tayo42··on Diverse perspectives on AI from Rust contributors and maintainers
Yeah that's why you go to school, learn, get trained etc..
tayo42··on The Impact of AI on Game Dev Jobs. Open to Work Crisis

tayo42··on The Impact of AI on Game Dev Jobs. Open to Work Crisis
The topic has been done to death by now but this

> He has a huge influence on the developer community, and he is deceiving his viewers about what is going on.

The sub bubbles of development are so crazy to hear about. Idk if I ever interact with anyone that gets their development world view from people on YouTube.

tayo42··on Passengers who refuse to use headphones can now be kicked off United flights
What's the threshold for sick?

It'll never happen becasue everything around travel is to hard to reschedule.

tayo42··on I'm OK being left behind, thanks
We all change tires with a jack and a spare? It's like a simple skill? I don't get the point your making then?
tayo42··on Having Kids (2019)
That's funny becasue if I could do it again I'd have my kids younger.
tayo42··on Having Kids (2019)
Sure, the default for travel shouldn't be it'll be a nightmare though or impossible.
tayo42··on Having Kids (2019)
Travel with a baby isn't that bad.

I think people struggle with losing their identity when they no longer get long periods of focus time or can participate in their hobbies with the dedication they would like.

tayo42··on I'm OK being left behind, thanks
Are most cars not just undoing the lock, the bolts, switching the tire and redoing the bolts and locks?

How are these put on in the first place on an assembly line?

tayo42··on Ask HN: How do you deal with people who trust LLMs?
A person would respond the same way? What exactly are you expecting as the output to those questions?
tayo42··on Show HN: Will my flight have Starlink?
You couldn't get cable internet in Houston?
tayo42··on Have a fucking website
I don't think he's saying don't have social media and replace it with a website but also have a basic website in addition to what ever else your doing
tayo42··on Show HN: Claude Code skills that build complete Godot games
Are they not animated?
tayo42··on Show HN: Claude Code skills that build complete Godot games
What handles making sprite sheets?
tayo42··on Show HN: Claude Code skills that build complete Godot games
A prompt like "make it more fun" will never work. What's the line for an authentic enough game?
tayo42··on Ask HN: What is it like being in a CS major program these days?
> but do not have a gauge for what kinds of problems make for an appropriately difficult assignment in the modern era.

I have no idea what is complicated anymore. You can build a 3d game engine in a weekend or two with Ai.

tayo42··on AI tools are making me lose interest in CS fundamentals
For now yeah becasue you need to direct the Ai correctly still. Either with planning or you need to fix it's mistakes and identify when it did something correct but not optimally.
tayo42··on What makes Intel Optane stand out (2023)
Can Linux differentiate that different dimms are different? Or does it see it all as one big memory space still?
tayo42··on 2026 tech layoffs reach 45,000 in March
Unemployed people, what are you doing?
tayo42··on Coding after coders: The end of computer programming as we know it?
So just iterate on it? Your complaint is that the model isn't one shotting the problem and reading your mind about style. It's like any coding workflow, make it work, then make it nice.
tayo42··on Coding after coders: The end of computer programming as we know it?
Your always reviewing code though. Either a team mates pr or maybe your own code in 3 months, or some legacy thing.
tayo42··on How people woke up before alarm clocks
9 or 10am means going to sleep by 1 or 2am, idk wasn't an issue for me to be up, even at my worst phase of stay up smoke weed and watch TV lol
tayo42··on Willingness to look stupid
Idk if that's universal, when I run into people who struggle with English or just don't know it my first thought has never been this is a stupid person.
tayo42··on How people woke up before alarm clocks
One of the benefits of remote work is not waking up with an alarm clock. It's been so long I forgot how much that sucked. And the snooze button.
tayo42··on I was interviewed by an AI bot for a job
I have an example of a certification that is useful in my first comment...
tayo42··on Atlassian to cut roughly 1,600 jobs in pivot to AI
What do you mean by fit into it's work flow?
tayo42··on I was interviewed by an AI bot for a job
Colleges aren't all equal.

Professional certifications are different

tayo42··on I was interviewed by an AI bot for a job
Certification process like what Cisco has.

All companies attempt to give the same interviews, just have one centralized organization give two programing questions and two system design questions and some kind of proof once you pass it.

You filter every one that can't pass the interview in the first place, you get a better interview experience, and just focus on experience

tayo42··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
Oh interesting. Good to know for the next time the they're/their/there police shows up
tayo42··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
I make mistakes pretty often thanks to auto complete on my phone and carelessness. I've had threads derail and been attacked by people who freak out over grammar.
