having energy is basis of all effort driven success. if this can be optimized by creating a set of steps which have legit effect, then it'd be significant contribution to startup community. I'd rather have lesson on this instead of legal issues, or how to hire, or how to manager, or how talk to VCs. My biggest problems have been finding a good idea, having energy and focus, and finding cofounder that aren't broke but skilled and interested in idea.
no point in hiring for passion if the job itself is gonna be hardly related to what's someone is passionate about, it's going to be taking tickets defined months in advance from PM who is no longer there and composing existing pre-made components into a sad little pr
I feel users don't have to be nefarious to have negative effect on the network. Example, you and your 4 friends in middle school are hanging out and having fun. One of your friends mom shows up and sit next to you guys. Suddenly you can't talk about 80% of the stuff you'd in absence of her, even though the mom isn't spamming or trolling. But yes as network grows it attracts marketers and spammers. But also kind of audiences matter too. A large network of only consisting hardware enthusiast is really useful. But a large network of general population would affect what posts make it to front page, how they get reported, and how slowly they get answered as they will drown against cat photos, political rage, and personal success stories. Even people with all specialized skills and relevant interest won't get to see those niche posts.
On reddit there is concept of subreddits. But regardless you are more likely to be distracted with other subreddits then interact with niche you are an expert in. why more coding questions are asked on stackoverflow than r/webdev
It's true aging is real, but lot of people who are comparing themselves to interns forget that interns are starting from zero. It's harder to forget than it's to learn something new. My mom learned to record a video through an app, newer android version has even better screen recording software built-in but she couldn't get used to it and now is back onto the previous app. I tried working in a different language/framework, it killed me everyday having to do things differently. However, I taught myself Adobe After Effects, in 3 weeks I was doing very shopisticated animations that I didn't even know could be done by one human. If I had known some other animation program than my prev knowledge would have been working against me and frustration of relearning things.
I mean it happens organically that math works out that way. But there is an opportunity for govt to create geographically closer pipelines of trade in order to better the reliability of supply chain and environmental effect. For example, there is no reason for stuff to go from mexico to thailand just to be assembled. Only reason could be is that there is existing talent that is available to do it, but brazil lacks those skills. But if govt worked with brazil govt to train for those skills and kick-started industry, then the cost might be even more cheaper due to saving on the half the world trip.
to be fair most of trade today is overly interconnected for no good reason, i have seen scenarios mentioned where part is made in brazil, shipped to singapore, then assembled in thailand then shipped to usa. but it somehow comes cheaper than assembling in brazil and shipping to usa because of existing volume or something. but that's very shortsighted. Sure free market is efficient. But what it's not is forward looking. Govt can step in kick start reactions which leads to enough volume from brazil to usa to make that economical as well. but it'd have advantage of less fragile supply chain and more env friendly process....
I have lost my phone 3 times and countless times I needed to login and my phone battery had just died. Also I don't want to safeguard my phone like my life depends on it. Imagine cops get your phone and boom 99% access to everything you have got online.
There are two times I noticed I wasn't as good as before mentally. One when I was 17, I noticed that unlike when I was 12 I no longer could memeroize entire books. Which back then I could, I had memorized 12x20 Questions and their answers back to back. But now in HS I felt I'd forget 90% of what I read yesterday. Now to learn I had to write the thing down and act of writing helped me remember things. Second time I noticed is when I was 24 and still in college and when to study in a group. After 10 or so minutes, I had hit my limit with info from one page and just started to skim, but other students who were like 19, kept on writing things down in paper and weren't getting exhausted. I noticed lack of stamina... Now it takes me 3 months to read one book that I'm very interested in. Back then I'd finish a book in 3 days and write 8 page essay on it. So yea things change.
most of US cities have no public transportation, weird parking zonning rules that making it impossible to have small commercial scene and lack of parks.. just handful of cities are actual cities, not just offices for suburbs.
I am saying both have their places, some apps would be a way over kill to implement event based system instead of simple crud. I found it out first hand in redux. When I had to first define an event, define a listener, define event trigger function... 3x boilerplate already, then find special tooling to keep track and debug of N^n events firing, then literally read every event listener code to figure total sequence of events occurring if user clicks something vs sequential code in the same file. I found redux wasn't worth it. Pub/sub systems have a place but it's not where MVC model fits.
also not just a matter of understanding concepts, it's a matter of familiarity with tools, sure a developer, and most other humans, could open documentation and read and figure out how to do something in 5 hours that would have taken a person skilled in devops maybe 3 minutes. Linux alone is a rabbit hole, add cloud, kubernettes, docker, basic database management, cron jobs, permission setting, certification renewal, etc.. the amount of commands and their variations gets quite large.
difference between cola and eink might be that one was able to find market from get go and built business to industrialized scale, whereas, eink struggles to find a market at this price but won't also be generous with patent to make ROI work for other 3rd parties to make big investments.
you don't think coins that are not used by anyone are increasing 1000x every year in value is justified? or that a reference to jpeg of a monkey hosted on centralized servers is not worth 10 million USD? Good Lord, such a boomer mindset!
