techwizard81··on Ubuntu Desktop 24.04 LTS: Noble Numbat
Lenovo is a good brand for Linux, i've never had any issues running various distros on my thinkpads over the years.
techwizard81··on Broadcom to Cut Almost 1,300 VMware Jobs in California After Takeover
First time I hear somebody saying that Windows servers being used more in the enterprise is a made up statement LOL

Google search trend isn't directly linked to marketshare

techwizard81··on Broadcom to Cut Almost 1,300 VMware Jobs in California After Takeover
You must work in a very niche market, in my last 25 years, 100% of the company I worked for were primarly based on windows servers. Yes there are linux servers and the number is increasing, but still represents a very small percentage compared to windows server.
techwizard81··on Cannabis use disorder and subsequent risk of depression and bipolar disorder
Marijuana can be highly addictive, it depends on the person. I’ve been addicted for over 20 years, completely unable to stop for more then a week and I know a lot of people in the same situation. Not saying it should be illegal because of this, just saying that because it’s not addictive to you doesn’t mean it can’t be for other people. That is why it’s important not to advertise marijuana as a risk free substance.
techwizard81··on Microsoft has laid off entire teams behind Virtual, Mixed Reality, and HoloLens
Can you elaborate on how VR would enhance meetings? I really don’t see the point myself. I don’t want to meet some avatar in a virtual room and I don’t know anybody who would.
techwizard81··on Americans duped into losing $10B by illegal Indian call centres in 2022: report
if you are expecting a delivery, it might be common sense to not wear noise cancelling headphones!
techwizard81··on Does Company ‘X’ have an Azure Active Directory Tenant?
That's because the goal of AzureAD isn't to replicate on-premise AD
techwizard81··on Airlines deny boarding to passengers from wild Sunwing party flight to Mexico
Agreed and clearly the provider wasn’t okay with it
techwizard81··on Airlines deny boarding to passengers from wild Sunwing party flight to Mexico
You are not allowed to bring your own liquor on the plane, plus, they we're drinking a ridiculous amount of alcohol and getting shit face. You aren't allowed to vape neither, like you aren't allowed to dance and have sex. I don't get why people don't see how their behaviors was completely unacceptable. The authorities also think it was unacceptable since they we're all picked up when they landed back.
techwizard81··on Airlines deny boarding to passengers from wild Sunwing party flight to Mexico
I think you should read more on what happened in the plane going there, they are getting what they deserve. There is a reason the police were waiting for them at the airport when they got back to Montreal!
techwizard81··on Airlines deny boarding to passengers from wild Sunwing party flight to Mexico
They have been definitely denied initially for their behavior on the flight to Cancun. They we're acting senselessly, no mask, heavy drinking, vaping , not respecting any rules. The staff on the plane had to resort to staying in the back of the place because they we're afraid of their behaviors. Police we're waiting for them when they got back to Montreal.
techwizard81··on Is going to the office a broken way of working?
Fair enough, I guess it’s just different for everybody. I personally prefer to get my job done as quickly as possible (which is easier without all those interactions) so that I can have the time to go spent it with the people of my choosing and not people that just happens to be next to me.
techwizard81··on Is going to the office a broken way of working?
The point of the person you are replying to is why do you need this social interaction with people you barely know (because be honest, you don’t really know these people) versus social interaction with your friends?
techwizard81··on Credit-card firms are becoming reluctant regulators of the web
In the case of adult content, they aren’t doing this because they are morally against it, it’s because there is a lot of porn from human trafficking, underage or simply non consensual (like stolen personal videos or revenge porn). It should not be allowed to profit from these things, so I think it’s right that the bank imposes rules on those sites for them to be able to process credit card transactions.
techwizard81··on Leaving the Apple ecosystem behind
Everybody has different interests and needs, but personally, I hope they never implement your suggestions for the App Store. I , like I’m sure a vast majority of the Apple user base , just want an App Store, not something filled with social features.
techwizard81··on A Look into CBL-Mariner, Microsoft’s Internal Linux Distribution
It could and it did, but honestly, I personally have never seen any Win10 endpoint with any registry issues since it came out.
techwizard81··on Meals based on vegetable protein sources (beans and peas) are more satiating (2016)
Because the recommended amount of grams of protein you need per day for body building is usually around 1g of protein for every 1 pound of bodyweight
techwizard81··on ReactOS
agreed that most software can be made to run, but not all of them. The other issue is drivers, old drivers won't work on Windows 10 but will on reactOS
techwizard81··on Krita 4.4.0
agreed that it's annoying, but not the end of the world neither, I don't install software multiple times a day every day
techwizard81··on ReactOS
it's not just a matter of software, but also being compatible with drivers. Some old equipment that requires a specific window xp software but also a driver that doesn't work on current versions of windows.
techwizard81··on Krita 4.4.0
yes, same as all the other one, you can cancel out of login in and it still installs. I never logged into the microsoft store
techwizard81··on Krita 4.4.0
>Yes, but ONLY because they require you to create a >Microsoft account. If you could use it without the >account, then it would be fine.

You don't need an account to use the Microsoft Store, they nag you about login in, but you can click cancel and the app will still install.
