The legalization of marijuana is a much bigger battle. We will not get all the benefits of the free market unless government regulations are substantially reduced. If you cant buy Marijuana in Target or Wallmart it probably wont suffice.

Having said that if China's actions can be used to hold mirror to American government I am all for it.
Civil forfeiture laws in my opinion are a good example of pre-crime.
It does not make sense for Microsoft to buy slack. Microsoft already has the sales muscle to reach millions. What Microsoft does not have is a product that can compete with Slack. They should build it ASAP as part of their Office suite. Skype is not that solution.
Google discriminating against a person for their past employment without being upfront about is pure evil.
Pentagon builds some massive surveillance program for US government which is blatantly illegal and in violation of constitution. You need someone who can get it done without leading a paper trail, help friends in government and then lie when confronted. Eric clearly has all those qualities.
While Ad-blockers are getting popular the tech industry could indeed innovate to become ad-blocker-blockers. I guess ad-blockers work by looking at the domain names of the content. Why not use IP address alone to serve ads ? Why use JS embeds code to serve ads and not render it through server itself?
Even JS based ads could provide challenge response based callbacks to render content only after ad is loaded.
Native ads are way better ads than say Google ad-sense. I would always prefer them over any other ad format.
"Now, instead of a text-based list of policies, the various sections are organized into colorful cards laid out on a grid pattern. This makes it easier for developers to find a particular section with just a glance, whether accessing the Policy Center from the desktop or a mobile device."
The article mistakes android developers for illiterate monkeys I guess.
Jokes apart the real problem with Android's policies is the Axe that falls silently because of completely arbitrary set of policies that are loosely defined. Putting and icon here and icon there does not change the fact. If the shit has hit the stationary fan, putting it ON wont solve the problem.
Google must respect the developers and give them clear warnings and opportunities to make amends. Ban someone for a month. Completely banning someone is really bad for individual developers like me who make apps for say marginalized communities in India.
Especially when her superior clearly had cut her so much slack in past.
But hey US uses drones to kill little kids in Pakistan and doctors in Afganistan.
Also society is not same as government. People voluntarily doing stuff is society. Few people through power of majority forcing everyone to pay up for single mothers is government.
Yes, I know people have problems. The kind of people I dont want is who bitch about it and have sense of entitlement.
I am giving this example only to show that when the British government cant enforce existing laws using available evidence, you cant expect them to dig up anything new with more powers.
It is something Mahatma Gandhi pointed out years ago about the British. In one of this Satyagrahas related to Champaran farmers, Gandhiji's modest and only demand was that the British must only acknowledge that there is a problem which needs to be solved. According to Gandhiji's colonial power's unwillingness to even show empathy to people means they are essentially uninterested in the helping people with their problems.
Law of Karma I guess.

Unless I know the Yelp's side of the story I wouldn't buy her version. It is possible that she failed to inform her superiors properly. It is possible that she has a long history of staying absent from work. It is possible that she was terminated for entirely different reasons and her being in a difficult situation is a pure co-incident.
When terminated people get angry. They say all sort of things.
Also I don't understand the "single mom" part. Society does not owe any special treatment to a single mom, not more than any other mom. Single mother is a choice of an independent woman and if she cant afford it she should probably not make it.
Instead of being thankful for an employer to have given an opportunity in first place she is ranting against her employer, this is going to make it difficult for her to find next job. I wont hire such a person.
Learning Powershell had higher costs than using something *nix based without any major advantage.
