We we're doing video, so we are using Camera1 (and Camera2) where its available, but its a bad situation. Lots of obscure devices we don't have access to test on fail regularly and users blame us not Android. The API is clumsy and broken, not just difficult to use.

If I was making an app with photo taking capabilities, I would explore the Snapchat route. Obviously Snapchats users are ok with this for the most part.

As a near daily snapchat user, and someone who has developed an Android app that use's the camera, I prefer it this way. I'm not using SnapChat to take super high quality pictures, but to share moments quickly. The WYSIWYG works well for that, and a lot of Android devices are super slow to take pictures.

Dealing with Camera 1 vs Camera 2 Android APIs, and device specific issues is a mess, I don't blame them for taking the easier route. The iOS camera system is a lot easier to develop against, so I blame Android for this rather than Snapchat.

I guess this way the con men knew when the cards were hot!

I'm working on adding more title sequences, with Star Wars coming up next.

Actually, all of my friends are dead so the title is correct. Me too actually, so yea, we're all destroyed.

Don't ever use services provided by a third party. That's why I cut my own hair, make my own toothpaste, and create my own electricity from coal I mine myself!

It's called a dumpster, and it sits behind the building so customers don't see it.

For those who missed it, the original submission title (from the article) was "Scientists are about to change what a kilogram is. That’s massive."

Probably better for the wildlife if they don't.

Because outside of the home screen and poorly maintained touch-optimized apps most software for Windows is still designed for using with a mouse. iOS is inherently less capable than Windows, but is much better for touch, and all apps are geared towards that.

I was skeptical a few years ago, but I think iOS's productivity potential is growing faster than Windows "Cool Factor", efficiency, and portability are improving.

If only there were a platform with a word count limit... where he could post the small snippet of information without all the filler...

Not for the children who grew up with the same systems in their schools.

That smug look the first actor gets every time he is putting it on makes it look like he's about to burst out laughing.

Because then it would be an entirely different product.

I can't imagine buying something for 20k that has that little versatility compared to a gas powered car. I drive 40 miles round trip everyday, but beyond that it would be a hunk of metal that I have no use for.

Well air conditioners are set to keep houses at a certain temperature. If the five minutes of darkness will have a measurable affect on temperature then air conditioners won't have to work as hard to keep houses cool.

Most people don't blacklist corporations for bad behavior.

Not for everybody, and not for most people I'd wager.

Watching something is a spectacle, even if you know it's bad its still entertaining. This kind of article will get more traction than a dry analysis, "London will probably be fine".

In the long run fake meat will probably become more affordable than better farming practices with the size of our population.

I think it has to do with being told fat is bad for so many years. Obviously it is in excess, but now as people come more aware of carbohydrates and other issues with an unbalanced diet things may change.

My wife will only eat the breast, because she doesn't like the greasier feel of dark meat. I'll eat either but don't have a strong preference so we mainly just get breasts.

Perhaps a secret court order forbids them from doing that.
