tempodox··on Welcome (back) to Macintosh
Just now I have received mail that the Linux laptop I ordered has been assembled and handed over to shipping. After over 30 years on the Mac Apple has managed to make me look forward to switching to Linux. I never would have thought this day would come, but all things come to an end eventually.
tempodox··on U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for "Armageddon,"
“Armageddon” sounds plausible in the sense that if this war ends too soon, the goons in charge will find ways to start another one within days. The war(s) will not end until von Clownstick is out of office, one way or the other.
tempodox··on Techno‑feudal elite are attempting to build a twenty‑first‑century fascist state
Right, you’ll be out of work and without income, but free of Agile.
tempodox··on Techno‑feudal elite are attempting to build a twenty‑first‑century fascist state
In 10 years we won’t have the devices nor the software to run such a network. We will have state-approved devices running state-approved software. There will be no escape from brainwashing and total surveillance. The time to stop this is now.
tempodox··on Techno‑feudal elite are attempting to build a twenty‑first‑century fascist state
That fascist state is already here, with Sam Altman helping them with domestic surveillance and autonomous killer robots. How long until they get deployed to U.S. streets?
tempodox··on I built a demo of what AI chat will look like when it's “free” and ad-supported
Next step will be that OpenAI hires you because you share their vision for the future. See that you file the patents first.
tempodox··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
> there has been permanent war for >1500 years.

You mean, like Europe being constantly at war for thousands of years?

tempodox··on The Windows 95 user interface: A case study in usability engineering (1996)
Seeing “Windows” and “usability” in the same sentence is a surprising combination to me.

> Perhaps the best testament to our belief in iterative design is that literally no detail of the initial UI design for Windows 95 survived unchanged in the final product.

I shudder to imagine the look and feel of that initial UI design.

tempodox··on The whole thing was a scam
He’s prime dirtbag material. He and this administration deserve each other.
tempodox··on Block the “Upgrade to Tahoe” alerts
I just wanted to thank you for this work. I wouldn’t have known where to start. Reading about all the hoops to jump through I can’t help but think that macOS is getting ever closer to being malware, just like Windows. An OS you have to fight to stay productive. I’ve been a Mac user since 1995, but the way this has been going over so many years now, I can’t imagine my next computer to be yet another Mac any more. I have been forced to view Linux as the last refuge. It was nice while it lasted, but eventually Stallman was right the whole time.
tempodox··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
You don’t unseat the Fraudster in Chief while at war. So starting a war is a slightly less conspicuous trick than outright preventing relevant elections from taking place.
tempodox··on OpenAI raises $110B on $730B pre-money valuation
> By then, they will "announce" "AGI"

It’s already a joke to call the slop generators “AI”, so giving it another fake name won’t really make much of a difference any more. Nothing short of a miracle will be able to top the “creative marketing” we already have.

tempodox··on OpenAI raises $110B on $730B pre-money valuation
1,000 metric tons of hot air is a lot of volume.
tempodox··on What does " 2>&1 " mean?
That’s nothing, try `&>`.
tempodox··on Jane Street Hit with Terra $40B Insider Trading Suit
What a horribly unreadable article.
tempodox··on Larry Page has moved to Florida
I feel for the tax fugitives who are too poor to afford living in California any longer.
tempodox··on OpenAI resets spending expectations, from $1.4T to $600B
I don’t believe one word of what they say publicly.
tempodox··on Looks like it is happening
Convenience dictates that we will be drowning in slop as long as convenience lets us rank academics by number of publications. Publish or perish?
tempodox··on You are not supposed to install OpenClaw on your personal computer
Obviouly the assumption of sanity was premature.
tempodox··on Discord cuts ties with identity verification software, Persona
What the hell does Discord need identity verification for in the first place?
tempodox··on FreeBSD doesn't have Wi-Fi driver for my old MacBook, so AI built one for me
But then the sellers wouldn’t find the useful idiots to sell their snake oil to.
tempodox··on IRS Tactics Against Meta Open a New Front in the Corporate Tax Fight
Are you suggesting that an accurate description would not be derogatory?
tempodox··on IRS Tactics Against Meta Open a New Front in the Corporate Tax Fight
> that level of wealth doesn't need to exist in our society.

But then the inquisition arrives saying this is socialism or whatever.

tempodox··on Sam Altman Is Losing His Grip on Humanity
When you’re a psychopath, the choice is clear.
tempodox··on AI Added 'Basically Zero' to US Economic Growth Last Year, Goldman Sachs Says
The amount of damage that was done in just a year says otherwise.
tempodox··on AI Added 'Basically Zero' to US Economic Growth Last Year, Goldman Sachs Says
The duration of this bubble so far goes to show how incredibly rich the investors are, burning trillions of dollars over the years in a wild speculation that they will be able to get everyone else out of work and then having the power to decide who will be allowed to live and who will have to die in the fight over the last breadcrumbs. In the end they will be the ones who can afford to buy private armies to protect themselves from the hungry masses.
tempodox··on Pope tells priests to use their brains, not AI, to write homilies
The “AI” believers will be soo disappointed. Does the holy spirit not inhabit the GPU that computes their slop? Then again, why believe in any god from a classical religion when you can believe in “AI” instead?
tempodox··on Pope tells priests to use their brains, not AI, to write homilies
You forgot the “/s”.
tempodox··on EU mandates replaceable batteries by 2027 (2023)
I’m curious how Apple will malicious-compliance its way out of this one. It will have to be no more iDevices for the EU, I guess.
tempodox··on Every company building your AI assistant is now an ad company
In addition to being vaporware, it’s presumably vibecoded slop, so: vaporslop.
