this is crazy. nice job
tbezman··on Launch HN: Moonrepo (YC W23) – Open-source build system
Came in here to say that Miles is an absolute fucking unit of an engineer / thinker. We just adopted Moonrepo at Gallery and it's been excellent. He's felt the pain of other tools (bazel, nx, turborepo). So happy to see this launch on the front page
tbezman··on How we built Hydrogen, a React framework for building custom storefronts
you fucking nailed this. thanks for writing this out so i didn't have to
tbezman··on PowerToys – open-source Windows utilities
Wishlist feature for PowerToys Run

The ability to search for an application and bring those windows into focus. This is my primary way of switching between applications (except for the terminal which I have bound to Ctrl+Shift+Space). It's much easier for my brain to just type the first two letters of the app I want to focus then to remember the state of the app switch history.

tbezman··on YouTube crypto giveaway scams
For those that aren't aware. It's pretty easy to write an escrow smart contract which ensures both parties got what they signed up for. But anyone falling for this scam definitely isn't going to ask "Can we use an escrow contract to double my money?"

Potentially controversial post on why we memo all the things. https://attardi.org/why-we-memo-all-the-things/

tbezman··on Phil Schiller Says iPad Pro Can Both Supplement and Replace the Mac
I think we're all biased here, a lot of us are developers I'm pretty sure and developing on iOS is not practical as of now so it doesn't really make sense for us to be full time iPad pro users. Anyone do dev on iPads?
tbezman··on Gollvm from Google
Does Google think they can do a better job?
tbezman··on Kotlin doesn’t need an LLVM backend (2016)
This article pretty much summed up everything I thought I knew. LLVM is still pretty fucking sick though.
tbezman··on Tmux and Vim – better together
I'm sort of stuck in IDE Mode now. Been using IntelliJ for a few years with a vim emulator in it. It's alright but I miss this cool stuff too.
