tango24··on Google Cloud Is Down
That's one region, not the multiple region that OP mentioned
tango24··on Show HN: Monetized Hugo Theme Documentation
> After Dark is a privacy-focused hypermedia authoring system designed to amplify the world's most influential voices.

The tagline is really buzzwordy ... I have no idea what that means.

tango24··on Falcon Heavy Model – Flight 1 [video]
I really enjoyed the "cinematography" that went into this -- made it extra special. The little boop comment in the middle of a very crucial detachment made me laugh pretty hard. Well done!
tango24··on Ask HN: Signing bonus situation sketchiness
I've had both -- signing bonuses that are provided day 1, but can be clawed back if I don't stay the expected length of time. And I have had signing bonuses that are paid out on my one year anniversary. You should have asked for it to have been written/clarified in your contract though if it was not clear.
tango24··on C-Sky: A $6 Linux dev board with HDMI and USB
2013? That wiki link says the release date was 2016, but the company "had entered insolvency. Many customers still had not received their pre-orders". Sounds like it wasn't profitable to create such cheap devices?
tango24··on The Irresistible Urge to Build Cities from Scratch
Perhaps there could be a subway system (complete with elevators) under, at least, the inner portion of OP's imaginary city?
tango24··on Ask HN: Help I owe over 100k in taxes after signing up for Stripe Atlas
Sounds like a mistake? Maybe they sent a letter to the wrong customer?
tango24··on CDC director warns that Congo's Ebola outbreak may not be containable
> including the renowned Dr Matthew Lukwiya

Short video about Dr. Lukwiya's story. He was on a sabbatical, but rushed back to provide aid, while others were running in panic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7LpjpuOvc8

tango24··on British intelligence hacked Belgacom then sabotaged investigation
By "sabotage" they meant "did not cooperate". Title is more click-baity then accurate.
tango24··on Proposed new tag: IMG (1993)
It's fun to read through this history, while I'm listening to "Where Wizards Stay Up Late".

In reading through the thread [1], I noticed Marc and Jim Davis used an example audio file from the NSA that no longer exists: http://nsa.gov/pub/sounds/gorby.au

Anyone know what the story behind that was? Was that a common example?

tango24··on Apple CEO Tim Cook Calling for Bloomberg to Retract Its Chinese Spy Chip Story
> “We turned the company upside down,” Cook said. “Email searches, data center records, financial records, shipment records. We really forensically whipped through the company to dig very deep and each time we came back to the same conclusion: This did not happen. There’s no truth to this.”

Wow, ok then..

tango24··on Paper Airplane Designs
> follows it with his finger through the air as it took forever to land on the ground.

Sounds interesting, but I'm confused. So is he walking in front of it, and the flame is pulled toward his finger? Did it travel the farthest that way?

tango24··on High Crime in the Cocaine Industry
> One aircraft was being pursued over Homestead, Florida in 1994, so ditched its cargo. A 34-kilogram bag of cocaine fell directly into a back yard where chief of police Curt Ivy was chatting with the Neighborhood Crime Watch about what to look out for in their quiet community.

Well that is ironic.

tango24··on Ask HN: Ex-FAANG developers, where are you now and why?

Would you mind elaborating?

tango24··on Valid use cases for autocomplete=off
This received 23 points in 30 minutes, and yet it is no longer on the front-page? Compare that to this [1], which has received 23 points in 4 hours, and is still on the front page. Are some folks flagging this into oblivion?

tango24··on Remote Workers Are Outperforming Office Workers-- Why
I work remote, and generally put in extra work while others are commuting, and this actually helps me collaborate with folks in other time zones. I'm happy to trade my extra labor for the benefit of not being stuck in traffic in a toll road. In addition to saving on fuel, tolls, and car depreciation, I haven't been rear-ended in years. Back when I drove more frequently, my car had several rear-end collisions.
tango24··on Apple “next-day” delivery horror story
This seems more like a Sainsbury's/DPD failure.

tango24··on Twenty-Seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution
I love this story. What's really cool too is that his former professor submitted a grade change form decades later, to bump his grade up to an "A". NPR has some great info on the story here: https://www.npr.org/2017/05/05/526900818/the-bad-grade-that-...

tango24··on The Diplomatic Couriers Who Deliver America's Secret Mail
4 million miles of traveling, wow. Did that cause any systemic back-pain issues for him sitting on long-haul flights non-stop for a solid decade?
tango24··on MIT Blockchain Systems Consortium: Scalable AI and Blockchain for Humanity
Ironically, quantum computers could break the underlying premises of the elliptic curve cryptography [1] that is used in Ethereum, thereby breaking Ethereum.

tango24··on CivJS: A JavaScript 4X Game (2015)
Looks like it's just the code, but no noticeable way to play. Is it hosted somewhere?
tango24··on Ask HN: Better to get another bachelors or go for an MA in an unrelated field?
The Masters program should list which prerequisite courses you need, and you might be able to take them at a local community college. You'll definitely want to schedule a chat with an admissions counselor though, as each school is different. But they can tell you definitively, before you do all the work for nothing.
