Pretty cool guys. It would be nice to know the differences to other local first like solutions out there.
terpimost··on FTC sues Adobe for hiding fees and inhibiting cancellations
As a happy paying customer of Photopea (photoshop in a browser by not Adobe) I’m glad Figma isn’t under Adobe but there is a revenue/investors pressure and Figma is becoming more and more affected by it.

I would be fine paying for Adobe if their software would be the beat example of UX and performance. But sluggish brush stroke on M1 is just not acceptable.

Your nickname is so cool, I love it. So what is wrong with a company talking about its tech product in their blog post? In this case it's a particular person from the company... If it's not interesting, it wouldn't be upvoted.

antithesis.com | Vienna, VA, USA | Onsite | Full-Time

Multiple jobs available at https://antithesis.com/company/careers/ (Software, Consulting, ML), but this is a hot one:

Frontend Engineer (Product/UX)

We are building a reactive notebook (similar to Jupyter/Observable) that serves as an interface to our software testing product. If you are interested in working full-time on-site in Vienna, VA, USA, for ~$130-200k per year, please send me an email to vlad.korobov@antithesis.com. I would love to see things you've created in the past.

You are guaranteed an introductory call with the hiring manager (https://vladkorobov.com/) if you are: a) authorized to work in the USA, b) have more than 4 years of front-end dev experience. c) meet at least 2 of the following criteria:

    - Have a website showcasing projects you’ve worked on.
    - Have built a complex UI component from scratch and are comfortable working on custom Table(), Inspector(), and Plot().
    - Have developed custom providers for Monaco Editor and interested to do more of those.
    - Have made major contributions to any design system and are interested in creating a better one without Tailwind.
    - Possess deep knowledge of modern JS frameworks/libraries (React/Preact/Vue/Solid/Svelte/...) and are not afraid to work without them if needed.
    - Have created custom code editor or some other complex UI tool (node based programming / UI editor).
    - Have developed a data visualization library (or wrapped some low level tools behind thoughtful API).
    - Have built something browser-based using WebGL, shaders, WASM, or worker threads.
    - Have created and published plugin for esbuild or Eleventy.
This post would be too long if I included the list of things you might work on, so please reach out to me to get that information.

Antithesis is a completely new approach to testing and debugging. Our platform continuously searches your software for problems, within a simulated environment where every problem can be perfectly reproduced, enabling efficient debugging of the most complex issues.

terpimost··on Downgraded my website to GitHub pages; couldn't be happier
Git hub pages is a pretty nice service. Compare this to https://replit.com/ which pushes their deployment and you realize that for static website which can do a lot of things these days VS Code with great GitHub integration is just easier and better.

And it is easier/cheaper than Vercel too :)

Once you want some serverside/db things there are number of paths... Supabase, edge functions, DigitalOcean, AWS, Zapier hooks

terpimost··on UI redesigns are mostly a waste of time (2019)
> This is not a redesign, but good design

The author asks about smooth redesign and gradual deployment. I guess like google docs do.

terpimost··on Show HN: Frontend Fuzzy Search
Thank you. We need more libs like that. I just researched the field yesterday and https://github.com/leeoniya/uFuzzy looked pretty good. But there is a gap in the market of such libs. Just few allow to send the whole html document, serialize and deserialize index to be used in browser, highlighting the matches is desired feature.

Most importantly very few fuzzy search libs can get a simple substring match as a priority, which is understandable but not helpful. Imagine searching for “xample” and not having “example” among the results.

terpimost··on Florida House of Representatives approves bill to ban social media for kids < 16
It is pretty hard to give access to youtube to your kid with an account where age is stated. Yes kids can open browser in private mode… but they rarely do because it is a friction. If every social media would be moved to adult category the current rules in operating systems would do a good job. I am not sure about 16 years ( i would support it as a father )… but up to 13-14 feels appropriate, there is PG-13
terpimost··on VanJS – A no-JSX framework based on vanilla JavaScript
People feel unsolved problem for them and want a better solution for them individually. As you said “anyone can” so “anyone will”. Just ignore posts like this ;). After 20 years of experience just pay attention to v1 of anything :)
terpimost··on Lua programming language needs a web hosting
I don’t use mailing lists. Could touch tell me what is advantage of mailing list vs something modern like Zulip chat… in which you can turn off notifications and just use as a website… they even have web public streams viewing if which doesn’t require any auth
