I believe it is more nefarious than that. The web strived for mobile native parity but web standards committees are mostly headed by delegates of companies like google and apple; the same companies that have an interest in crippling native web features to push users to their app stores, where they can extract money via fees. PWAs on iOS are a good example of how this kind of gate-keeping looks like
thecloud··on Ask HN: We just had an actual UUID v4 collision...
Thanks for the insight! Mind expanding on what alternatives are being used in high reliability systems instead of UUIDv4?

not exactly color cycling per se, but you might be able to achieve a similar animation effect by overlaying an svg turbulence filter over a mask of the waterfall, like described here[0]

unfortunately the dynamic displacement mapping is not very performant and this technique is hard to pull off on mobile devices

Hey, I'm a german full stack developer with 6 yoe in web-dev looking to work on interesting projects. I'm a generalist, pragmatic but up-to-date with current web technologies, standards, best practices and tool-chains. Previous experience in working with international teams, agile methods and self-organizing teams. Might be open to relocate for the right opportunity. I am not looking for freelance contracts, only full-time roles.

If you buy a guitar pedal from a small-ish boutique company, you might just get a little box with a lot of charm that you can open up and peek at some beautiful hand assembled/soldered circuits :)

Actually, global elite is a few steps below actual pros - above global theres faceit level 10, then open ladders/leagues, then invite only leagues which are at semi-pro level and lastly the pro leagues

EDIT: AFAIK Global Elite starts at about 1600-1700 elo, theres a lot of room above that

You might have to toggle your iPhone’s silent mode switch, as it mutes webaudio.

In 22 years of living in germany, ive never once heard anyone use that atrocity of a word or anything close to it - I guess it's a joke-word from the tv series How I met your mother making fun of the fact that many complex german words are just glued together from other words, eg. Krankenhaus ("ill building" or "building for the ill"). This does not mean that every compound word you theoretically could form is actually a valid german word.
thecloud··on Ask HN: Your favorite everyday shoes?
Adidas NMD´s, the material used for the sole feels amazing and the soft fit is extremely comfortable, only downside in my opinion is the relatively high cost.

thecloud··on Show HN: Tabbie, a tab manager for Google Chrome
switching to sync storage is very easy as all api calls should be identical. just remember that the maximum size for stored objects is lower in sync storage (only 8mb I believe)

actually, you can still inspect the code for the "compiled product" you download from the store- your chrome path contains a directory containing all extensions, finding them is a little bit hard, because they use their keys as foldernames but you can actually still inspect the source
