tempodox··on Folk are getting dangerously attached to AI that always tells them they're right
Of course this is intentional. The providers want to make their stuff as addictive as possible, like so much other digital crack sold on the internet.
tempodox··on Fear and denial in Silicon Valley over social media addiction trial
Why would they fear anything? They’ve been getting away with criminal behavior for so many years now, I don’t even remember when it started. If they get fined now and then, it’s less than 1 percent of their quarterly profits, so that’s not even small change. This won’t influence their behavior in the slightest.
tempodox··on Regular army and reserve components enlistment program: Summary of change
The word “unpopular” doesn’t exist in Trump’s vocabulary. The logic is that you don’t vote the Fraudster in Chief out of office during a war. And he desperately wants to stay in office. Ideally without being seen actively sabotaging elections.
tempodox··on Regular army and reserve components enlistment program: Summary of change
If the war keeps Trump in office, it has fulfilled its purpose and will be counted a win.

This is why I suspect that Israel might at least have encouragement from the U.S., direct or indirect.

tempodox··on They’re vibe-coding spam now
Vibe coding and spam are a perfect fit. What took them so long?

I’d even say all vibe-coded slop is spam as soon as anybody else than the original perpetrator has to read it.

tempodox··on They’re vibe-coding spam now
> No wonder spammers are copying that.

Are you sure it’s not the other way around?

tempodox··on The future of version control
I still find this shit unreadable, even after years of practice.
tempodox··on Atlassian says it had right to fire engineer for suggesting CEO is 'rich jerk'
> Atlassian has denied wrongdoing.

But if they say so themselves!

tempodox··on Why craft-lovers are losing their craft
This is why “worse is better” always wins eventually.
tempodox··on A Japanese glossary of chopsticks faux pas
Highly instructive, and some quite surprising to me as a gaijin.

> To take the tips of the chopsticks in one’s mouth.

Sometimes I'm having a hard time avoiding that. Apparently I need more practice.

tempodox··on Our commitment to Windows quality
Microsoft has always known better than their users, they practically invented this attitude. Others then copied it.
tempodox··on Our commitment to Windows quality
How do they expect anyone to believe they can improve when they show a complete lack of understanding what they are doing wrong. The only message I get is that they think their audience consists of comlete morons. So nothing has changed at all.
tempodox··on Aliens.gov ~ domain registered 17MAR2026
Exprience shows that braindead ideas are great moneymakers.
tempodox··on Meta and TikTok let harmful content rise to drove engagement, say whistleblowers
Sadly, nothing new. Why do they do it? Because they can. That regulators let companies operate this way is a massive failure.
tempodox··on Montana passes Right to Compute act (2025)
Deregulation is just regulatory capture by industry and also a national security risk.
tempodox··on White House plan to break up iconic U.S. climate lab moves forward
The war on facts continues.
tempodox··on Asian governments roll out 4-day weeks, WFH to solve fuel crisis caused by war
Make that the past 100 years.
tempodox··on I'm glad the Anthropic fight is happening now
Agreed. There is way too much money in flight to believe that anything people say in public is true. If there was ever a time to get rich as a spin doctor it’s now.
tempodox··on Google to provide Pentagon with AI agents
Just ask the slop generator of your choice. Making sense of all that smoke and mirrors without AI support has become impossible.
tempodox··on Agents that run while I sleep
The cowboy gunslinging knows no bounds.
tempodox··on U+237C ⍼ Is Azimuth
The Fonts in Use page from Berthold is fascinating.

tempodox··on Claude struggles to cope with ChatGPT exodus
To be more precise, they all stole the same stuff. I have no empathy for these crooks.
tempodox··on Most-read tech publications have lost over half their Google traffic since 2024
Except when they just hallucinate an answer that is plainly wrong.
tempodox··on Most-read tech publications have lost over half their Google traffic since 2024
Classic tragedy of the commons, this time with major impact on everyone everywhere.
tempodox··on Welcome (back) to Macintosh
> I just don't know why they seem to be going out of their way to make the system unfriendly to existing users.

Sadly, they’re not going out of their way. It’s fully in the way of beancounters in harvesting mode. Apple has become a lawnmower, just like any other megacorp.

tempodox··on Welcome (back) to Macintosh
Cory Doctorow’s “The coming war on general-purpose computing” said it all. In 2012.

tempodox··on Welcome (back) to Macintosh
I’m not waiting any longer. I have exactly zero hope that Apple will fix anything. I even doubt they’re still capable of it, even if they could be bothered to be interested in it.
tempodox··on Welcome (back) to Macintosh
Rumors persist that you can in fact put a Linux on a macbook. Just in case you have one lying around (which I don’t).
tempodox··on Welcome (back) to Macintosh
This time for real. Multi-decade users of both Windoze and macOS won’t take any more shit and take action, instead of just complaining. That’s a quality I haven’t seen before.
tempodox··on Welcome (back) to Macintosh
I would so love to contradict you, but I can’t. I have to completely agree.
