Time to fork it

Have you checked out F-Droid lately, and how does this compare to Apple or Microsoft?

Google never said their phone support is for login issues and makes it clear you need to login for support, and the op (who is using a throway) said they didn't remember using a mobile number when signing up so it sounds like the problem is partly on them. If you've been a customer for almost a year and suddenly realized you don't have a number you can call for support, then there is no reason to be outraged since they never promised that in the first place before you signed up and you were too careless to look. They do have a help page regarding login issues:

https://support.google.com/a/answer/6335621

They don't remember, which is probably how they got themselves into this mess, which everyone else uses as an opportunity to share their Google hate and call for regulation.

I have a G Suite account and GCP account that I barely spend, and I've always had an excellent experience with their support as long as they could solve the problem. The only time I grew frustrated had to do with Google Music and their support didn't have any answers or solutions at that time.

Android is one of Google's core products, as well as web (including Chromium).

Because those companies are ignored while everyone jumps aboard the Google hate train, and if anything is going to be done to fix it then those changes need to be applied equally to all companies at the same time. Otherwise it does more harm than good.

Yes if you compare the code base size and the core components. Microsoft still hasn't open sourced it's main consumer operating system and neither has Apple.

> So, whenever Google is mentioned in more tech-savvy communities like those that support Linux and FOSS, its name usually makes people shudder. Even so, it is impossible to deny the work that Google has done on making open-source software a standard today. With massive open source projects like Kubernetes, TensorFlow, Go, and Flutter, many other once-FOSS-allergic companies have realized the importance of the open-source model and have followed in Google’s footsteps, including other tech powerhouses like Facebook, Amazon, and even Microsoft.

Forgot Android and Chromium. Also, people shudder at Canonical too these days.

Also, I don't think kernel contributions using GitHub or GitLab would be a good thing. See SourceHut if you want things done properly:

Also, his site here:

Android, Chromium and Kubernetes have come a long way. Plus there are a lot of other major open source projects that come out of Google. Way more than Microsoft, Apple and Amazon.

The same could be said for Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, etc. At least Google open sources their operating system, browser and are mostly responsible for Kubernetes. If people are going to have such high expectations of one company why do they not equally apply the judgement.

They should start by open sourcing the operating system.

Trump is saying he is likely going to issue an executive order to extend unemployment due to national security.

You don't think he would do the same for TikTok, especially when all these underage and often preteen kids data is being sent to China?

There is this thing called the scene and verification files.

The sooner that these cloud companies work to create a common open API the more secure and better off we'll all be. The idea of spending so much time being specialized for a particular cloud provider is stupid, when you've built your tech career not knowing actual technology but just a proprietary overlay that doesn't even resemble anything useful outside of the organization.

I'd start the questioning like this...

"On an average day how many kids under 13 do you think join TikTok without their parents knowledge?"

"On an average day, how many teens under 18 and preteens dance in a manner that would be considered provocative on your platform?"

A lot of websites are now generated using static site generators and it is much easier doing so inline, than have to duplicate the content which also makes the pages much bigger. Like I said the issue is more about lack of transparency about how it may effect ranking.

I think their choice of JSON-LD as the recommended format and not being transparent in how it effects results is the biggest issue. JSON-LD requires duplication of content, where as microdata is inline with existing content.

Does anyone remember when Trump bombed Syria while hosting Xi, and then bragged about how beautiful the chocolate cake was?

Anyone else switched entirely to Tekton or another CI/CD platform because GitLab feels like a bloated monolith and too centralized at this point?

Right!?! Legalizing drugs would solve a lot of issues and let people actually address and talk about the real problems which is often mental health, however there are a lot of things like mushrooms and LSD that may cause people to "wake up" and not want to be a slave to the system anymore and I think that is mostly what they fear. People realizing they have more choice and power than they've been led to believe.

Anytime I see a service that pays for ranking then I intentionally avoid them.

This sounds like a great idea for many sectors.

I use Password Store for Android and also on Desktop, and they are backed up to my Google Drive

Did 1Password pass an audit for Linux? I now use pass so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I trust GPG and Ed25519.

So I can cat the file system API directly from Linux?

Enpass is a really nice password app that works on Linux, and allows you to sync with various cloud providers. I have since switched to Password Store though which is open source and uses GPG for encryption, so you can pick your own algorithms.

Same here. My biggest concern right now is with the third party browser extensions.

We need a file system API for databases, much like /proc.

Yes, however in cases like that an app store that only distributes officially signed packages and does some scanning as well as allows community to report issues should handle issues for packages that aren't open source. Nothing stopping something like that from existing if app creators wanted to start using it.
