thatguy0900··on Britain’s output per person is now only just above that of Mississippi
I don't think it's a matter of better or worse quality, the Healthcare being expensive and for profit in Mississippi leads to people just not going to the doctor at all
thatguy0900··on Building from zero after addiction, prison, and a felony
The 20 yr olds of now and the future will have far less luxury being forgotten than the previous generation I suspect
thatguy0900··on DuckDuckGo makes its 'no-AI' search engine easier to access as its traffic booms
Honestly my first thought too. My Frontpage is half obviously Ai written posts these days, filtering by a couple years back would be a good thing
thatguy0900··on AI Startup Says It Will Pay People $2k a Month to Masturbate
They want the regulation to be that Ai models cannot produce such images at all, not that producing them is illegal
thatguy0900··on A web page that shows you everything the browser told it without asking
Man what a awful looking site. I shouldn't have to crank my brightness to max to kind of read the words
thatguy0900··on The fun has been optimized out of the Internet
I don't like being conspiratorial but it genuinely feels like the people at the top know some major catastrophe is coming and are just grabbing whatever resources they can while they can before retreating to their bunkers. Even the white house is trying to build a massive underground bunker using the ballroom on top as a excuse. I don't see why else they would all be willingly destroying society as they are right now unless they don't think it matters.
thatguy0900··on Removable batteries in smartphones will be mandatory in the EU starting in 2027
I'm kinda surprised with esim, wireless charging and Bluetooth noones just made a phone with a solid layer of glass completely surrounding it for 100% waterproofing
thatguy0900··on Ping-pong robot beats top-level human players
To some extent it already has, Ukraine had a press release a few days ago stating they had attacked and taken a position using only robots and drones for the first time

thatguy0900··on Ping-pong robot beats top-level human players
Ping pong paddles have two sides, with different characteristics for each side. Now the two sides have to have different colors so your opponent can see what you are hitting it with, where before you could use the same color on both sides and your opponent wouldn't be able to tell how the ball would react
thatguy0900··on What killed the Florida orange?
You could make the argument that the grapefruit succeeded in its intention already, by being so good that humanity tends and manages whole groves of grapefruit trees
thatguy0900··on Iran claims US exploited networking equipment backdoors during strikes
I think you would find very few people who think belt and road wouldn't be vastly superior to what the us is doing now
thatguy0900··on FBI looks into dead or missing scientists tied to NASA, Blue Origin, SpaceX
Sounds like the exact person we should be concerned about getting hit with scifi weapons to be honest
thatguy0900··on Iran demands Bitcoin fees for ships passing Hormuz during ceasefire
The person launching them sure does. This scenario reminds me of the time Russian hackers took over a US pipeline a couple years ago then immediately apologized saying they didn't want to cause a international incident and they would vet their targets better in the future. There are not many people who want that kind of heat. Like the first ayatollah is dead and the second is reportedly in a coma. The Iranian government is willing to pay that price and that's why they won. How many pirate leaders do you think are willing to pay their life so that their third of fourth successors can maybe collect a toll? Or how many are like Venezuela and you can kidnap one guy and the whole house folds.
thatguy0900··on Iran demands Bitcoin fees for ships passing Hormuz during ceasefire
If they're dropping mines then the navy will be the targets eventually.
thatguy0900··on Iran demands Bitcoin fees for ships passing Hormuz during ceasefire
In time pipelines can be made, no? 2 million per ship already gives a lot of room for exorbitant infrastructure projects to break even in the medium term
thatguy0900··on Iran demands Bitcoin fees for ships passing Hormuz during ceasefire
I'm not sure most people have the strength of conviction in their God to stare down the us navy like Iran does.
thatguy0900··on Fedware: Government apps that spy harder than the apps they ban
Trump saying recently that he hates hanging around successful people and prefers losers because he doesn't want to listen to other people's stories really speaks to the poor self esteem angle
thatguy0900··on Can you get root with only a cigarette lighter? (2024)
Clearing the machine of money it already had sounds way more likely to get you into trouble than getting a free coke, I'm not so sure that's a benifit
thatguy0900··on America tells private firms to “hack back”
Is there practical ways other than spending a couple billion dollars to protect yourself from nation state hacking groups? Especially if you'd doing something like internet connected medical devices? Honest question
thatguy0900··on PC Gamer recommends RSS readers in a 37mb article that just keeps downloading
I know at least on att prepaid they don't meter their own websites, if you have completely used your data up you can still access the website at normal speeds to change plans and stuff
thatguy0900··on Reddit User Uncovers Who Is Behind Meta's $2B Lobbying for Age Verification Tech
I wonder if it's because of election interference. Foreign countries bot farms basically have free reign to assault the minds of your people 24/7 online, idk how you stop that outside of identity verification systems
thatguy0900··on MoD sources warn Palantir role at heart of government is threat to UK security
Even if the software is mundane I don't think most people should want their country offloading sensitive spy stuff to a guy who's obsessed with the antichrist to the extent the Vatican itself is complaining he's going to Rome and giving secret speeches about it.
thatguy0900··on MoD sources warn Palantir role at heart of government is threat to UK security
Because it's funny and they genuinely don't care whether or not they're bad guys
thatguy0900··on Meta’s AI smart glasses and data privacy concerns
This is unironically what happens when society rewards sociopaths
thatguy0900··on Operational issue – Multiple services (UAE)
I'm sure bezos will be really happy someone is being a hero for him in a war zone while he sails his newest yacht to wherever the new version of the island is.
thatguy0900··on I baked a pie every day for a year
If we don't care what the filling is you could just use sticky rice.
thatguy0900··on Never buy a .online domain
You forgot the part where he reset their email he didn't own and change their passwords so they couldn't get back into it
thatguy0900··on Americans are destroying Flock surveillance cameras
Peer pressure is apparently not even effective in getting billionaires who could easily hire whatever variety of escort they want from having sex with trafficked children, so I'm not sure in what world it's supposed to stop the billionaires from installing cameras.
thatguy0900··on How did Joann Fabrics die while Best Buy survived? It wasn't Amazon
Except that the vulture capitalists definition of walking dead also includes companies that are profitable and healthy but not perpetually expanding and multiplying revenue every year. God forbid a company grow, reach some sort of local cap on size, then just comfortably exist to deliver a good service without trying to extract everything it possibly can from every customer. That's not walking dead and if all of the companies in the US were satisfied doing that this would be a much better country to live in.
thatguy0900··on Show HN: Price Per Ball – Site that sorts golf balls on Amazon by price per ball
That's not all tariffs. The Ai boom is at the point where some memory manufacturers are selling their whole production capacity a year in advance.
