be illegal for PostNord to prevent it.

thecopy··on Swedish Tesla strike goes international as Norwegian and Danish unions join in
Well, its wikipedia. Im not sure what you are arguing against. Sympathy strikes are guaranteed by the Swedish constitution.
thecopy··on Swedish Tesla strike goes international as Norwegian and Danish unions join in
You may well think that, and i agree with you, but that is how the regulation is, afaik. The plates have to be distributed by mail and Postnord has to be used for it.
thecopy··on Swedish Tesla strike goes international as Norwegian and Danish unions join in
…according to you:) This is a so called sympathy strike: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solidarity_action

Its a law
thecopy··on Swedish painters trade union to stop all work with Tesla brand cars
This also includes the following sympathy strikes:

* Ports will refuse to load Tesla cars

* Post and package delivery denied

* No office/factory cleaning

* Electricians won’t do work on office/factory/superchargers

thecopy··on Show HN: Ts-Chan – Go-Like Concurrency Primitives for TypeScript/JavaScript
Thanks. I was confused by the terminology. I thought Concurrency = Parallelism, however i realise now that concurrency does not mean that the code is being executed at the same time (not considering waiting for I/O as "executing") while Parallelism means executing at the same time.
thecopy··on Show HN: Ts-Chan – Go-Like Concurrency Primitives for TypeScript/JavaScript
Could someone explain how this adds concurrency to JS without changing the VM/runtime?
thecopy··on U.S. cities consider banning "right on red" laws amid rise in pedestrian deaths
Sounds good to me
thecopy··on Sam Bankman-Fried Convicted
* Train tracks does not take up 70% of cities.

* Trains are not constant, they come more seldom

* Trains are _extremely_ predicable. Cars are the opposite. This is why trams in i busy inner city are more safe than cars. You know exactly where that tram is going and at what speed.

thecopy··on Is Germany once again the sick man of Europe?
But they are not just griping and complaining. They are also working, contributing to the culture, and paying taxes. They are a part of the society, and their perspective should not be ignored, disrespected and ridiculed like it is by so many in this thread.
thecopy··on Ask HN: Any interesting books you have read lately?
Fully agree. Especially regarding the dialoge. Although it is an interesting concept.

thecopy··on Driving is more expensive than you think (2020)
>In order to get coast to coast public transport you'd have to take the whole of the country (the United States) into account and then you'll find that that average population density suddenly matters a lot.

Sure, but coast-to-coast is not what matters. Moving people between where they need/want to go is what matters. I suppose a very large portion of all trips people in NJ makes on an annual basis is not coast-to-coast. It is within New Jersey or adjacent communities.

thecopy··on Driving is more expensive than you think (2020)
Additionally, train noise is predictable. With car/motorbike noise my ears are primed for the low-esteemed person who needs to make a Big Wroom Wroom.
thecopy··on Flux Pinning in sample of LK-99?
According to this video: https://twitter.com/xmal/status/1300754522218913799 it is possible to have stable levitation using a copper plate below the magnet.

OP's video has two stacked metal objects – could the lower one possibly contain copper?

thecopy··on [video] Fully levitating LK-99 sample claimed replicated
Is the fact that the sample returns to the middle of the area after it is pushed indicative of a ferromagnet above a 2x2 magnet array?
thecopy··on Successful room temperature ambient-pressure magnetic levitation of LK-99
This sounds "right" but i have no idea what you mean.

thecopy··on FBI improperly used 702 surveillance powers on US senator
Pensions schemes as invented in the 20th century are essentially ponzi schemes which are fundamentally unfundable. If you are born in the West after 1980 do no expect your government pension to provide any sort of significant income after retirement. Especially considering the demographical changes in the western world - there will not be enough workers paying for the retired population.

I don't really mind that "a tremendous amount of time and effort was invested" into JS.

It works great for me and my team and we are hugely productive using it. That why. It works and we deliver a lot of value.
