testemailfordg2··on 500k facial scans at UK stations yield no arrests, 1 false positive
I guess that tells you how expensive travelling by trains is then, if in 6 months only 500k unique faces were captured or identified. That is roughly 3k per day or 120-150 every hour or 2-3 every minute across multiple stations. Unfortunately, this exercise would be labelled as too expensive to be scaled, the irony. Surely, the preference for the department is buying rather than building their own cost effective solutions inhouse which would be scalable rather than limited. Look at France and Netherlands, their government departments are already working on reducing reliance on microsoft products. This has to come from the very top, rather than being consumers these departments with their budgets should become tech producers.
testemailfordg2··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
How will the capitalists survive then, they would go extinct as a species. Healthcare and defense are the two prominent sectors where the options available are kept artificially scarce / high in demand (wars), thereby reaping money unfairly from both taxpayers and individuals.
testemailfordg2··on Beef and dairy drive 41% of biodiversity damage linked to global farmland
Unfortunately, the priority is increasing efficiency and ROI, rather than sustainability. This leads to centralization and operations at a scale which are not sustainable, without external input or causing damage to existing nature. De-centralization and sustainable practices are the only way forward, as it has been for centuries before us on this earth. Maybe space is the place for these kinds of centralised and intensive practices, like being planned for data centers.

testemailfordg2··on The UK government's Low Value Purchase System is a waste of time
If you are on a framework, that gives prospective public sector buyers assurance that certain basic checks/ due-dilligence about your business has already been done. So even if you have not made a sale to a public sector entity in recent times but are on a framework then makes sense to keep your details up-to-date...
testemailfordg2··on Singapore introduces caning for boys who bully others at school
Not the right approach as classifying someone as a bully is left to someone's subjective perception. This makes caning legal in the hope it would reform those boys and leaves room for misuse. Once bullying is proven in front of PTA group then other formal methods should be used, starting with counselling-> monitoring for improvement -> separating them from their peers and moving them up seniors, that might turn the tables -> community service with final recourse being termination from school and in worst case / rarest or rare scenarios the country would already have a juvenille justice system to reform.
testemailfordg2··on Today I've made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%
This problem has been talked about and answered as back as 500BCE. It's like the parable of the blind men and an elephant. Each blind man feels a different part of the animal's body, but only one part, such as the side or the tusk. They then describe the animal based on their limited experience and their descriptions of the elephant are different from each other. In some versions, they come to suspect that the other person is dishonest and they come to blows. The moral of the parable is that humans have a tendency to claim absolute truth based on their limited, subjective experience as they ignore other people's limited, subjective experiences which may be equally true. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_men_and_an_elephant
testemailfordg2··on Microsoft Edge stores all passwords in memory in clear text, even when unused
That's interesting, then that UAC prompt asking to enter login credentials to view existing saved password is useless.
testemailfordg2··on GitHub Is Down
Probably the solution is not using the centralized Github for all work related to agentic coding but rather a distributed/local github repository from get go. This way only what hits the centralized github and becomes public, is something vetted and signed off by the human in the loop, hopefully reducing the AI slop and increasing the quality of commits.
testemailfordg2··on Let's Buy Spirit Air
A similar large scale success in India decades ago:- AMUL is an Indian multinational dairy cooperative, founded on 19 December 1946. With a turnover of US$6.2 billion (2022) and 3.6 million farmer-members, it is the world's largest dairy cooperative and a household name for milk and milk products across India.

The cooperative was born out of exploitation: farmers in Kheda, Gujarat, were forced to supply milk to Polson Dairy, which held a monopoly and paid farmers unfairly through commission-taking agents.

AMUL returns 85% of every rupee earned back to farmers — far above the global average of 33% — and procures milk at rates 15–20% higher than private dairies.

AMUL's democratic governance ensures farmers elect board members who represent their interests, and the Managing Director of each unit is appointed by this farmer-led board — not the state government — preventing political interference and corruption.

AMUL demonstrates how a business can achieve large-scale commercial success while prioritising social justice and environmental care — through collective ownership, democratic governance, equitable profit-sharing, and community investment — offering a powerful model for cooperatives worldwide.

testemailfordg2··on I am happier writing code by hand
Feel hand/human written code of an experienced individual should be more valuable for a business than one created by agents. Surely, agents and humans might be using the same underlying frameworks or programming languages, but the value difference depends on the breadth and depth of experience. Agents gives you the breadth but an experienced individuals give you the depth in understanding/problem solving.

testemailfordg2··on Cloudflare outage should not have happened
https://blog.cloudflare.com/18-november-2025-outage/

"Customers deployed on the new FL2 proxy engine, observed HTTP 5xx errors. Customers on our old proxy engine, known as FL, did not see errors, but bot scores were not generated correctly, resulting in all traffic receiving a bot score of zero."

This simply means, the exception handling quality of your new FL2 is non-existent and is not at par / code logic wise similar to FL.

I hope it was not because of AI driven efficiency gains.

testemailfordg2··on National Blockchain Framework
India’s current governance systems often rely on centralized databases, which can be prone to errors, fraud, and lack of transparency. Blockchain technology addresses these challenges through its tamper-resistant, distributed ledger system, where records are securely maintained across multiple nodes. This design makes unauthorized modifications virtually impossible and significantly enhances data integrity and trust.
testemailfordg2··on AWS multiple services outage in us-east-1
Seems like we need more anti-trust cases on AWS or need to break it down, it is becoming too big. Services used in rest of the world get impacted by issues in one region.
testemailfordg2··on Death rates rose in hospital ERs after private equity firms took over
Privatize the profits and socialize the losses, is this too difficult to understand of being the core motto of a private equity firm. A PE firm will not have patients at the top of their priority, unless legislation enforces and regulates that.
testemailfordg2··on Preliminary report into Air India crash released
Three things:- 1) Pilot clearly said I didn't do it. 2) Report talks about the second switch being turned off in a second. 3) Known advisory on switches getting flipped.

If you see these three together, it becomes easy to deduce that based on point 2, switch was not human induced as the actions required take more than a second. Next the third point, advisory was for this exact scenario which played out, though rare but still it shouldn't have been just an advisory, but more than that.
