Especially taking accessibility into consideration.Typography is relating to the design and appearance of the page. It should still go hand-in-hand with creating semantic markup of the actual page.
You had a blog post on your old old old Wordpress blog about setting up an SSH tunnel[1]. Honestly, you're the person who first introduced me to the whole concepts, and who's site I would keep referring back to! Funny to see you posting on here about it.
[1]: Looks like it has been 'mirrored' on blogspot http://myhowtosandprojects.blogspot.com.au/2007/08/tunelling...
Also, the large majority of banks offer Mastercard/Visa debit cards where even though you press 'Credit', its your money from your Savings account. You get the benefit of more consumer protection via Mastercard/Visa, as well as contactless payment and sometimes not having to sign or enter PIN
If Facetime worked for just voice calls, and over 3G, everything would be perfect.
Does anyone know of a similar set of high quality screencasts for teaching iOS? Looked at what's on Mobiletuts plus, but they are from 2010/iOS 4 http://mobile.tutsplus.com/category/tutorials/iphone/?tag=ba... . Are there any out there up to date for iOS 5?
I remember the online multiplayer community was kind of fizzling out about 5 or 6 years ago... wonder how it is now.
I'm don't think anyone is arguing this fact. Android, generally, isn't 'open' in the sense that it is totally controlled by the carriers.
Plenty have materialised. Just not in the US. The three carriers in Aus are pretty much dumb pipes.
This is the single thing that prevents me from using Windows.
I dual boot with Windows on my iMac and I love the general appearance of Windows 7, much more than OS X. I feel like I can just get stuff done.
But then I try to work, and things just fail... A lack of common UI controls (Cocoa, OS X's killer feature) drives me insane when ctrl+a won't work, or a text field won't spell check for me, or I can't right click a word and get the definition of the word.
I find this is my problem with the iPhone as well. I got the iPhone 4 and 4S when they first came out as they are my best option out there, but I hate them so much. Other platforms are doing much more interesting things, such as Windows Phone 7's fresh interface, or the power of Android. However, all of these platforms lack the high level of polish and vibrant ecosystems the iPhone has.
Double clicking it pops up the multitasker.
Windows Phone 7 has less features than Android (and iOS?), but is way more polished and 'pretty'
The funny thing is that's the complete opposite to what Apple retail employees are taught. Sell what the customer needs; nothing more, nothing less
I really like the Galaxy S 2 and I wish so hard that Android was actually polished to the degree that iOS is. My iPhone bores and I love the screen on the Galaxy S, yet I know I will miss out on OS updates and being able to smoothly rotate the screen. The day android is as polished as iOS is is the day I switch.
[1] I'm not sure if it is actually thinner than the iPhone 4, but it feels thinner, much in the same way the 2nd gen iPod touch was thinner than the previous gen)
I am not disappointed with the 4S, but it is apparently clear that a few vocal people are. Why are they disappointed? I can only guess that it would be because it doesn't have a 'next generation' design.
At first I was disappointed because I was after a larger screen (or just more of an 'edge-to-edge' display) for my iPhone and I would happily upgrade to that, but that is the extend to my disappointment. It is evident that the 4S an improvement upon the second generation and will be welcomed by people coming off their 3GS contracts
Sometimes telcos (such as Telstra) will 'pitch in' and pay some of your repayments for you.
Having a 27" screen, I don't mind it. The only things that bug me is the triangle at the top of each post, and your profile pic up in the header (which now floats)
