th3iedkid··on Coding error at Santander Bank put millions into random accounts on Christmas
All of the payment system processes are structured around banks rather than individuals . What if a similar transaction error was committed by an individual or a business managed by an individual, the amount of hardship and pain they have to go through , before all those transactions could ever be reversed.
th3iedkid··on Apple said to be preparing for iPhones without SIM card slot in 2022
eSIMs are good but it doesn't eliminate the bureaucracy/paper work involved with acquiring an actual network connection, esp for those traveling across countries. Unless ofcourse you are willing to pay those listed roaming charges(some of which appear as hidden charges). Not sure what eSims or even Apple as a company can do about that?

Reconciliation, Retries and other aspects are baked into that standardised payment system. There are countries that have completely abondoned cheques since early 2000s.

Pakistani sat phones , VoIP channels etc were always used for attacks in India[1] . So this too probably adds to that.

This sense about a measure of authoritarianism or failure of democracy, feels like a moral high ground, to pick and pry on India , in almost every Indian journal. Yet they write article upon article, in India , of suppression of freedom , which seem not related at all!Why is that? Are these colonial standards essential for all of common-wealth ?

Even if it isn’t the latter , there will always be such open cards. It would remain utopian to claim anything in any democracy is purely fact based and nothing can change with political will. You can probably get it in more authoritative regimes however.

>But if you call it "pattern matching," and it has less power than a regular expression, it feels misleading or like false advertising. But, as just a feature, I think it's great.

If cloud-provider X is providing a managed-service A , which is otherwise available as an open-source project Y. Does X need an agreement from Y to run the managed service ? If X does a bad job of providing value from Y, isn't X showcasing Y in a bad-light as well?
th3iedkid··on Why I’m Losing Hope in India
> And even then, violence in Indonesia is nowhere near that in India in recent years.

Crime stats indicate a very different picture of Indonesia, even with a disproportionate population ratio of India[0]

>I don't see anything, apart from it being draft legislation. AFAIK, Aceh is the only place (shithole tbh) which actively promulgates Sharia Law.

AFAIK there are legal provisions for a parallel legal system to adjudicate, override dutch-roman legal system across all regions of Indonesia. [1][2]
